Amazing Quality

I have had many nice cars in the past ..Lexus 330 and the last was a InfinityQX56 and i have to say that this new Ford is right up there,in many ways even nicer.

Miss My Expedition

I ordered the Explorer sight unseen and made a mistake by not driving it first. It is miserably slow, costly to own, operate and maintain (if not for warranty I'd be broke). Was pleased with my Expedition, which felt more substantial and free of technical glitches that plague the Explorer Limited I own. If I had done my homework I would be driving a Toyota Highlander, Honda Pilot or '11 Jeep Grand Cherokee with V8 power-train. The Explorer has a love or hate look. The front is odd, but anemic from all other angles. I prefer something more rugged or upscale for the expense. The Ford is not as solid as my past Expeditions. Gas mileage was a concern so I thought the Explorer would have been perfect. MPG is no where what Ford claims on the Explorer. I do like the seats and fairly spacious room up front for two. The middle row is meant for two passengers and the way back is impossible for even children to gain access. Once there, a claustrophobic feeling makes you wonder if you could exit in an emergency. I am still a Ford man, but not one of the '11 Explorer.

Could've had a V8

Have been a happy owner of Ford F-Series pick-ups. My wife wanted an Explorer after driving a Buick Enclave for 3 yrs. & simply wanting a change We like Ford trucks, but was never keen on any brand other than Cadillac or Buick for car buying. The Buick gave us a flawless driving experience, but have been so happy with our Ford pick-ups that we looked at the Edge, which is rather small. The Flex is rather quirky. The Expedition, too big and wanted another car-like crossover that would be better on gas than our other vehicle, my King Ranch pick-up, a good truck, but terrible on gas. The '11 Explorer is mediocre compared to the Enclave. We find the interior attractive enough, but fit & finish are deplorable. Giving FMC the benefit of the doubt, the Explorer mat be suffering from teething pains. I think for this first year model. The interior is less roomy than we fathomed. The 3rd row seats are useless. Gas mileage is deplorable for a V6. The engine is too small for such a heavy AWD crossover. We are not sold on the exterior looks, with Pontiac Aztec inspired front fascia that we were feeling would grow on us. We haven't We acquired our Explorer Limited just under a month ago. However, it has been in the shop 3x thus far for quality control issues & phantom stalling problems. We hear a lot of accolades from new Grand Cherokee owners & enjoyed our rides w/ Jeep owning friends & neighbors. If things do not improve, we will return to GM or seriously explore the benefits of a Dodge Durango or Jeep GC w/ the V8 Hemi power that we think makes better sense for an off road SUV or Crossover.

A nice American car so far

I been driving the Ford Edge for almost four years now. I attended the LA Auto Show last Thanksgiving, Nov of 2010, I saw the All-New 2011 Ford Explorer. It was love at first sight! I now drive an all-new Ford Explorer XLT Comfort 4WD for more than a week now. I very much like the terrain management system, the Sync, 3D navigation, voice command, tow package, its exterior with 20" Polished rims, dual-panel moon roof, LED tail lights and most especially its stylist interior. Of course, its fuel efficiency to top it all. It seems they combined top European car manufacturers in its all-new Explorer. The interior seems to got its inspiration from both Audi and BMW combined from its trimmings, double stitching, dash board, speakers, etc. In terms of the cars stance, it's somehow similar to the Range Rover, including its better version of its Terrain Management System. I got to give it to Ford this time, for they did their homework in improving its design and functionality. Two thumbs up!
