The best economical vehicles I’ve ever owned.

This vehicle is very reliable and great on a few economy. It also has plenty of room even though it is a smaller style SUV.

Questionable value for money

Slow with the 1.0L engine but this vehicle is sold world wide. In the US, I guess we just expect more power. Worldwide the Ecosport is sold most commonly with the 1.0L EcoBoost. Often, it is the desired engine choice to have. Most of the world raves for the 1.0L FWD combination. It's ride is better than most reviews give. Go for the Titanium trim. Get the leather seats, NAV, heated seats, premium sound system. I drive high mileage. I wanted these features. Yes it's limited on safety options that getting to be standard or are least common place options. The SES sportier models has a stiffer ride. The Titanium has softer suspension smoothing some rough roads. Potholes still rattle through though. The SYNC 3 is user friendly and by far best in class. Honda and Toyota could only dream of such a good system. I don't that credit goes to Ford, I'd say credit goes to Microsoft for designing the system. Its not big, rear seat is tight. This vehicle isn't for hauling for adults. It's for a high mileage single commuter and cruising around with a spouse or significant other. Maybe for a budding family with kids still in car seats maybe it works for rear comfort. In my case also, maybe a great vehicle for a downsizing set of empty nesters. Seats are comfortable, higher trim offer lumbar support and 3 levels of heating and heated steering wheel. The vehicle has more cargo area than the Ford Fiesta or Ford Focus hatchbacks. It does decent hauling tools or groceries, or some camping items. Rear door is a swing gate. Ok with me. Honda and Toyota had it on older previous model vehicles. Ford does it, seems to be crime. I live in a rural area. I honestly can't recall last time I even parallel parked a vehicle curb side. Let alone, loaded materials into while doing so. Only negative I see is if raining, a normal rear door hinged from top provides a roof over head from rain while loading or unloading items. I drive high mileage, xxxx notice a theme. The Ecosport has been on sale in current form since 2012 overseas. It's proven. Transmission is no longer the dual-clutch disaster that plagued the Fiesta and Focus. Ford abandoned that. It's a normal 6speed auto like found on the Escape. The 1.0L engine has been in production since 2012 first appearing in 2013 model vehicles. Some issues did occur. Ford engineers have revamped a few things and hoses associated with those failures. World-wide nearly a million of these 1.0L 3 cylinder engines have been produced. Current annual production is about 200,000 units worldwide. It's proven, multi, international engine of the year awards. The 2.0L in the AWD models is borrowed from the Focus. It's practically unchanged in over a decade and somewhat old school not even offering any high tech stuff like direct injection or turbo charging. Engine noise is noticeable. Cabin noise is too. Both are within normal expectations for it's class. Even with the sluggish 1.0L engine the vehicle has usable towing capability. The top 2 rated SUV's in this class offer zero towing capability, Hyundai Kona and Honda HRV. I like Ford's medium light stone interior. It's kinda a greyish/ beige color. Something other than coal bin black, or a drab grey color. Big reason why I bought and bought other Ford vehicles. I just hate black interiors. In the praised Honda HRV you can get grey interior instead of black. It's limited in availability and only available in 3 exterior color choices. I personally went with the shadow black exterior paired with the contrasting beige interior. Then there is the AWD option. Key word, option. I live in Pennsylvania where 4wd seems to rule. I specifically went out of my way to track down a FWD Titanium trim version of the Ecosport. I drive high mileage. I wanted the FWD that yields marginal better fuel mileage. FWD, with added taxes, save upfront about $1600 over the AWD. Long term, less fuel to buy, less parts for long term maintenance. I sometimes drive enough miles I can wear a set of tires out in a year. It's just makes more sense to winterize a vehicle and purchase a set of dedicated winter tires when that time comes. Can only use one set of tires at a time. I like the fact that I can purchase a top trim Titanium Ecosport and not be forced to pay for AWD and not forced to feed it more fuel week to week hauling an AWD system around. In the deep South good look finding many small SUV's at all in AWD. Not everyone feels they need AWD.

