Great work truck for my landscape business.

I bought this truck from a auction with 134,000 miles for $4k. It was a at&t truck. It came with a camper shell so it protects all my machines from thieves or rain . I put some money into it ....like $600 and now runs better. It's a 2006 Chevy long bed with the 4.3 engine. Even with all my tools, machines, sprinkler parts, the camper shell and 2 of my guys plus myself the engine doesn't feel slow or underpowered. You wont win no race with it or pull 6 tons with it . But for work it's a perfect truck. I used to have a v8 but the gas was killing me. Highly recommend this truck for work.

Long term (12 years) review. 06 WT 5.3 4WD AT 58K

I ordered this truck and it was delivered just fine. (My second new Chevy truck, bought a new one in 76 also. It was a rust bucket by 1980. Ford had galvanized panels in '70's and they are still being bought and sold. When was the last time you saw a 77 Chevy truck on the road?) -- My '06 presently has just 58,000 miles on it and has led a pretty soft life. Garage kept. A couple of 300 mile trips towing a car trailer with a moderate load. One trip hauling an F250 back for 150 miles. Only did that once.....The rest has been easy peasy, 3-4K per year. -- Regular maintenance by myself, by the book. Synthetic oil from the git go. -- I had the a/c fan switch burn up pretty early on. Smoked the cab up real nicely. OEM headlights didn't last long. -- At eight years the brake lines rusted out under the cab. Terrible job to replace; required raising the cab due to the lines being ran inside of frame rail. Design and engineering GM style. -- I recently replaced both front wheel bearings, both axles and axle seals after both outboard boots blew out. Axles are skinny, weak affairs. Wheel bearings sealed in assemblies. Cheap. Rusted nearly solid in the bore, liked to never got them out and destroyed the brake dust shield in the process due to it's placement. A arm steel is degraded, rusting away and falling off in chunks do to poor quality steel. Quality parts GM style. -- There is a rattle underneath that I am unable to locate. Reminds me of my '76 rattle trap. -- I had a tire blowout a couple years ago in July and it took 40 minutes to get the spare lowered. When if finally fell it about broke my arm. What fun! The jack stowage is so complicated that I have yet to get it back stowed correctly. -- I had the truck undercoated at the GM dealer and it is about 75% gone now and looks like xxxx. Zero paint left on the frame but lots of surface rust. Looks like it has 258K miles rather than 58K. -- I had trouble with the tail lights burning out. That's when I found the active rust behind the tail light on the tailgate post. Why there? -- I have the towing package and that is kind of a joke. A small load in the bed really sags the rear end. Why is that? Well it is because there are only three leafs on each rear spring. My 73 Ford has nine leafs. Save money for the shareholders GM style. -- I have never been thrilled with the factory paint job. It has looked thin and dull from day one. The sheet metal gets dents/dings easily. Thin. Shareholders before customers. -- First time I checked my rear differential oil level it was 1 1/4 quarts low from the factory. Dealer is also supposed to check fluids before delivery. Quality control GM style. -- The transmission has always shifted harshly on each shift. I wanted a manual trans but it was not available with my WT regular cab nor were power windows and locks. Had to step up to extended cab or Z71. Couldn't get the 6.0 engine either. Customer driven marketing GM style. My truck rides nice and I like driving an American vehicle. Too bad there are ten thousand other ones just like it around here. I bought a new Corolla in 2007 to keep the miles off of the truck. It has 122,000 miles now. I had one headlight bulb burn out so I replaced them both. That's it. Nothing else. I've been to the shop only twice, recalls each time. Top notch service. In and out. Mark my word, in 25 years GM will be dead and gone because they forgot about the customer. They lied to us in their marketing and stole from us with their overpriced, sub-standard products that required constant, expensive service calls. The brass got big bonuses, the shareholders got their value, the dealers got fat and we got screwed.

Reliable but...

It?s been very reliable but I?ve had fix many things on this truck. And my biggest problem I have with it is the brakes, too soft and sluggish even after complete brake job and system flush

Can?t get enough of the bowtie

Most convenient car I?ve owned, everything about it was in mint condition, and the most comfortable ride ever. Would definitely recommend it to anyone that lives in Michigan

Great truck!

Was a very dependable vehicle until it reached 150 km.I do my oil changes, Transmission,Front diff,Rear diff etc.I also put an air raid intake an a Magna flow exhaust package on it including a throddle body spacer.Shortly after buying in 08.Then I purchased a tuner and changed the gear ratios etc. This truck was putting out around 425 HP.Out of a 5.3 327c.u.i Chevy Vortec. My Brother called it the Ferrari truck due to its power. That being said,I have replaced the transmission at 156,000 km.Transmissions are weak on this model.Aswell as other things such as blower motor,Master cylinder,Brakes etc.Still running just cost alot to keep it that way.P.s do not do what I did and put the extra stuff into it.They are powerful enough and you will only do more damage. Not a Ferrari!

Very reliable

Very dependable and reliable. Love the look and feel even better later models. I've driven plenty of miles on the highway and have had some good fun off road. Has been a good year for me.

Nicest cleanest truck ever

Love it. Bought it used with low mileage. Truck is still as new. It?s the right color new cost was 39,000. Hard to find over 10 year old vehicles with low miles. I own 4 other 10 year old vehicles with below 100,000 miles on them.

The best vehicle I have ever owned

This model Silverado is an amazing vehicle, I have owned this truck for about 8 years and has never let me down. Any repairs that it has needed I have been able to do myself.
