My car is a pretty good car except for the rocker panels

My car is a pretty good car except for the rocker panels rusted out.Almost EVERY focus that you see has the SAME PROBLEM.This is very disappointing. It should be recalled for that. Its rediculous.

This generation of Focus is a very good buy.

This generation of Focus is a very good buy. They are a long lasting car, I have done oil changes 15k-20k miles. My car is currently sitting at 298k miles on its original engine and transmission. It has had routine repairs like wheel bearings, a fuel pump, an engine mount and quite a few tires. If you’re looking for a cheap reliable car, you don’t need a Honda, you need this Ford Focus.

I wish they still made them.

Bought mine new in 2010 and I’m still reliably driving it in 2024 with almost 240k miles, with most being on the highway. I’ve kept up with the general maintenance as well as being a bit proactive with other things. The overall cost has been negligible, in my opinion, compared to the cost of monthly payments for any newer car. If they still made this car, I’d buy it again. Sadly, it’s too reliable for current business practices of needing customers to upgrade every 5-6 years.

Engine is good

Bought the car with 70k around 2016 now has 122k. Needed motor mounts, AC, valve cover gaskets. Runs good but a few expensive repairs, going to keep it until it fails. Engine is fine.

One of Ford's best!! Great little car

Bought my car with 53k miles and now with 157k still runs smooth . Very reliable, economical and the 2.0 engine responds well at the highway . Maintenance is cheap and like any car, when is not done properly it generates cars that will present problems. Ford Focus from 2008 til 2011 is one of the best compact cars of those years and Ford got it right. There are still lots of these cars running strong as long as maintenance was done . I love mine and strong recommend it !

An other Ford junk!

Bought it with 140k.Days after bought it ,the ignition switch went bad.The motor mounts are xxxx.Leaking cooling from left side engine ( freeze plug). Seats are not awkward ,no leg room in back seats. This car was designed to compete with Korean and Jap vehicles. No way .This is not a good car.How many you still see on the road ,compare with Corolas and Civics? Good luck guys!

2010 Focus! One of Henry's Best!

I inherited my 2010 Focus when my mom passed away, sadly. So, I'm sentimental about it. Frankly, I have never owned a car that I love so much. It's beautiful. The outside has a very unique body style. The engine is a wee bit weak, but very reliable. I have changed struts, Shocks, Engine Mounts and of course spark plugs etc. BUT just basic maintenance. I do use synthetics and additives, like Lucas Products and STP. And I do use 93Octane. I'm easy on the Transmission. In other words, I don't pull away from stops too quickly. One problem--I had to replace the Ignition switch behind the key on the steering column. And it went bad again within 5 years. So, since it's old and I'm keeping it, I had a guy do a Push Botton for me and saved about $400.00! I change the oil every 5,000. I live in Florida, so it's best to change it often. It's been repainted with Imron Aircraft Paint, BLACK--and frankly it's one of Ford's best cars--Too bad they switched that Body Style which was still the American Focus, to the German/English Focus version. Mine was built in Wayne, Mich. Love the car--"Henry, you done good with the '10 Focus!!"

Great cheap car

This is my 3rd Focus since it's debut in 2000. I love this specific year (2010 SE) Bought used with 79K . Currently has 95K with no issues whatsoever. Rides as it should and I get 35mpg in a highway (avg 80mph) Great commuting option and owes nothing to it's Asian competitors. Highly recommend it!!!

Its reliable

I bought a 2010 focus ses back in mid 2019 in California that had only 38k original miles on it for $6000 from a private party original owner on craigslist. the car had been sitting in a garage for years after the owner had a stroke and no longer drive any vehicle. So this focus i bought used looked, smelled and drove like a brand new car. It was surprising to me and was the best deal i could find at that time at that price range. The color was dark gray, paint was flawless, black interior and was flawless, still had new car smell, zero sun damage to anything, silver factory aluminum rims clean, all 4 goodyear tires like new, a/c cold, no accidents, current registration, all service records all from Ford, everything worked and everything in perfect working order. I was just lookn for a cheap car at the time and I wasnt lookn for this car at all. After i took it for a test drive, which did drive perfectly fine, i told the guy selln it i did like it but wanted to sleep on it and that id get back to him. Which gave me time to do research on this particular vehicle to which i found very low complaints. The next day he contacted me and dropped the price $300 and said he would take $6000 for it which was way under KBB for this car. So i said id buy it. it was just too good of a deal to pass up eventhough i really didnt want this car. Since i bought the car ive put about 10k miles on it and its been very reliable. i was planning to sell it, but covid happened and well, kinda got stuck with it and still own it. so far the biggest problems ive had with this car have been bad design motor mounts. Which causes vibration. And its NOT good. Ive already had to replace the engine mount and upper and lower trans mounts which i did myself with brand new OEM parts from Ford which did make a huge improvement, but the car still has very minor vibration that will never go away. Next was the lug nuts. I was going to rotate the tires in the drive way and found that the lug wrench that comes with the car from Ford nor any socket fit the lug nuts! i couldnt believe my eyes. I did some research and found out these factory lug nuts have a thin steel jacket covering over each one of them that over time ever so slowly builds moisture under these coverings which make these lug nuts swell to where you either have to use a 19.5mm socket or cut the steel jackets off each lug nut while still on the car!? then you can get a socket on them and remove them. So i cut all the jackets off, removed the lug nuts and then bought brand new aftermarket ones that solved this problem once and for all. Good thing i never got a flat tire while out in the world. Another problem im having is the front bumper cover is generally kinda junky and so is the rear bumper cover. Both of which ive had to insert small pieces of wood between the under side of the covers and the metal bumper. Which has worked to stiffn up these body parts. Also, heat shields along the exhaust system have started to rattle for some reason, vacuum hoses have started to rot out causing weird idle that ive been replacing, plastic head lights are starting to yellow, low tire pressure sensors have started to malfunction and the paint on these stock aluminum rims has been flaking off. Which i found out is a common problem. So i had to take each rim sand and repaint with spray paint. Other than that!? this car, as old as it is with only 48k miles on it now, is still reliable, got a little pep to its step full throttle and gets decent gas mileage. Would i recommend this car?! uh.. NO. i would never recommend this car. its not that its a bad car, its just, theres much better out there than this in the same class. As soon as our country gets back to normal a little bit more im selln this car. Ill never buy this xxx again.

Its good for a lower budget commuter car. I would get another for work, but a an RS this time. Its not very powerful, but reliable if taken care of.
