2013 Ford Edge consumer reviews

It must be great to own a working Ford Edge... after spending $40K I dont have a safe, working vehicle. In the past year I have owned this car, it has been in the shop at least 1 day every month. It has issue after issue mostly around the Ford Sync system. For those of you who get a lemon w/this system watch out. You will have endless problems that will never get solved by the dealership. We were one of the first cars in 2013 that had this issue and the dealership accused us of lying, until on of the sales people got one and had the same exact issues. The Sync system is god awful... 1) system shuts down while driving 2) system stays on when car is turned off 3) gps takes 5 minutes after entering a location 4) back up camera freezes 5) the bluetooth never works. Fun things that ended up breaking... day 3- sunroof got wound up and completely broke even after I asked the sales guy if we should get a different car b/c it looked off. Month 9- seat belt had to be completely removed and reconfigured. The first Ford Edge we had was so bad we had to trade it in for a new one. The only car they had similar to ours was the Limited. We ended up having to pay the upgrade (thanks a lot Ford) out of our own pockets and they dinged us for every mile steeply. Other inconsistencies about the vehicle- 1) gets bad gas mileage on average 18 mi/gallon and thats highway 2) certain gas pumps wont work w/the vehicle. The magnetic capless gas pump didnt work with a smaller sized pump. This was extra fun when we pulled into a gas station and thought something was very wrong with our car. Of course why would the dealership warn consumers of such a thing????? I hate Ford. I hate this Ford Edge. And I wish I had any other car but this one.

I purchased this vehicle primarily on my experience with my 2010 Edge. I put 93,000 mies on the 2010 with not major maintenance. In the 2-1/2 years I owned it the only repair I had was to work on the air circulating fan. In my 2013 I have found some features that I really like 1. The backup camera is improved and has an excellent display and is easy to use even in high sunlit areas. 2. The adaptive cruise control is really great for freeway driving and makes driving a lot more relaxed, 3. The voice activation system works great, takes a bit of use to find the right words sometimes, but you get the hang of it quickly. 4, Has plenty of power and acceeration. So far my expectations have been met. I have had the car fdor 3 weeks and have 3,000 miles on it already. Am extremely satisfied with my purchase and would recommend this vehicle to anyone, Am looking forrward to see what the 2015 has, as that is about when I will need a new one.

Great car. Ford Sync with voice command and touch screen is amazing. I became adept at getting around in the system with no assist beyond the initial walk through from the sales person. I am by no means a technical person.

Looks good, economy as advertised, tons of capacity for hauling, peppy 3.5 six cylinder. Lots of body roll in the corners, but then it's not a "sports car" per se. Overall quite pleased!

The car feels safe and looks good. Also made in USA I am putting that on the front of the car. Make a statement

I love how a Ford drives. Very smooth. There are a lot of blind spots in the vehicle. I do wish the seats were electric because it is hard to get the perfect fit. I also wish Ford would get a lot of women together to design the dash and the interior, period. I would give my thoughts to them for FREE! Not enough places to store things inside.

The Ford Edge is an amazing CUV for the money, now first off i am going to say i bought a stripped down fwd SE. is has all the features i need and missing all the extras i don't want (see con's for feature i like but couldn't get . The styling is the best out there for an American CUV, the ride quality is very smooth with the 17" wheels, almost floatsdown the road, if you want a little rougher sporty ride opt for the 18" or larger. Power is very good almost scary when it really kicks in. the ecoboost would be a better motor for me, wasn't worth the extra thousand. The interior fit and finish is very nice not too must plastic, no shiny chrome to blind you. Placement ot controls are pretty good could be designed way better. This comment is for all companies not just Ford. Do away with the shifter its connected to a computer. lets all go to push buttom and add more space for misc things. Pros: Size, Comfort, Cost, Look Cons: Stereo, i want all companies to go back to single or double din radios, i want to be able to easily upgrade. i don't want to spend money on all the options i don't care about.butthere was No Moonroof option on all levels, don't want an all glass roof, Ecoboost motor not standard on FWD, with v6 only for AWD. the SE option package with sync,auto headlights, and exterior keypad should be standard no an option then they would be in line with the basic features of the Foreign CUV. also this is fo all companies too, grow up and do away with the cheap black platsic look this isn't a work truck or off road jeep. Okay here is the kicker and where i get yelled at i want a 2 door version of this vehicle, why well my two favorite vehicles have been the 2 door explorer sport and the 1994 thunderbird, The edge has the comfort and style like the thunderbird, and the space of the explorer. Bottom Line is even though the cons list is long, most of it is personal preferences about how a vehicle should be built along all companies. i would buy one again, and i would buy one for my wife too. in my personal opinion the Escape should have been axed and the edge should be the only Cuv in the lineup. its the same size in length and weight and better looking.

