I recently bought a 2014 Silverado LT Double Cab with the following Options: 4x4 5.3L Ecotec3 V-8 Drop-in bedliner All-Star Package MSRP was 42,500 Out the Door price (after taxes, fees, etc) was 33,200. To start, I was initially considering buying an F-150, but once I drove the new Chevy, there really isnt a comparison. The ride quality is superb, I'm averaging 22 MPG with a 70/30 HWY/City driving split, and it looks better than even the new F-150 thats coming out this year. Yes my V-8 is down 12 HP and about 35 lb-ft of torque to the "Eco-boost", but I can still tow 9600 lbs, I can haul more in the bed of my truck, and get way better fuel economy in the real world. Once the turbos kick in for the Ford, its all boost and no eco. The handling on this truck is scary good. There is considerably less body roll than the Ram of F-150 and has less nose drove when under breaking. The Ram has a slightly better ride due to the coil rear suspension, but its not that much better....plus the leaf springs allow more towing and safer towing. If you are considering buying a new truck, I highly recommend taking a Silverado for a test drive.

I purchased my 2014 4.3L Silverado 1500 on Feb. 2nd. 7 days later when it was very cold outside (15 degrees) I got in my truck to go to work. As soon as I started it, a message showed up saying "Service, No Power Steering". I called and made an appointment and had it repaired. 7 days later when the temp dropped again, the exact same issue occurred. Again, I had it repaired. A few days later... guess what, poof.... happened again!!! After many, many phone calls to the dealer and with GM corporate and NO POWER STEERING, I'm getting the run around and no one will fix my vehicle. I purchased it 2 hrs. away from my home and my local GM dealer (who did the first two repairs) says to bring it back to the selling dealer (2 hrs. away) because they have done all they know to do. My purchasing dealer says to bring back to my local GM certified dealer. UGH!!!! So frustrating! It only has 989 miles and if I could drive it through the front window of the purchasing dealer's showroom(without causing any bodily harm to anyone of course) I would, thank God I'm a calm person!

Haven't had a full size truck in a while (they were always about 4" too long to fit in my garage, so I had to settle for a smaller model, then lo-and-behold, here comes the 2014 Silverado deluxe cab which fits by a 1/2". The fuel economy is around 18-20 MPG varying on traffic issues. The seats are so comfortable and the ride is very quiet. So far I've put about 14K miles on it (bought it last year in October). I have no real complaints with this truck whatsoever. I highly recommend the Silverado to all My family and friends.

As a craftsman, doing all kinds of on site repairs, I always have a high amount of tool boxes and ladders etc with me. It is therefor very important for me to be able to easily and safely load and offload my truck, especially in winter where I take all electrical tools back into the shop at night to keep them from freezing; the safe foot holds at the side of the back bumper and the corresponding hand grips have proven so incredibly valuable for quickly and safely reaching the bed, even after a hard day's work when you're less cautious than you should be and the danger of slipping and hurting yourself is higher. The cabin itself is incredibly quiet, and the seats as comfortable as they can be, which enables me to make all my calls in excellent quality while driving; this actually saves me a lot of time because if I didn't understand my customers properly or if I'd have bad call quality in the truck, I would have had to postpone all calls to later in the evening or to another time when I'd rather be actually working on a customer job, or doing something else. I had decided back then to buy the 4.3 liter V6 engine with 285 bhp, and I have never regretted my choice, I always have enough power, and my truck consumes 12.7L/100Km in the city in winter with a bed full of tool boxes and sheetrock, and 11.1L/100Km on the highway, which I regard as fully acceptable. So to make a long story short, I've had this truck for a year now, I depend on it every day for work, and so far it has been absolutely flawless. Good luck.

I purchased this excellent truck back in December 2013, and it has been great. I have around 5k on it now with no mechanical issues at all. I have the crewcab 4x4 LT with the 5.3L and it does the job very well. The only con with the Chevy is I would like them to have a little more ground clearance. I added a 3" leveling kit to it and that put the clearance perfect. I drove the Ford and Dodge but they did not have the feel of this truck. The only other truck even close would have been the 4x4 Tundra, but the price was to steep for me.

New 2014 Chevy Silverado ROCKS!

We took delivery of our new Chevy Silverado 1500 5.3 V8 with the Max Tow package in mid-May. I have been a Toyota man since the 70s. Out of about 20 vehicles I have owned, this is my 3rd Chevrolet and my first new Chevy ever. If Toyota and Chevy were to have a kid, the new 2014 Chevy Silverado would be their offspring. My father has been a Corvette man since the first water. In many ways, my new Silverado feels like a Corvette truck! I guess for all intents and purpose, the redesigned 2014 Silverado 1500 with the Max Tow package is really a 2000. It can tow 11,200 lbs. and take a payload of 1,900 lbs.! All this and about 22 mpg on the highway empty! Pulling a 10,000lb 5th wheel driving in the mountains of North Jersey at 65+ MPH, I got 10 MPG! I was quite awestruck that the VCM actually kicked into V4 mode quite a few times while I was towing the 5th wheel. I am thoroughly impressed not only with the fit and finish but the overall design. Mine came with the chrome package as well. I am not usually a fan of chrome. But my new Silverado with the Blue Granite Metallic paint and the full frontal chrome grill, bumpers and tubular running boards give it an impressive head-turning modern-retro look. The lines are chiseled but sleek; not at all over muscled like the Ford F series. What has me the most excited is finally owning a vehicle 100% deigned and made in the U.S. Team Chevy has a new diehard fan. I am in love with everything about this truck. From the look all the way to the seamless V8/V4 VCM and the silky smooth transmission and extremely quite ride, I truly have the best of both worlds.

This is an excellent effort by GM in a redesigned Pick-up. We leased this vehicle for three years in late May 2014. This truck replaced our 2004 Tahoe LS as the tow vehicle for our travel trailer. After living with it for nearly a month we are impressed and very pleased with our choice. We have the 5.3 FF V8 with active fuel management coupled by a six speed automatic to a 3.73 rear end. It is two wheel drive . Although we have not had the opportunity to tow yet, we are predicting that his truck will tow our trailer much better the 2004 Tahoe we had before. The 2014 trailering package is more complete than those offered in the 2004 and is much more user friendly. The telematics and driver info center is a vast improvement over what was available and offered in 2004. The "All Star" package with the LT trim level has more extras than most need, expect, or want and leaves it a little more to be desired especially in the interior. The ergonomics are well designed and executed. The double cab design provides easier access, greater seating comfort, and more behind-the-front-seat space than its extended cab predecessor. The exterior styling is a bit bolder than those offered in 2013 and earlier and it is pleasing to most eyes. The rear back-up camera, remote start, and active fuel management features are ones that we coming to appreciate immensely. In the case of the latter, its is comforting to know that GM has made it possible to use fuel responsibly by using only the cylinders needed (8 or 4) based on engine load. This should thus reducing fuel consumption and by doing save our resources, the environment and fuel costs and give us the opportunity to see the immediate impact on mpg as you drive. Negatives? We have observed a stiffness in the accelerator and an uncomfortable difference in the height of the brake pedal plane in relation to the accelerator. This causes some difficulty in making smooth transitions from accelerator to brake and vice versa. Also time will tell on reliability; we rated average because of it being an unknown, although it's promising at this time. In summary, this truck is deserving of the distinction received as the 2014 North American Truck of the Year. Look out Ford, truck of the year for 36 years; Here comes Chevrolet. Thanks for the review opportunity. Mary Jo and Dale Johnston Rochester Hills, MI
