big truck gas saver
I would recommend a full size truck without all of the bells and whistles. I bought a 4.3 with standard shift, which is extinct. I went without air conditioning, and crank windows to save the headache of the little motor. I got 27 miles per gallon going from Newark, Ohio to Saint Louis Missouri, on vacation last year. The fan was enough with a crack in the windows. I got 25 mpg otherwise but flat land helps keep from burning gas.

Big Dually
Great truck. I have the dually 4x4 that I purchased specifically for pulling my 12000 lb. 5th wheel camper. Fantastic truck for this job, set the tranny to tow/haul mode and sit back and relax. The crew cab comfortably seats my wife and I, one teenage son, and 2 labs. I fill the rest of the bed with firewood, and the big chevy handles it great.

Pretty Good Pickup
My family bought a regular cab 2500 HD last year in April. We bought it for $25k, and it was worth nearly every penny! Strong performance, quiet interior, and capable of towing stuff almost as heavy as the International RXT. Seats are fair, because they arent that comfy, and this Silverado didnt even come with a cd player or a cassette player! I dont like that suck the earth dry fuel enconomy. Those are really the only issues with our 2500HD. I like it in all the other ways.

Great Truck!
I am a Ford man. I mean I love Fords. But I got this truck VERY cheap through a misfortune to the original owner. I am very impressed with this vehicle. It is strong, but very easy to drive. I haven't taken any long trips yet so I can't speak to that issue. I love the sound of the engine, and the fuel economy is far better than I thought any truck could be. I like the looks of a Ford better, and the interior of the Ford is far superior, but this is a truck after all, and the Chevy looks and feels like a truck. The standard features on the LT1 are simply amazing, a whole lot of bang for the buck!!

Great value
06 4 door,4.8l, auto. Despite the rough highway ride, the truck is very comfortable with plenty of power. They look great and come at a great price.

Great truck!
This truck handles well, is comfortable and gets decent gas mileage for a large pickup with a six cylinder engine. I get over 22 miles per galleon on the highway. It is a work truck but comes nicely equipped with a CD player, tilt wheel, cruise control, intermittent wipers, A/C and automatic. I've added an alarm system with keyless entry and power door locks, a sheel and a heavy duty bedliner.

Best diesel truck on the road
More than enough power for serious 5th wheel hauling. Definately outperforms my old 2001 Duramax. Lots of things improved since 2001.

Not a good traveler
Truck is fine in local driving. Not very economical, but big and safe. On the road, it has a very annoying and harsh downshift pattern. You will be tooling along at 70-75, 1900 RPM, start up a slight grade and all of a sudden, WHAM, you downshift three gears and are at 4000 RPM. Scared the heck out of me the first time, and annoys me still. This is the V6 with Automatic, and in reading other forums, seems to be a frequent complaint. It does it in both cruise-control and foot-feed mode. The engine, transmission, and GVW are obviously built for flat land driving. I will be renting a vehicle for future long trips.

Can there be a perfect truck?
These trucks are so good I can't believe the design is 8 years old. Simply perfect in every category, very reliable, built like a tank, super strong engine and comfortable ride. Makes the Tundra look like a ridgeline wussy truck. I highly recommend this vehicle.
