Best combination for fun and economy
After several months of research and test driving, I settled on the Fiesta for the combination of price, fuel economy, and performance. I've had it for a year now and love it. I drive 40+ miles each way to work, and so I wanted a car that I'd enjoy driving. I've put 25k miles on the car already and have had absolutely no issues with it. It has the pick up necessary to get around cars that some comparable cars in its class don't seem to have, but it doesn't do it at the expense of fuel mileage like others. I've been averaging 34.5 MGP (mostly highway, but some city driving). I couldn't recommend this car enough -- it's a steal for the price that it's being sold for. I'm trilled to finally have a reliable American-made hatchback.

Such a let-down!
My first car was a 1984 Fiesta. I loved it, it was reliable and cheap. When it was re-released in the US I made it my first ever new car. I've had it 11 months and it's spent several weeks in the shop, is on it's third clutch and the transmission has been a big headache. We've had noises, missed gears, major clutch slippage and all kinds of other problems. I took it to the dealer within two weeks of buying it to say the transmission was making a bad noise and was told it was normal for the transmission. I bought a new car because I was tired of working on used ones all weekend long, so I know good noises and bad noises inside and out. I kept getting the same story over and over again. First it was reprogramming the TCM, then a replacement clutch and two weeks later another new clutch, an internal seal and essentially a rebuild of the trans. Time for a Honda.

Dual Clutch Transmission
I've researched and driven an FF14 (Ford Fiesta 14). I learned that the FF14 trans sound is different because of the Dual Clutch Transmission (DCT) which is just being introduced in the US car production. The DCT is popular and considered to give the best MPG in Europe but it gives a different sound which Americans are unfamiliar with and may misjudge their Fiesta's transmission as defective or subpar. Ford needs to do a lot of consumer education program to introduce this great but noisy transmission.

This car is HORRIBLE
When I got the car, it shimmied and shook when in first and second gear. At first the dealer said it was "normal." The second time I brought the car in, he said MANY cars have this issue with the transmission and that parts won't be available for 45 days! And "the car is save to drive" (shaking all over the road??). It also gets very poor mileage--NOT want was advertised. And the tires slip on one drop of water. The car is a lemon, too much money, and if anyone buys it, you're taking a big chance.

This is a warning not to buy a fiesta.
I have a 2013 Ford Fiesta. I bought the car in March. Drove it for about a week and notice a strange noise. Took it back to the dealer and they said that's normal and that it was the transmission making the noise. 2nd week of driving the car i notice the transmission feels like your driving a stick shift and shakes and jerks a lot. Sometimes when you accelerate the car doesn't go, it just jerks. You have to release the gas peddle and step on it again for the car to go. Do your research, do not buy this car. read about the complaint on this vehicle. Worse car I ever bought in my entire life!!!

great car
6 plus months. Great car. 11,000 miles. No problems. Yes the transmission has a grind to it, but...it's not loud, alarming, anything, it's shifting. The constant complaints here about bad transmission are probably from drivers that ram on the acceleration and bust it at every light. I'm not saying I don't believe them, but I drive the car tough and I"ve noticed some hard shifts, and while in cruise it sometimes has trouble finding the gear, but this is probably 3 times so far in 7 months. All in all, it's stylish, comforable, great gas mileage, just a practical inexpensive auto. I'd never pay MSRP for it, and if you spend over 18K for a Fiesta, you might as well get a Camry, but 15K for mine, awesome deal. One comfort complaint, the cupholder thingy in drivers door imposes on my leg space, since I've got a wide stance and all.

Gone Too Soon :-(
The only real complaints I could have about this car (other than the fact that we had paid a bit too much for it) are the noise from the transmission and that it accelerated pretty slowly compared to other cars that I had driven before. Honestly, I don't think that the noise was as much of a big deal as other reviewers had made it out to be, but that might have just been me. Simply put, this car is awesome. I bought it used and only had it for five months before I had totaled it, but in our short time together, it had been both completely reliable and fun to drive. It's quite sporty and low to the ground and handles excellently. And most importantly to me, this car stood a battle with a 1986 GMC pickup (basically a tank) that plowed right into my driver door, and I emerged practically unscathed. And the car nearly did as well. My door was bashed in, but the rest of the vehicle was practically fine. The price of replacing airbags is what ended up totaling my car (nearly $900 per airbag, which was more than my entire door would have cost to fix!!). I wish I still had it. It was such a nice little ride :-(
