Dont buy used with over 80,000 miles.

This has been an awesome car for me. I bought it with over 80,000 miles on it and only recently have i had to start replacing things at about 110,000 miles. But it's a ford so be prepared to fix it.

I love my Escape

I am the 4th owner of my 2005 Ford Escape xlt. Only issue I have had is the leather seats. I don't like leather seats. It's broke down on me once and only because it needed a tune up. Tune ups for the vehicle is outrageously priced. Otherwise,it has been very reliable. I've had it for nearly 4years and put 44,000 miles on it. I bought it with 130,000 miles on it. If you take care of your vehicle it will take care of you. Not all Fords are bad apples.

Maintain it and you will be rewarded

I bought a 2005 XLT from a dealer certified used with 490 miles and saved a couple thousand. The car now has 215000 miles, has never had the check engine light come on. Engine still runs very quiet, from day one Mobil One every 5000 mi and no shortcuts on Ford recommended scheduled maintenance. Replaced the usual brakes, tires, battery, wheel bearings and front end items..... Great car, excellent package total ownership cost very low.

I Got A Bad One

For the first 4000 miles I really liked this car, no surprise, right? As the miles piled up over the 10 years that I owned it I kept making excuses for all of the aggrivation I was experiencing because I liked the car so much. It was wonderful to drive, but not so pleasant to own. From the beginning I had to replace defective brakes,(replaced free). Front seat covers came apart ( I am a single man in his 60's), rear door window worked intermittently. Dash light bulbs kept needing replacement. both cooling fans needed replacement. A/C system was replaced, and the computer module went. The last few items alone were almostare very costly. Then a loud vibration stated in the front end. The mechanic said it was probably engine mounts. That's when I got rid of a car I wished I could keep forever....forever came sooner than I thought. I traded it for (HOPEFULLY) a good used .

I hate Fords

I really don't like Fords in general. I decided to give this one a try for my wife. Ok not all Fords are bad, this one runs and drives nice. Looks very good and gas mileage is a big surprize..20pg to 25mpg on the highway. So I guess I would say, if you can find a Ford with low mileage and good service records then don't be affraid to try it.

Would buy again!

I bought by 2005 Escape in 2006 one year used, its currently 2013 and it has around 165,000 miles on it!! Besides the obvious maintence : a couple batteries, some tires, oil changes, front bearings fixed, and brakes and rotors I have been so happy with my vehicle. Got an awesome deal for sure sure when I purchased it and always wanted one! Plan on driving this one until it won't go anymore!
