Buyer beware

I bought a certified preowned ecosport with 39200 miles on it, at about 40500 miles the engine stopped working leaving me stranded. Dealership said its going to require a complete engine rebuild to repair. The acceleration is very slow, transmission is jerky, you feel every bump in the road, the interior is poorly designed, for example if you put a McDonald's cup in the cup holder it perfectly slides in while getting clipped by the emergency brake, ripping the lid off. Driving this thing I feel like I should be on a go cart track. Kinda strange to me that every other review on this site is 5 stars

My second brand new Ford.

Had an Edge and loved it but didn’t need a car that big and the Ecosport was the right size and price. The auto engine xxxx off is the only thing I don’t like.

After 500 miles

The 2018 Ford EcoSport is a hidden gem! All of the reviews show concern over its small stature. It has plenty of room for 5 and cargo can be inside (and outside with the addition of a cargo carrier...rails on both sides for securing the carrier). It drives/rides much better than a Ford Escape, which we also tested.

Under rated sub compact SUV

Honestly you think by reading national reviews that this car is absolutely horrible which is nothing further from the truth. for a more realistic review see international or CNET. Styling for me is what I like it actually looks like an SUV not so much a cross over. Much better looking than the supposed leader the Hyundai Kona. The interior is the same as the New Ford Fiesta that did not come to the USA. Yes there are plastics but plenty of soft touch and pockets to store stuff which is awesome. Remember this is now Ford's Entry level vehicle, the SYNC 3 8 inch touch screen is amazing looks way better than the Kona or HRV and works better as well. The dials in the interior are nice and modern I like that there is still Analog Gauges mixed with digital. Some criticize the lack of lane keeping assist, forward collision warning, SE and above come with Blind Spot Monitoring and a really good backup camera though. Honestly Ford should have made those other features an option but I would have not gotten them. How about actually driving and being an aware defensive driver? Also yes the sticker price can be high for an entry level vehicle but there is no way anyone should be paying MSRP this vehicle will have heavy rebates and incentives you should at least get 4K off sticker. I got the 1.0 Ecoboost and honestly power is more than enough for traffic ridden Socal getting up and staying at freeway speeds is not a problem. It is peppy in city driving and very easy to park. I get about 30 combined MPG which is solid. If you want slightly more power and traction spring for the 2.0 NA AWD version. Handling is solid very little body roll I can corner fairly aggressively without issue. Suspension is a little jittery though but very compliant. The transmission tuning could be allot better for the six speed, first and second gear are fine but the higher gears it seems like it can never find a sweet spot. Also FORD probably should have went with a 8 speed or ten speed for better MPG and acceleration. In conclusion this vehicle has been out in the world for about 7 years it got reworked in Europe and America for release. And is good flawed but not as bad as reviews would have you believe. A complete redesign that will likely look more like the 2020 escape is in the works. Hence why you should always be able to get a solid deal on the current one which has great tech, and equipment for the money. For domestics much better looking than the renegade or Chevy Trax.

Exceptional for people who have trouble seeing at

Easy to maneuver. Exceptional visibility during the day and perfect lighting at night. Only flaw was the visor can’t be put up flush to block the sun.