Not for highway commuters

I was looking for a higher end late model used SUV with AWD when I noticed dealer incentives priced a 2018 model at or below the used vehicles. The dealer took me for a short test drive around the city and the drive, while bumpier than a vintage Subaru I own, seemed fine. The Echo I bought had a lot of nice features, including AWD, heated seats, a backup camera and a nice entertainment system. I bought it on the spot and only realized when I took it on the highway after they delivered it what a mistake I made. The Echo struggled to accelerate, was a noisy drive and never came close to the listed mpg. I take the highway every day to work and log even more miles on the weekend. I was so disappointed I considered trading in the car for a used vehicle with 50,000 miles. I thought better of that as I think this vehicle may be a perfect fit for a single person or couple who live in a city ( whom I hope to sell it to soon) but it is definitely not for a frequent highway commuter.

Wimpiest Car I've ever Owned

This car is tiny and uncomfortable. It also comes with many "for your safety" features that they can scrap altogether as far as I'm concerned. When you hit the gas the RPM'S fly but, the car does not move so if you're in a jam don't expect it to be able to shoot forward at any speed, it's more likely you'll get hit. I gave it good reliability cause it's brand new and better be going but, it sounds like a moped. Maybe if it were a manual, that would be a better design for this car. Good car for a 16 year old learning to drive. Also you can consider this car as a two seater. Nobody fits in the back since it's so small you have to push the front seats way back.

The best vehicle I have owned

I have had 20+ vehicles in my 50 years, plus I have driven at least that many more belonging to other people, and this little gem is like a compilation of the best things of all of them. I have the 4WD version with Titanium trim, so all of the bells and whistles, and it stand up to Volkswagen's top-level trims without being so complicated. The seats are very comfortable, the heat and air conditioning are great, the audio system is absolutely fantastic, it could be a little peppier overall, but the trans has a "Sport" mode that works great for overtaking and passing, also, the 4WD has been flawless in the 2018-19 Michigan winter snows and I have never got stuck so far; I have Blizzak tires mounted right now. This vehicle has all that a single person needs, and it would be a great safe reliable second vehicle for transporting children and running errands; it would be a great city commuter too, although spirited driving will give you mediocre mpg. I haven't seen too many around town and it is a shame. With the back seats folded down, you can fill it up with a huge amount of stuff, but be aware that the back hatch is really a 5th door and opens horizontally and is hinged on the driver's side, and this can present an access-issue for parallel parking. The touchscreen display has worked perfectly; I have an iPhone and I the CarPlay interface has been great; any issues have been "solved" by restarting my phone. The heated seats and heated steering wheel are the best I have experienced. You need to go into this knowing that the rear seats are really for children or shorter adults; there is no way an adult 5'8 or taller would be comfortable for anything longer than a quick trip unless the front passengers were also shorter than that; I'm 5'10 and there is no way someone my height could sit behind me w/o their knees pushing deeply into the driver's seat. That being said, this is an ideal vehicle if you want a solid safe real 4WD vehicle, and I found it to be the best option in its class as far as premium trim levels go, and I looked at and test-drove all of them. I don't typically leave reviews, but after owning the EcoSport for over 6-months and having zero issues with it, and after its great performance this winter in 6-10" of snow, I feel that this vehicle needs as much praise as possible! Go test drive one, you'll love it!

Awesome sized smaller SUV!

I used to own a Ford Escape. I was skeptical that the 2018 EcoSport would be roomy enough and drive as nice as my 2008 Escape. I was so wrong!! Smooth handling! Quiet drive! Very roomy upfront. Not as much room in the 2nd row but still plenty for 3. The trunk/hatch opens like a refrigerator door which for someone of shorter stature like myself is much easier to contend with. The Sync Connect 3 also great for handsfree phone use!

great little buggy

the only thing I don't is the trunk opens from the side and the space in the back is not enough. I am used to an Escape. I keep my seats down most of the time.

Ok so far, under powered. Just average. It's a small SUV. So far it's fine for going to work and back. Wish I would ave looked at other vehicles in this class
