Very disappointed

When I saw the car in the showroom it looked great from inside and outside and I thought it would be a great car for my wife. We have had it now for almost 6 years now and havent had any mechanical problems but to be fair we hardly use it. It has only 32000 miles. We dont like to drive it because the car is very noisy, tire noise, road noise, engine noise etc. Also everything inside the car squicks. The gasmilage is very disappointing for a small SUV. Average we dont get more than 13 to 14 mpg. That's even worse than the 1997 8-cyl Explorer that I had before, and not even close to what the factory tells you. Looks deceive. Everything inside the car looks nice, but the materials feel cheap and with small children in the car, wont last very long. The only positive about the car is it's reliability. In almost 6 years we only did the tune-ups and oil changes. No fun to drive because of bad gas milage and lots of noise inside the car.

Great SUV!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Super reliable and the 4 cyl. gets great gas mileage. Drives very smooth for a SUV! Have owned since 2005 and have had no major problems.

Most reliable new car I've owned

Bought Escape new in late 2005 and have put 135,000 plus miles. With exception of new tires (at 101,000 miles) & Btry & Brakes replaced- Have only had scheduled maintenance (oil, filters, transmission fluid, coolant). Wish could find another as reliable. Only minor complaint-interior noisy at hi-way speeds.Need to keep windows closed when listening to Click & Clack.

Best SUV ever

I just bought mine two months ago. When I was ready to buy I did a lot of research on compact SUV's. Every review that I read on the escape was positive. I found my '05 escape limited and fell in love with it. Love the leather interior, the reverse warning system. It handles like a dream. Not big and bulky like a full size suv more like a tall car. Very roomy and comfortable. This is my first ford, I usually buy imports but by far one of the best vehicles I have every owned. Will be keeping this until a new body style comes out for the escape and then I will buy another one. If you are looking for a great compact suv then this is the one for you. Can't wait for the snow. Bring it on, me and my escape are ready. :)

Great buy

I have had my Escape for about 3 months now and it is the second best vehicle I have owned thus far. The best being an '08 Ford Focus, but it was totaled in an accident. After having the Focus and being used to the extremely great turning radius, I do have to remind myself that it is technichally classified as a truck/SUV. The handling and responsiveness is great. Mine is an '05 Escape with AWD and a V6 engine. I have taken it off roading and it felt like I was on a road with a few bumps, even though it was on back roads and fields in the Rocky Mountains of Colorado. My fuel efficiency right now is about 25.5 miles per gallon. After going on a few trips with me in mine, a couple of my friends went out and got one for themselves. No complaints from them on thier Escape purchases yet. Mine has been used for commuting, family drives, towing, off-roading, and even helping a friend move. The back seats fold down completely flat and created an area about 6' long by 4' wide by 3' high. Like having a pickup but with a roof and seats in the back. GREAT multi-use vehicle, highly recommend one for any interested.

Too many mechanical problems

I love driving this vehicle but will not buy another one becasue in just 3 short years I have had to put a new transmission in it (at only 80,000 miles) and a new computer and engine coil. Transmission cost me $3,100, Computer cost me $765.00 plus an additional $160 in labor and the coil cost me $78.00. This vehicle has not retained it's resale value ever since the price of gasoline rose sharply

Love my escape

My 2005 escape has 70,000 miles on it. The only problem I had was a dead battery. (knock on wood) I think the handling is definitely the best and it is very reliable. I was not impressed with the features because mine does not have a lot but it overall get 5 stars. I never considered getting rid of it. I was actually looking for a new one.

Love it

I purchased 05 Escape V6 XLT used with 60000 miles on it. I love it. For such a little SUV its got great pickup. Its very roomy and comfortable. If I had to recommend anything it would have to be a automatic tail gait with a push button on the remote, but that is it. Eveything else I love about it.
