I Love My Freestyle!
I just love this crossover. We went to many dealers and tried many different types of crossovers, but the Freestyle was the most comfortable to sit in and drove the best. When I drove it the first time, I felt like it was home. So we bought it and I just can't tell you how much I like this car. The features are great, it is so roomy, everything is within arms reach, the console is huge and has plenty of storage. All of my friends love it to. Next car I buy will be the new Taurus X (which is the Freestyle re-issued)! I LOVE IT!
A Wagon for sure, but I like it
I bought a used 2006 Freestyle for my family of five and we really like it. The kids can easily get into the third row and there is more than enough room for all of their stuff. On a recent trip we drove more than 1,200 miles and got about 27 mpg (front wheel drive, CVT). If you are more concerned about getting your family from one place to another without using a lot of gas, than you are about what other people might (or might not) say about your car, this car is for you.
Perfect Car for Parents
This is an ideal car for parents who would like to haul stuff and people. Plenty of room. My family feels this is totally safe and reliable. Roof rack and stow-n-go is very nice. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this to my family or friends.
Enjoying the ride and gadgets
The Freestyle has been a lot of fun to drive around town and on the highway. The ride is comfortable and road feel is solid. A couple things that I have really enjoyed and have come to rely on are the reverse sensor and the navigation system. Gas mileage around town has been about 17 and highway has been 27 for our AWD.
Nice Ride, But Very Poor For Trade In
We bought our Freestyle in Dec of 05. We love the Freestyle and at the time we bought it we could afford it. We came under some financial problems and making the payments was getting real tight. We decided to make the move of trading it in for a car in the $10,000 range. When doing this we found that our Freesytle that we had purchased 9 months ealier for $27,000 ( and we owed 25,000 still on it, whitch ment even bigger proboems for trade in) now only had a trade in value of $17,000 and thats with a very generious dealer trade in. Needless to say we were shocked! We still have the freestyle and are trying to figure out what to do from here. As of right now I would not recomend the freestyle. It did seem a little under powerd for it size at times. I do know that Ford is coming out with a 2007 model. This was our first "Brand new Car" that we had ever had, and after all this I think we will be sticking to used.
great car/crossover
I live in Boston,Ma lots of snow. I bought my Freestyle in February 06.(just like the other New Englander). President's week sale. It is great for New England winters! The 3rd row can be a little hard to get in and out of. I like all of the room the Freestyle offers. Great for shuttling my 2 girls from soccer to ballet and every where else we go!
After Half a Year
I've had my Freestyle for about half a year. It's a great vehicle for long distance trips. A group of us (5 in all) took the Freestyle from Montgomery, AL to Dallas, TX and every one was comfortable, not one complaint. Gas mileage was about 25mpg (FWD here) for that trip. To respond to some of the complaints here. The 24mpg ESTIMATE is an EPA estimate for AWD, Ford is using the agency's number for the FWD model to claim 500 miles per tank. 27mpg at 19 gallons a tank gives a range of 513 miles. EPA estimates are known to be high-balled and it even says so on the sticker. If you're getting within the small type range that the EPA estimates, there shouldn't be a problem. Also, Ford is not dropping the Freestyle for the Edge. The Edge doesn't offer a 3rd row seat and the two will be sold side by side. 2008 should bring a Fusion like restyle and the 3.5 Duratec.
Nice vehicile overall
I like most everything about this car. My issues that I couldnt have known before buying were: Gas mileage on my AWD appears to be on the low end of what Ford states. I get about 20 mpg which is what they rate as around town. I drive half on the highway so I expected about 22 mpg. Not happening at all. Even on long highway trip I never saw the 24 mpg promissed by Ford. Fords recent campaign says 500 miles on a tank of gas. 400 is tops in my opinion. Also I was very dissapointed in the tan interior carpets. They show dirt bad and they scuff up and wear really easy. Very cheap I think. The rest of the car is all it appears and more. I still reccommend it !
2005 Freestyle
This unit sold base for about 24,000 during employee pricing in 2005. Ford unfortunately gave up on this vehicle and the price plummeted causing trade in value or resale value to go in the same direction. Obviously, in hindsight this car was overpriced. The V6 is underpowered for such a heavy unit. You can buy an 06 for much less brand new and as I hear it - Ford will stop production with the 06 model.
freestyle
I bought my 2006 Freestyle in February. I live in New England; it has been great in the snow! Very comfortable, I enjoy driving it.
