Great value!

I bought this car as a first car for my son. With the rebates, I got a great deal on this as a new car. It is a very basic car but it is an extremely easy car for my son to drive. Although I did not get it with electronic windows or doors, it does come with electronic monitoring on the dashboard, a CD player, and a jack for an MP3 player (my son loves that). I bought the 4 door sedan and it has surprisingly good leg room in the back seat, although my family members are generally short. But my husband, who is 6'3" and has a lot of trouble fitting small Japanese cars, had sufficient head room in the drivers seat. It also comes with a very roomy trunk. The gas mileage is also impressive. It is a great value for the price.

Sweet car. Sweet price

I love this car. I had to get a reasonablely cheap car, but I wanted something that would be sporty and realiable. I did not want a used car. I had no credit and only one thousand five hundred down, and I was aprroved with out a co signer. This car rocks... it's fast, it's atractive, and it's the best car I have had the pleasure to drive.

Wow, GM you surprised me!

I drove a rental Cobalt for about a thousand miles over mountain roads and rutted sections in Montana. I was pleasantly surprised by the performance and behavior of this car. As a point of reference, we own a 2005 Toyota Corolla. The Cobalt engine is very quiet; often it is difficult to know that the engine is running. Performance with two aboard is adequate. Up and down mountain roads, I averaged 37.6 MPG. (The car has 18K miles on the odo.) The instrumentation was another surprise. One can call up: odometer readings, oil service life remaining, mileage range for the fuel in tank, miles per gallon, outside temperature; plus warning messages such as doors ajar, open trunk, ... etc. All this delivered unobtrusively at the driver's discretion. The interior is functional and not far behind our Corolla in quality and fit. All in all, I would consider owning a Cobalt. Final bonus: GM warranty power-trains for 100K miles, twice that of the competition.

Glad I didn't buy one . . .

1400 miles, 5 days in an LT. Overall impression: Buy a Sentra. Seating for 6'4" and 5'9" occupants: poor. Interior features, although adequate, were less than exciting. Radio controls were ok, temp controls were good (allowed for fine-tuning of fan speed -- whoopee). Driver visibility was hampered by the headliner. Side mirror visibility was obscured by connecting arms. Trunk space was ok for 2 people. Styling, in my eyes, was dismal. High-speed control was sketchy over 85 mph and quite scary at 90+. A/C was ok but had tough time keeping up at 94 degrees outside temps. Power with auto was dismal and the car spent most of it's time downshifting to keep up in mountainous terrain. Cobalt paled in comparison with recently Sentra rental. Likes: Cheapest rental car available in Salt Lake. Gas mileage not bad. Cool temperature controls. Dislikes: Everything else.

Great car, but could use more power

I bought a 07 Cobalt LT 4dr. in march with only 5 miles on it. Now as of May 22, 2007 it's got 5600 on it, and so far it's been reliable. it's getting between 30-35mpg on the hwy. witch is were i do most of the driving. for only $16k, it has A/C, Cruise, AM/FM CD with MP3 the I pod Jack is a big plus, All power options except power seats. Lumbar support wich is a big plus since i have back problem. Only downside, is toruqe steer, and it could use a little more power, other than that it's been one of the best cars i've ever had

Love this car!

I love my cobalt. All my friends envy my sportscar. It is fast and attractive. The handling is not the best. The performance package on this car is great. Perelli tires are also a plus.

Just bought a 2007 Cobalt SS Supercharged, It about 1 week old so far its GREAT!!!! Very comfortable, and fast!!! Sounds great, and love the 10' sub in the trunk. Bought it for about $20,000 and for the price very pleased!!! Only downside, mine didnt come with the high spoiler, which i like alot. And even thought i like the sound i still will put an exhaust on the car.

Okay...but problems

I have a 2007 cobalt coupe which i brough Aug 2006. So far I have had the same problem since. My engine light comes on. 1st they said there was a leak so they replaced that. and then it came back. So they just turned it off, 3 times. The 5th time, they said my gas cap was faulty!!! On a brand new car. The traction could be a little better. But overall I like my car. O ya, I wish you could open the truck from inside the car, not going to the truck to pop open the seats!!!
