Brake and steering issued

I just bought this car at 220% of trade in, I guess this is the way buying a used car is. But there are 2 major problems that are not recalls. First, the steering wheel is tight and the car goes sideways. I am hoping it is the alignment. Second, the brakes shudder. We have this checwh3n we get the alignment as well.

replaced engine

Purchased the car with 20,000 miles and the engine had to be replaced at 42,000 miles, Ford paid to have it done. Other than that the car has been very good.

Stay clear of the Ford Escape

I thought I loved my 2017 Ford Escape until yesterday. 72,000 miles and the engine block is cracked and coolant is leaking into the engine. Needs an engine rebuild at the low low cost of $7,700... Checked around town and no one else rebuilds the engine.

Engine blew

Own 2017 Ford escape with 28,000 miles. I am 68 yr female and use the car usually just around town. My 4th cylinder blew with no prior warning and Sheeny Ford can find no reason for it and it's out of warranty. Engine light appeared just after car shook and I immediately pulled over. Why?? No one can answer. Feel it has to be a defect car has had regular maintenance

Headache after Headache

Did not have the engine replacement problem. It did have an engine wiring problem that made me have to stop and restart due to wiring fastened to a square post. Slipped thin plastic strips between post and wiring. No further trouble. Every electronic device on car has failed consistently intermittently. More trouble than all other cars I’ve owned total in 50+ years. Replace before warranty expires.

4 Years Without Any Problems

Have had mine for 4 years and it has been one of the best vehicles I have ever owned. Mine is the SE trim which is not fancy, but has all the basics and more. The seats are comfortable on long drives. The controls are easy to use and properly placed foe ease of use. The 2.0 L engine is surprisingly peppy. The ride is smooth and comfortable for a small SUV.

Known engine gasket failure.

At 70200 miles the head gasket failed and coolant began seeping into the cylinders. The engine had to be replaced. The reason for the gasket failure was the walls between the cylinders were to narrow and thus the gasket was not heavy (thick) enough between the cylinders. Ford was of no help in this matter. They wanted $12.000. to replace the engin. I had to settle for an after market used engine. This is (was) a known matter for years yet Ford made no effort to help.

My Ford Escape.

I bought mine used with 17,000 miles for $17,000, and it's a 2017. I guess 17 was the lucky number lol. My Escape drives well, feels very comfortable, and is pretty good on gas (average 4 banger gas milage ) beats any 6 or 8 cylinder. I have the base model , so the engine isn't the fastest, but I'm not racing anyone ever. I never feel underpowered, or unsafe on highways. This little truck holds own in any senerio. I'm not sure why people are giving negative reviews maybe competitors trying to sell their brands🤔 . This is a good suv , and it looks great. I would buy it again, it keeps me warm and safe in Chicago winters. Cranks everytime I turn the key even in sub zero temps. I remember Chicago being the coldest place on the planet for 24 hours a couple of years ago. I worked that night I believe it was -50 or close with the wind chill. I worked that night as a nurse , my escape ran like a trooper. If a vehicle runs in Chicago winters .....it's a tank and passes my test hands down. My 2011 BMW x 3 ummmm.....failed as a winter vehicle. It costed twice as much BEFORE THE "CHIP SHORTAGE" PRICES . Need I say more ????
