I own it
Bought this car out of necesity and am impressed. I tend to drive my cars fairly hard and my Cobalt has had little problems after 62k miles. It handles very well in the snow and ice (I live in Denver CO and we've has 16 inches and sub zero temps this year). Overall a great buy considering the price I paid for it.

Terrible Terrible Purchase
I have to say i was very disappointed in this car. I've had this car for almost 6 months now and not a month has gone by without my check engine light coming on. Each time I take it in the shop and they fix something entirely different. The car isn't very comfortable, especially the lack of leg room in the back seat. The car performs fairly well. I drive the 2 door SS (not the supercharged version) and it has good acceleration and speed. If you want to open it up you can definitely get up to 60+MPH easily. The interior design is pretty bland, but it's not like you're driving a Lexus or something. I wish I could say you get what you're paying for but even purchasing it for $10,000, I have had to put close to $1000 in repairs into it, with fixing things like the Fuel Injectors, Camshaft, and Alternator. I can't recommend this car to anyone because it's just so unreliable.

Great Little Car
My Cobalt is a Victory Red LS coupe with the only option being a 4-speed auto. I bought it brand new and now have just about 50K miles on it. Comfort: I'm in my early 20's so a 50 year old may feel different but the front seats are comfortable and roomy. I have taken many long road trips with this car and have never felt uncomfortable. The ride is excellent and rivals larger cars. The rear seat isn't bad for two (except headroom for those over 6ft) for a compact but entry/exit is the typical awkwardness expected for a coupe. Performance: This car has better than expected power. It is just as fast as my old 01 Cavalier Z24. I rarely go under 30MPG and I am a lead-foot. My only complaint is that the transmission is programmed for economy so there have been times when it up-shifts too quickly or is hesitant to downshift. Steering and handling are also a pleasant surprise... it can corner with the best in class from Europe and Japan (depending on tires). It does OK in snow (no ABS or Traction Control) and has never left me stuck but common sense always prevails when driving in snow. Heard others complain about premature brake and rotor wear but mine are still original. Exterior Styling: Picked the coupe over the sedan because I think it looks better. Always get compliments on its looks. Aside from some scratches the paint has held up and still shines without me ever using wax. Interior Design: Light years better than in Cavalier. All controls are simple and logically placed. A lot of nice touches for a base model compact: Driver Info Center, auto headlights, iPod jack in stereo. Everything has held up well and works as it did new. That said, overall interior is attractive but still has plenty of cheap plastic in the lower dash and door panels. Value: I paid just over $10k brand new and in this case I got a lot more than what I paid for. There is no way you could find a Civic or Corolla new for this price. Reliability: Don't listen to Consumer Reports. This car has been very reliable. Aside from a run-in with a deer and a power steering recall (Toyota has recalls too) I have only had to take it to the dealer once for a repair and all that was for a dead power point (cigarette lighter plug). Other than that, routine maintenance. Over all I would highly recommend this car to anyone. I personally would buy one again although I would move to the LT or higher to get more creature comforts (power accessories, ABS, etc.).

Good car overall
I bought my cobalt SS sedan with the 2.4 I4 brand new in 06'. I am still amazed by the power this car has for a 4 cyl. I average around 26 mpg with mixed city/hwy driving but I drive like an idiot so that's pretty good. My only complaint is the cheap interior parts. All the paint is peeling off the inside of the door handles. All in all it's a great car. I've put 106,000 miles on it since 06' and have not had a single maintenence issue or any other issue for that matter.

Great Car, but has braking problems
I have 2007 Cheverolet Cobalt LT. I too have had problems with the rotors ever since I bought this car. It started pulsating a tad bit when I first got it, but I didn't think anything of it. As time went on, it continued to get worse and worse! I dislike having to pay too much money to get this problem fixed. I just got brand new rotors a month ago and after that it started to do the same thing again (pulsating of the steering wheel). I can't understand how your rotors can get warped so quickly! Yes, I got them turned but very soon when I take it back to the mechanic, they tell me that I have to replace them.
