Eye grabber

This truck has great style and interior room. For a 6 foot + driver, it is hard to enter/exit due to short door opening. The ride is quite stiff but gets better at highway speeds. I feel the price of this truck is high for the lack of commonly included heated mirrors and rear defroster. There's not much you can do with a 5ft. bed, barely enough for any real hauling. It does have a better rear axle (9"gear) than my 2008 silverado, wich was the same axle in the S10s and older Colorados. All said, next time. I'll opt for a "big truck", they all are getting better mileage.

Everything I've come to love from my full-size truck, with added looks and attitude. Love the trail boss edition with roll bar and lights factory

Worst Transmission Ever

Excellent in all ways except driving it. Under moderate acceleration it chugs and stumbles like an old car. Worse, we live in the mountains and when going down long hills, just tapping the brakes causes it to downshift and the engine roars up to 4k rpms and I cannot get the thing to upshift until I downshift to manual, (further roaring) and then upshift manually. I can then shift back to Drive and it will maintain the gear until I tap the brakes again and we do it again. I've never had anything this bad. I even bought an engine tune. That cured the stumbling/missing at moderate acceleration but did nothing for the downshift problem. It looks like I'm going to have to trade it off. I really, really wanted a US made truck but I guess it back to Toyotas. I want to note that I've owned small trucks for 35 years & NEVER had anything like this.

Life long vehicle

My husband just traded in his jeep for his diesel Colorado. 100% this will be a life long car. We drove 5.5 hours home (approx. 350 miles), and he still had over 100 miles left on the tank. We're a diesel family, so this was the perfect addition for us! He absolutely loves it!

Chevy has some refining to do

I bought a 2016 Chevy Colorado Z 71 crew cab in August 2016. The testdrive was obviously not enough to realize this trucks shortcomings and I ended up trading it after only two months of ownership and here's why. This truck has terrible problem with the automatic transmission programming. It shifts into high gear rapidly and tries to hold top gear instead of shifting down when it obviously needs to. This results in the feeling of driving a manual in high gear and trying to floor it. It feels like it just struggles and shakes and shutters rather than just shifting down smoothly like most vehicles. This seems to be a growing trend in new cars as a means of saving gas and getting better EPA mpg estimates because a 2017 Altima I recently rented for a week suffers from the same condition. I think it is a horrible trend and I think it will end up damaging transmissions in the long run by forcing them to cruise in top gear when they should not be In top gear. Everything else about the truck was very nice: it drove great, rode great had a very quiet cabin and a strong engine but the transmission performance was completely unacceptable and everything else that I loved about the truck when out the window once the transmission started shuddering every time I hit a slight hill. Also these trucks do not get the gas mileage that is promised on the EPA sticker. The best you get in these trucks is 18mpg which having known that I would never have bought a compact truck when full-size trucks are capable of achieving that mileage as well. I would not buy a compact truck again knowing that they will not get better gas mileage than a full size and yet you get so much less room and capability. This is precisely why the compact truck market died in America until it's recent revival which fake EPA estimates have helped with. Bottom line if you are in the market for a new truck please do yourself a favor and just buy a full-size pick up.
