Everything I?ve Ever Wanted
Love the safety of this thing. The new technology now blows my mind and it really is safer. The inside is beautiful with the leather and there is so much room in the trunk!

Best mid-size 2 row non-luxury crossover
I bought a fully loaded Sport model. Compared to the Lincoln MKX, it has a slightly less powerful engine, a lot less luxurious interior, but most of the same features. However, I got mine at a steep $9000 discount so it only cost $40000. The fully loaded Lincoln was $58000 even after applying a $7000 discount. It was a stretch to believe the Lincoln was worth $18000 more. I also liked the exterior styling of the Ford better. The Ford drives great, is very quiet, and has a smooth ride. I'm sure the Lincoln is superior is all these respects, but is it worth the price difference? I shopped a few other cars in the same price range: Nissan Murano, Subaru Outback, Kia Sorento, Hyundai Santa Fe Sport. The Ford is a lot more powerful than all of them. I didn't like the exterior appearance of the Murano and it drove poorly. However, the Murano did have the best seats and interior design. The Outback is not as stylish but seemed the most practical. It was missing some options the others had like cooled seats and panoramic sunroof. The Sorento had no real weaknesses, but was not as sporty in exterior appearance and driving behavior. It did however have a better looking interior. The interior of the Hyundai looked and felt cheap. The steering of the Santa Fe lacked precision. On the negative side, the Ford's gas mileage is by far the worst of this bunch. Also, though its massive 21 inch tires look great, the cost to replace them will be high. I also shopped some large compact SUV's like the Honda CRV and Toyota highlander. The Edge has a lot more room, has a lot more features, is much quieter, had a lot more power, and a better smoother ride than any compact SUV. Surprisinging, the fully loaded compact SUV's only cost a few thousand dollars less. I shopped the Lexus RX, which is a similar size, but it drove poorly and was too expensive (over $60000 with the same features). Of course, the Lexus was far more luxurious. Compact luxury SUV's (BMW X3, Audi Q5, MB GLC had better interiors with comparable features, but were too cramped especially in the rear seat. They also cost about $55000. The Acura RDX was priced more reasonably at just over $45000 but the quality was not much better than the Ford, and the Ford had more features. Also, the RDX is a lot less roomy.

Edges Continue To Get Better
I have been a Lincoln MKX person, but with taxes and the cost, I was able to purchase a Ford Edge Sport with Eco Boost and it's just as good, or better. Has most of the same options of the Lincoln, but I like the suspension and the extra power needed to get around someone if need be. I only have 600 miles on it now, since I don't drive too far, but so far the gas mileage is right on and love all of the safety features. I could have purchased a less expensive one, but being used to Lincoln SUV's, I wanted to keep the options as close as possible without having to purchase another Lincoln. So far it's everything is supposed to be and no problems of any kind so far. Love the wheels much better than my $60,000 Lincoln.

This is my second Ford Edge and I love it!
Having been a previous owner of real expensive cars, the Ford Edge has everything I need and more than I need. As well as provides luxury and economy. This is my second Ford Edge and I have no desire to purchase any other type of vehicle.

Sport version is a fast sleeper SUV that surprises
Moved from an Escape to the Edge. The Edge is slightly larger and as a driver or passenger you can feel it. More than adequate for 4 people, acceptable for 5 for short trips. Good cargo space. Sport engine is very fast for an SUV and catches other drivers off guard. In fact it's fast enough that you have to be careful of others who don't realize that it can move so quick. Gas mileage of course isn't very good. The vehicle handles just like an Escape. It does have a large blind spot on both the right and left sides due the pillar locations. These seems to be the new normal for all SUV's, not just Ford. The transmission is the only true let down on these vehicle. The computer never knows what to do and often is 1.5 seconds behind your foot action. Had a similar issue in the old Escape I traded in. Not sure why Ford can't get transmission computers to work effectively. It's not the the transmission's fault as it's the same one GM uses in its vehicles without the issue - Google and you'll learn that Ford and GM share transmissions. The Sport model also costs a lot of money. The safety features, which should be standard and are on other manufacturer models, drive the price up even more.
