solid small suv

I've heard that people had problems with the Ford MY sync. It works great for me. The heated leather seats are comfortable in the winter climate. The MPG rating is achievable but you have to baby it. Avg 30 on highway but only 22 city. 1.6 liter engine was rated 24 and 33. Still, good considering less than 1,000 miles on engine. The dashboard is full of features. Lights everywhere...except the key location! Back seat lighting is limited too. I got the FWD instead of AWD. Works just as well in the snow 90% of the time. The other 10% you shouldn't be out anyway.

The 2013 Escape is a lemon

Stay away. Great looking car, but take a picture, don't buy one. Purchased one with the 1.6 liter engine, noticed leaking fluid right away, parked it 6 weeks later as part of the recall, and haven't driven it since. Folks who've driven the bigger engines don't seem to be reporting much better stories after a couple months of actual use. I loved it too for the first few weeks, but ask a mechanic: these things are junk. There are much better, more reliable options. You buy the 2013 model and you are taking a giant risk with your $30K.

If I could do it again, I wouldn't buy one.

I bought my 2013 Ford Escape 2.5L S about 6 months ago now. It boasts a class leading 22mpg in the city and 31mpg highway. Well, I have yet to get better than 17.5mpg on a tank in the city (usually closer to 16.5mpg) and I haven't gotten better than 27mpg on the highway. To be fair, I only have 3300 miles on my car...but really? That's not even close to what they claim the mileage to be. They say it takes 5000 miles for the engine to fully break in, but I haven't seen any improvement in mileage as I've put miles on it. Also, the car tracks whether you're and "Eco Driver" based on a number of factors and according to the car I'm a "100% Eco Driver" So why am I not at least the EPA MPG or better? On the flip side my wife and I also purchased a new Prius this year and right off the lot it got the mileage Toyota claimed and better. Now on to the SYNC system. This is my biggest problem with this car because it HUGE selling point for me. Well, to say the SYNC system is buggy is a huge understatement. Sometimes the radio won't turn off (which has drained my battery and left me stranded), sometimes it won't answer phone calls, won't recognize the blu-tooth, won't recognize the USB, etc. Basically if there's a function it's supposed to do it's a toss up whether it'll work or not. I've had it in the dealership four times for this issue. They've wiped the system and reinstalled the software twice and they've done a "service bulletin update" that was supposed to take care of everything.......nope, still doesn't work right. I've talked to Ford and they say they "Hope there will be a recall and fix for it in the first quarter of 2013" but the can't guaranty it. Even if that does fix the problems that's 5 trips in to the dealership for repairs to a new car in the first 7-8 months. That is unacceptable! Ford says their sorry, but refuse to do anything for me. I didn't buy a new car to have it in the repair shop constantly. The fact that Ford clearly released this buggy SYNC system, that they have no fix for, before it should have hit the market, makes me wonder about the overall build quality and long term reliability of the car. The good news is, the cabin is quiet, it handles well, it's comfortable and there is a lot of cargo space. I had it down to between the Honda CRV and the Escape and I really think I chose wrong.

Dramatic change for Ford

I purchased a 2013 titanium escape in June. The performance of this vehicle is exactly what I wanted. Tight turns, great excelleration with the 2.5 ecoboost engine. Had to take it back in twice for problems with the SYNC system and still have some glitches. My recommendation for people wanting a great car with fantastic performance and fairly good gas mileage is to get a more basic model of this Escape. You will not be disappointed. If you're a 'bells and whistles' person, find another car. Too much money to not have the kinks worked out of the Microsoft Sync.

Titatium 2.0 Ecoboost!! Ginger Ale!! LOVE IT!!

I absolutely love this beautiful 2013 Ford Escape Titanium Yes, it feels like a spaceship but is so cool looking I feel! I did own a 2002 Boxy Ford Escape I loved! However, it comes nowhere near this beautiful Ford Escape Titanium and I would NEVER go back! Sorry to those of you that love Boxy but the times they are a changing and making advancements and wonderful vehicles! Like my titanium!! Thanks Ford!

Comfortable

Have had the Escape about 2 weeks and love the comfort and the ease of driving. Still getting use to all the " bells and whistles"! Especially like the powered driver seat and the heated seats.

So far an excellent vehicle in every way.

Don't know about reliability yet. I only have 800 miles on it. There has been a Ford recall with an overheating problem, but I haven"t had a problem. Took it in to Ford and they gave me a car to use at no charge untill the problem is identified and corrected.

'13 Ford Escape Titanium Almost Everything Desired

The 2013 Ford Escape Titanium I purchased has the 2.0 L Engine. Not the one with all the recalls. It is a fantastic vehicle. Only one drawback, it has no coin tray or place to put miscellaneous items or cellphone. Otherwise it's perfect.

I look for excuses to drive this car somewhere

I drive the Titanium FWD model and at this point am in love with the car to the point that I searched out a consumer review site to tell everyone about it! I have the car pretty much fully loaded with the sync, nav, leather, power lift gate, sunroof, etc. I love the tech, everything is so hands free. The car has no problem communicating with my phone via bluetooth and recognizes it every time i enter the car and connects seamlessly without me pressing any buttons...big perk for me! center console unit is fine for me, but I am good with electronics and I can understand if some would have somewhat of a tough learning curve getting used to it because not every control is intuitive. The sirius app had a minor software glitch and wouldn't let me browse but that got ironed out quickly after i paged through the software. I would suggest purchasing extended warranty strictly to cover the electronics. Voice recognition has never misunderstood what I say, and I actually have been using it pretty frequently (which surprised me). I average 30 mpg on the highway using cruise control with only 200 miles on the odometer, I assume that will improve as the engine breaks in. If you use the turbo a lot or drive in sport mode these numbers will suffer significantly but I guess thats what you must trade for the fantastic performance the vehicle offers. Power lift gate is great, and i really like the programmable garage door/gate opener on the visor. Ambient lighting makes the car look very fancy at night, and you can choose what color to display. HID headlights with LED strip looks great. Keyless remote is awesome, and remote start allows me to warm the car before I enter it from the house. I'm in outside sales and this is perfect for transporting equipment and customers. To be fair, the past 3 cars i've driven were 89 wrangler, 94 ford econoline, and 2004 ford taurus, so compared to those this is like a spaceship. All my friends agree that this is a very sharp, luxurious, and features-packed vehicle. Very happy with my purchase!

Nice car

I have owned the basic 2013 Ford Escape S model for a month now. I like the car. I was concerned about a 4 cylinder, but it has plenty of power and I am averaging 27 MPG, which is great. The front seats are not very comfortable, the back seats are very uncomfortable. MY main complaint is that when I am going downhill and using my brakes, when it downshifts it surges forward a bit. It also has a bumpier ride than I am used to. I had a Buick Century previous, and it absorbed the bumps better.