The edge is fantastic, a new generation cars, excelent fuel economy in ecoboost engine 2.0 lt, excelent interior design, im happy with my new car.

I traded in a 2012 F150 FX4 fully loaded on my new 2013 Ford Edge Limited, also fully loaded. I loved my pickup and had zero intentions of trading it in, we went shopping for a truck for him.. While we were doing business for his truck, we just kept looking at that Edge sitting on the showroom floor and fell in love with it, only seeing the exterior, the TWO sunroofs, and the cavernous interior it has when the back seats are down. Since I was used to driving a pickup, the test drive didn't go so well but I knew I would get used to it. So we proceeded to purchase the car and by morning I had buyers remorse. What had I done!?! OMG I traded in my gorgeous 4x4 truck on a CAR thingy!! I got in the car and went to the store and fell in love. I had test driven at 9pm thru a neighborhood. I LOVE this car! Yes, I call it a car, it feels like a car, but I don't feel like my bootie is dragging the ground as I drive down the road the way I do in a car. Parking it, after years of driving 4x4 trucks is a breeze, it seems to fit anywhere. I prefer the Sony system in my trucks over the my touch, but I'm used to it now and have zero issues operating it. However.. I use an iPhone 5 with a cord(there are TWO USB ports) and at times, I do manage to confuse the stereo to the point I have to listen to the sat radio instead of my tunes, but it has only happened a couple of times and it happened when I tried to surf thru the songs on my iphone via the touch screen. SIRI and Sync are just awesome together! I can use SIRI to send a text via voice thru the Sync System and the only time I touch the phone is to activate SIRI, the rest I do thru the Sync system =) Ambient lighting!!! Too cool! Push a button in the rear of the car and the rear seats fold down. Love. Don't get me started on the Adaptive Cruise. .Love Love Love Will never be without it again! It has become as essential as the rear backup cam! Until you drive adaptive cruise thru a construction zone, you likely won't understand.. But once you do.. Set your cruise for 75 and your car follows the car in front of it without riding their bumper, maintaining their exact speed, even if its 25 mph, you wont need to use your brakes and disturb your cruise settings. As soon as you are able to pass, your cruise picks up the previous speed. One thing about the cruise, make sure you pay close attention to how to set it, else you could(and I did) set it to go a speed much faster than you intended to. The door panel pockets.. I admit.. those have a lot to be desired. Objects inserted may be lost forever as the pocket goes back further than the opening does and you cannot get your hand to the back of it. Only two cup holders and I am used to having immediate access to 5 from the drivers seat in my F150. There is nowhere to put my cellphone, pens and other small items that I am used to having a place for in my F150. Gas mileage Ehh.. It's ok. Certainly better than what I got in my 4x4. 21 average, and 27 on the highway. I didn't buy the eco-boost. Ecoboost and AWD are the only options my Edge does not have. I currently have close to 4,000 miles on my Edge. I love the Vista roof! I admit the roof was what sucked me in, and I don't regret giving up my 4x4. I bought a cheap beater truck for the very rare times I need a pickup bed, but my Edge did come with a tow package, so that wasn't necessary. I will keep this car until cars that drive themselves are mainstream. This one is almost there =)

Purchased a loaded 2013 Limited with 8 miles on it. Two days after purchase tire sensor warning came on, but there were no issues with tires. It spent two days in Ford service to resolve the issue. At just over 600 miles, while driving around 40mph I had a loud violent jerk that shook the entire vehicle. After that, it made a hard jarring clunk every time when downshifting into first. Back to service where it has been for 12 days and counting. They found metal in transmission and replaced valve body but it did not fix issue. I owned vehicle for 51 days and Ford service has had it for 14 of those days (and counting).
