alright car for "point A to point B" driving

I drive a 2.4 ss. I have to admit the acceleration is great for a naturally aspirated four cylinder engine. The styling isn't bad either, especially if you have the leather package. BUT...the part that gets me with this car is the quality and craftsmanship (not the engine or drivetrain, those are awesome as of yet). The silver accents in the cockpit might seem pretty stylish, too bad they doesn't stay there. The silver paint wears off quickly, small things that you wouldn't think of break easily..like the switch for the moon-roof for example. The plastic ring around the switch fell off for no real reason and I have to goof around with the switch until it works. Also the trunk broke on me, (from wear and tear I guess? I barely open it except for groceries and it won't latch right now and I permanently have a light for "trunk ajar" now..even though from what I can tell that sucker is closed) The interior is cheap plastic. I'm a performance and aesthetic nut though, so it's the wrong car for me in the first place. To give an unbiased opinion...the car moves well for what it is, is dependable, and is a good value for the price. If you're looking for a strong runner and not really a car enthusiast but are looking for a little "zing" when you hit the acceleration for not a lot of money, it's a good car, given the gas mileage is pretty nice too. It has a feature that tells you your mpg based on average. Mine is around 28 steadily (mixture of rural and highway driving) For a car enthusiast..this won't be your "baby", but if this is what you can afford..it's actually a pretty decent little car despite what your friends might tell you.

WORST CAR EVER

I've owned the 07 Chevy Cobalt since Sept 2007. Since that time it has cost me amost $3000 for repairs that weren't covered by the warranty. The plastic exterior is falling off the vehicle, the interior is cheap and boring. It is horrible driving in the winter. Just a little dust of snow and I am sliding all over the place. I would not recomend buying this vehicle. I have had mine on the market for almost 8 months and can't sell it even under book price. The last vehicle I owned was a Toyota that lasted me 10 years..I thought I was being smart by getting a less expensive car, but all I got was a very expensive headache

Really a great car for the money.

Yes, it is a bit plastic-y and cheap looking for some of the interior. I do have a slight issue that the entire interior is grey (in my case) plastic. Barring that issue, it's comfortable for my long legs, and has plenty of front-seat room. The rear area is smaller, but I knew that and it wasn't a concern. It has enough power in the 2.2 litre version for me, and if you don't drive like a fool, you can get much better than the sticker milage. What I'd like to change? The lean-forward headrests that won't let my neck rest on anything. And I would like a telescoping steering column, as my long legs cause me to have my seet a bit back farther than my arms would like. This is well worth the money. Not a lot of bells and whistles, but a relatively bullet-proof car for the money.

Fun on the Run!!!

I just bought my 2007 Chevy Cobalt LS as a last resort for a car. The cost of other cars I've owned have always doubled the price of this. As you can tell I didn't want this car. Funny thing is, now I love this car. I have the base model which doesn't have electric anything. But in all actuality electronics are just prone for something to go wrong. I have the two door version with the stock spoiler which gives it a fast "looking" appearance. True this is not a fast car but you do get great gas mileage as well as a quiet ride from point A to point B. Has a ton of trunk space and ample leg room for driver and passengers. Cup holders in front are a little to close to the controls but they are ok. Rear window defrost works great. Body panels are awfully weak so don't push your door in with your butt or you could possibly dent it. Seriously. GM has a great warranty on this car. I would probably only recommend the LS or LT models to the younger generation because they don't care about creature comforts all that much. Hope this helps!

The WOW factor

I bought my Cobalt about 10 months ago, and I still love it. Living in Cincinnati, hills can sometimes test an engine. I have no problems going up and down the hills in my Cobalt! This car has a little zip in it! The exterior styling is great, the interior styling is basic but sufficient. Everyone that gets into my car comments on how big the interior room is (for a small car). This car is a great buy, you get way more than you pay for. I also looked at comparable Honda and Toyota models, and I would have not gotten near the same amount of features for the price I paid for my Cobalt. My favorite part of my cobalt? The gas mileage - the price of gas keeps going up and up, and I average 30-35 mpg on a tank of gas- up hills, through town and on the highway. I recently took a trip to Northern OH and got almost 450 miles to that tank - half of it was city driving! Wonderful!

Most accident prone car I've owned

It is a piece of tin that looks nice from the outside but is worthless in an accident. There were two chevy cobalts in my family and now about a year later there are none. It gave me so much trouble with steering and the wheel locked often. It was completely totaled in an accident and nothing happened to the other vechicle.

The worst

I got this car as my first new car. think that i would not have to bring it in to the shop. Every 4 to 6 mouths. like my old 1995 Ford Taurus with a 144,000miles putting a $150 to $400 in to repairs. But now i am in the shop every mouth hoping that the dearlership car fix it. i wish i still had my old Taurus. So now i am paying over $200 dollers a mouth for a 2007 cobalt that is the worst car ever!

My First New Car

I bought it new. It does seem to have cheep Interior. Tires that came with it are cheep. At 20,000 miles and they ma attention soon. Does not handle well on slippery roads. Slides one snow, ice and ever wet roads during the summer. I dislike the fact it had roll up windows, in 2007 and push down locks.

Very reliable car! looks great too!

This car is without a doubt one of the best cars that i will ever own. It is very comfortable and has great pick up! I have mine in black because that's my favorite color on a car. It looks so awesome. If you are thinking about getting a chevy cobalt, then do so because you will not regret it. The cobalt is a very reliable car as well.

Good choice for my first brand new car

2dr coupe LT: It's my first brand new car and I have to say it's pretty good. Comes with decent features and performance. Have the manual transmission and the I love the clutch, soo much easier then other manuals I've had although I at times would like the auto. Interior is decent for younger people, but the seats start getting uncomfortable after about 2.5-3hrs of driving. Exterior design is good. Mechanically it's a great car. Sounds a little rough on cold days while it's warming up, but still runs great. Looses a little bit of power with the A/C on but is as expected, and changing headlight bulbs is nightmare. Besides those few issues, I am completely satisfied and pleased with this zippy little car. Oh yeah, wish the back seats could be opened from the inside the cabin and not just from inside the trunk.
