Oil use On Chevy trucks

I bought a used 08 silverado. It used oil at 40,000 miles. A LOT! It used 1 to 2 qt between oil changes. I did some improvements for power from the 5.3. Cold air intake, cat back system, headers and a programmer. I turned off my the system that let's it goes into 4cy mode. OIL USE STOPPED COMPLETELY!!! I dropped 2 miles per gallon, but no oil use. NO OIL USE! I would rather know my truck is not going to run out of oil than the extra 2mpg. Buy a programmer that turns off the truck from going into 4cy mode. It's also fun to fill up with high test and run extreme mode with the extra power. Gm trucks till I die

if you need a truck this is a good, low cost vehic

If you need a pickup, this vehicle might be the one for you. Mine is the work truck edition, and even though it only has a 6 cylinder engine, it has hauled full loads of green firewood, without any problems. Repairs are minimal, it is very reliable, and though the comfort and ride aren't as good as some, I would recommend it to anyone looking for a low cost work truck.

I love this truck!

I have driven vans and hondas alike. My Chevy silveraldo was the best truck I have ever driven. They last forever and mine was the most comfortable truck I have had to drive. Was the 1st vehicle I ever bought on my own. When my brothers honda started burning off oil and breaking down on the interior my chevy was still going strong. The only reason I am considering selling it, is because of gas prices and mpg. It's high in the mileage now and doesn't get the best gas mileage and if I didn't have such a long way to go to work in city traffic I wouldn't be selling it at all. I love love love chevy trucks and wish I could afford a new one but my chevy has been good to me!

Great truck

Absolutely love this truck. Kept me safe in a head on collision with a house (weather related) at 35mph (I even drove the truck home and to the shop!), has hauled over a ton of scrap in the bed for a week (With over 130k miles on it!) and towed numerous vehicles out of banks! This beast of a truck hasn't failed me one time, and hopefully never will!

Best truck I've owned, regret not keeping it

Prefect truck for all my everyday needs, was my personal, work and play truck. No matter what I needed it to do that day. the 2008 Silverado 1500 LT3 Z71 4x4 was definitely worth the price I paid for it. It's an older model now these days but Chevrolet knew what they where doing with that pick up. Only had the normal wear and tear. No major recalls that needed attention etc. But I will say this yes the 4x4 operating system is pretty cool on those truck kick it in 4 high under speeds of 45 mph chevy has always had a pretty decent 4x4. But when I damaged my driver side half axle due to a problem with the electrical part of being exposed for a period of time of the natural weather and other factors as well but before I knew it was a serious problem I pretty much fried the whole 4x4 electrical system front to back. It's a z71 4x4 don't let water and everything else natural elements ruin the whole system. By shorting out in the control box. " little bit pricey to repair.

Good Looking Truck

Plenty of power, rides good for a 4WD. Like the looks. The best color is victory red. The upholstery is good but the door panels are rather plain.

It has too many of what one doesn't want or need and not just the bare necessities of what one wants..

Very nice used vehicle

It was just what we were looking for, even the color. The price was price was reasonable and best of all it was low mileage for a vehicle that is 9 years old.
