Could be worse

So I ended up with a pink Spark while my RX-8 was getting repaired. The guy at the rental counter kept calling it a "Shhhpaaak" which left me scratching my head (I'm gonna be driving a... Spock? What?) Then he said he was giving me the pink car. I laughed. Nope, it really does come in pink. Honestly it is way better than some American made low end cars I've driven as rentals (Dodge Caliber being the most ridiculously terrible). It's cute enough styling-wise, and the interior for a low end car, is pretty attractive really. The instrument cluster is nice- it has a gauge for how miles per gallon, and an RPM gauge. Even though it's the size of a freaking peanut, I could fit a passenger, several large boxes to take to UPS *and* a large grocery shopping trip in the back, which honestly I was a bit worried about. You also sit really high up, with a good view of the road and no major blind spots, and the turn radius was great. It is really underpowered though. I've never rolled backwards on a gentle hill in an automatic, except in the Spark. Wow. You almost want to get out and push it, to get it moving- merging or passing is a freaking task and a half. The A/C was balky, and often blew warm, and the onboard computer, though pretty, made me want to kick it repeatedly. It froze, the buttons and touch screen would simply not respond sometimes, and in general it was incredibly slow. It really made me miss the simple, basic old style radios sans computer. When it froze and you had to reboot it, it'd wait like ten seconds to respond, which was maddening really. For the price, not bad for what it is I guess. Certainly better than the Dodge Caliber (I wanted to burn that thing with FIRE after a week hauling around 4 adults) but frankly I'd rather get an older Honda Civic which has similar gas mileage. It goes get a lot of attention, I will say that- I had several people come up and ask me about it while I was out and about. The pink-ness of it all was probably a big part of that! (My husband flat out refused to drive the poor thing.)

Nice car but Air problems

We bought this car about 6 months ago. It has a great feel to it, drives nice and even has a tighter turn than most other cars. We average around 40 MPG. It does not come with a spare tire although it has a tire kit to fix a leak. It has enough HP to pull the car with 4 adults in it up hill, but could use a little more HP to be a perfect car. As you drive the car it makes you think your in a VW Beetle with extra room and a better feel. We have problems with the air not always working like it should. each time it acts up , it usually is different than the time before. You may start out cooling fine and after a while driving, it just starts blowing semi cool air to not blowing cool air at all. Other times it may take a while before it starts cooling. Needless to say as we take it in to be repaired, they can't find any problems. The dealership has tried to replace different parts on it but when we pick it up, it works fine, then randomly goes back to working when it wants to. We have had the car in the shop at least 3 times already. I do like the car and enjoy the ride, however if the air worked like it should I would love this car.

An economical man's "DREAM CAR""

....I must start off by saying...W.O.W. What a fantasticly well designed vehicle for a consumer who is cost concerned about gasoline prices. I had previously driven a 3 cylinder metro...as a matter of fact still do from time to time. W hy...because its economical and practical and the car has served me well for 236,000 beautiful miles. Its just the kind of car a person foms a love relation with and then finds it very difficult to part with. But its time had come.and I realized it. I had to make the big decision. I read in a magazine about the car called "THE SPARK". After seeing the ratings on the gas mileage in several different magazines. I thought to myself...well...this is about as close to a new metro as I'm going to get., And so I decided to take the chance. I made the call to the dealer. Who by the way was extremely personable and vert friendly. We made the deal on the spot and over the phone. All within about 10 minutes. The very next day I went there. The car which was the one I had chosen was on the show room floor,,,...and it was ready and waiting there just for me... Boy...was I in for an educational experience. There was so much more there.....more there than I had ever anticipated. I was sort of like lost in all,.........all it had to offer just as a basic SPARK....... Lets see....air...4 position seats...stereo...power windows..brakes..steering...which is also height adjustable for comfort.....a computer for a dash which gives readouts on mpg..tire pressure...tripometer....and of course a power outlet for a tire pump. Also forgot to mention..from time to time it talks....it also comes with onstar . I've had the car now close to a month......and I am still learning from it.. On gas mileage...I have 3 different readings so far....66.1mpg....46.7mpg....56.1mpg.....all depends on the traffic...my driving mood.....and the moods of the traffic itself. When I am driving "THE SPARK" with my stereo on.....ITS LIKE A LITTLE BIT OF HEAVEN....I am about as relaxed in it as I can be....the outside world doesnt seem to bother me. Surprising emotion from such a small car ...because I feel like Im driving a much larger car . Welp.....what more can I say about "THE SPARK"..........WISH I HAD BOUGHT IT SOONER. ps. also wish I had more money so I could buy 2.

LOVIN' MY LEMONADE SPARK

I owned a Chevy Aveo for 8 years...time for an upgrade. My new 2013 Spark fits the bill perfectly. Great gas mileage...I get lots of compliments on the "cute car"... Affordable, stylish and perfect for me! Love the lemonade color too! Hope to drive this one for many years as well! Thanks again for a really cool and reasonably priced car. The dealership I worked with was awesome....drove the car right to my door!

Good Little Car For the Pricetag!

What this car lacks in power it makes up for in style, fun, and features. The tiny engine tends to struggle when you first take off from a standstill and as you hit the 30-40MPH range, but it can still hold its own in the fast lane with the big boys! The interior is surprisingly roomy. Adults will find enough room in the back for their legs (I've had passengers in back over six feet tall with little complaint). The seats themselves are quite comfy. The wide array of standard features are where this budget car shines. The list of features is not your typical budget-length at all. Power everything, cruise control, and Bluetooth integration is just the tip of the iceberg. Being able to make handsfree calls is wonderful, as is the ability to stream Pandora radio from my phone. The speakers are a little tinny, but it's right on par with similarly priced cars. With mostly city driving, I average 30-31MPG. The number soars upwards with highway driving. The only downside is I still need to fill up as often as I did with my old car because the fuel tank is so small. I'll take six to seven gallon fillups once a week over ten gallons a week, though!

Weak

I rented and drove this car for a week in northern Spain and southern France. In short, the car is competent for getting around town, but is not a good car for distance driving, especially if confronting hilly terrain. In a small French village, we went down a steep winding street and discovered no outlet at the end. The Spark lacked the power needed to back out of the street--it screamed and smoked, unable to power itself enough to back up the hill. We had to get local villagers to help us push the car backwards up the hill.

Nice car, but!!!!!!!!!!

I have owned this 2013 Chevrolet Spark since November of 2012. It has a great style that catches many peoples attention. The colors are unique and stand out. The interior has more room than you would expect from a car its size. I really enjoyed the car until summertime arrived. The air conditioning is seriously flawed. It will cool when you are driving the car, but it will blow warm air when you are sitting at a red light, parked in your driveway or anytime the engine is idling. The dealership cannot repair it, because it is a problem with how the air conditioning was designed. The engineers at Chevrolet are looking to repair the problem, but they have known about this problem since the beginning of June and no resolution has been sent out to my dealership. Avoid this car or wait until they have worked out the problems with this car. If they can fix this problem, I will be happy to keep the car.

My first new car!

My best friend bought one of these about 6 months ago and she loves it which is why I decided to buy one. I have had her for just one week and I am in love with her already. I just have the basic automatic, no frills, but that's all I need. Just air conditioning and music and I'm good to go. I can't believe how reasonable the price was and the car is so stinking cute, inside and out. They did a great job with the design and the interior doesn't look cheap, it is nice for the price. I am thrilled with my new car, and now one of my coworkers and friends are planning on getting one too.
