Transmission Warning

At 90,000 my transmission failed. $3,100 later I've got a rebuilt transmission. My transmission guy tells me the transmissions in the Escape are from the Ford Countour/Mazda 626 and aren't built to handle 4-wheel drive. He sees these Escapes all the time and they all need the transmissions rebuilt. I cannot recommend this vehicle.

I love this car

this is the second escape that i've owned and i think they are reliable and great looking. i'm glad i got the v6, it's quicker and handles better than the 4 cyl.

Great Car For The Money!

I bought this car in June 2007 and so far it has been a great buy for me. The fuel economy is amazing for a compact-SUV. The one thing i would have to say is to definitley get the Limited edition because it comes with heated seats, sunroof, 6 cd changer, and leather! Its great! The one thing i don't like is that it is front wheel drive. Every time I tap the gas, my wheels start spining and i make a big scene, even when i don't mean to. But besides that this car is amazing for the money. The most reliable Ford by far.

"Fun to drive"

I've had this Escape for three and a half years and I haven't had one bit of trouble with anything. I wanted to give an American company a chance and this hasn't dissappointed. It's very peppy and handles well. The seats are a little too firm for long trips but I can live with it. I think it's a sharp looking vehicle both inside and out. The 03 has the shifter on the column which I like for giving me extra space. The newer ones moved it to the floor. I'm happy with this purchase and would recommend it to anybody!

No escaping this Escape.

It handles very well. The cornering is very tight. The speed and acceleration is powerful, especially for merging on highways or for pulling recreation vehicles. Make sure to rotate the tires though. Improper tread width leads to unusually noisy road noise. The price was very affordable compared to a larger size suv(Explorer, Jeep Cherokee..) Having grown up from the Motor city it's great to find yet another finely designed vehicle. Thumbs up Ford Motor Co.
