I love my 2000 Corvette. I have a soft top.

I love him. Yes him. He is a silver soft top Fox. So many compliments do I get on this easy handling MAN. This is a true lover of the road. With the sports package I have , it's a breeze to go into one of the three driving modes with a flick of a switch. I blow away any new Ford mustang . That's right. All those loud colors. My car is the prime example of a true gentlemen with excuse the expression, the xxxxx to go with him.

Great fast car!

Loved this car and was very reliable. Has over 100000 miles on the car but you would never know it. Have bad knees so getting in and out was difficult.

2000 C5 Supercharged

Recently brought my vette and could not be happier. Looks fantastic and performance well with the vortex supercharger I have 490 hp at the wheels, so it spins the 275 x 18 alloys pretty easily. If you are looking for a car that turns heads whereever you go, then this is the car. My vette has every possible option available so for a 15 yo car it has all the mod cons. Every time I jump into it (as often as possible) I have a smile from ear to ear. If you are thinking of buying this sports car don't procrastinate just do it you won't be disappointed.

MyYellow Big Bird

I have owned several sports cars, two corvettes ( 74' T-Top, 96' Convertible ), a Mercedes 380 SL, and a BMW Z4, and now my 00' vette convertible. If I had to rate comfort of ride It would be 1st Mercedes, 2nd BMW and 3rd my 00' vette, but my 00' corvette would be rated number 1 as fun to drive. I think the sleek style of the C5 surpasses any of my previous cars. The performance, acceleration and handling are excellent. I purchase it used with 40k on the speedo. It was a one owner car with all the maintenance records from the dealership. The car looks and rides like a brand new car, even with 40k. The car is a blast to drive.

Best Value available in a sports car!

I have owned my 2000 convert for over a year. Had 16K miles on it now has 22K miles on it. Have had no problems at all with it. Gas mileage is unbelievable for this kind of car. 18 mpg city if drive hard and 22 mpg hwy. If drive like a normal driver you will get 22 mpg city and 28 to 30 mpg hwy. Comfortable for a sports car. Very low getting in and out. Be careful going over bumps. Maintenance is very low. Uses synthetic oil and premium gas other than that very inexpensive to maintain. Oh and insurance is $300 a year for full coverage! What a surprise that was! This is only good for an extra car not a daily driver-unless you are young and single. Don't wait pick one up you won't be sorry. I also have mustang convertibles while I love them this is so much more fun to drive. P.S. I bought my corvette because it was cheaper than the mustang convertible I was looking for. Not disappointed!

Check for battery acid leaks!!!

Common and VERY EXPENSIVE problem with this model is the factory battery posts break off and acid leaks. Unfortunately below the battery is the wiring harness, vacuum hoses, PCM, and TCM. That's a $6,000 repair job if the acid wasn't immediately neutralized and cleaned up. CHECK FOR THIS WHEN YOU LOOK AT ANY USED C5!!! THE SELLER ISN'T GOING TO BRING THIS TO YOUR ATTENTION! LOOK FOR WHITE RESIDUE FROM CORROSION, ETC...

Mid Life Crisis , Bucket list or Too Much fun?

So.. do your home work, use the corvette forum, drive some cars, figure out your budget, its a 2 person car, its not a Lexus, Cadillac, Its tough to get in and out of. Its limited to what it can carry. The quality of the interior dash board, not some much. Reliability on GM stuff , hit and miss..But wait, when you put the car in gear and drive all of that goes away! The car roars down the road, The FRC's hard top Coupes later became the Z06 because they handled like they were on rails. Put good expensive tires on it. Change the oil and drive it! The car is fun to drive the speed limit with. 5&6th gear are over drives, if you can keep your foot out of the firewall, you can get 28-30 MPG. Use car fax, find a used one that has not had 5-9 owners. This car with an aftermarket exhaust, air induction system and different exhaust comes to life, power wise. Don't go cheap on fixing things. In 2000 this car booked at $40,000 dollars double what the normal price was. Check to make sure the battery didn't leek acid onto the computer underneath it. Walk away from the deal if it did! Better still take to a qualified mechanic before buying it. If you buy it correctly you can be driving a late model for less than 1/2 of what it sold for. Corvette fever catch it!
