What Is the 2023 Genesis GV80?

The 2023 Genesis GV80 is a mid-size luxury SUV that can seat five or seven onboard, though the optional third row is a good option only for small kids. That’s the bad news. The good news is the GV80 is refined in how it operates, and it comes with features shoppers are looking for in a modern SUV, including a posh but minimalistic dashboard dominated by a 14.5-inch touchscreen; the vast majority of this system’s controls will be accessed via a rotary controller on the center console, as the screen itself presents quite a reach for the driver. It takes some getting used to, but practice helps iron out its functionality. The GV80 competes with the Lexus RX, Acura MDX and Lincoln Aviator.

What’s New on the 2023 Genesis GV80?

In addition to some minor alterations to the standard equipment on some trims, all GV80s now get standard all-wheel drive; rear-drive four-cylinder models have been discontinued.

What Features in the 2023 Genesis GV80 Are Most Important?

Standard features include:

  • 14.5-inch infotainment screen
  • Oil-life sensor
  • Dual-zone climate control
  • Apple CarPlay and Android Auto
  • Heated front seats
  • Satellite radio
  • Front and rear parking sensors
  • Lane departure warning
  • Adaptive cruise control
  • Rear cross-traffic alert
  • Safe exit monitoring
  • Hands-free power liftgate

Available features include:

  • Ventilated front seats
  • Heated steering wheel
  • 21-speaker Lexicon audio system
  • Head-up instrument display
  • Third-row seating
  • Remote parking assist
  • 360-degree camera system
  • Massaging front seats

Should I Buy the 2023 Genesis GV80?

The Genesis GV80 is an attractive entry in the mid-size luxury SUV market, and not simply because of its eye-catching exterior. A turbocharged four-cylinder serves as the standard engine, and it’s paired to an eight-speed automatic transmission. An optional twin-turbo V-6 delivers better pep — and a drop in fuel economy. Comfortable and nicely equipped, the GV80’s only serious blunder is its cramped third row. If you can live without the extra seats, the GV80 should earn a spot on your luxury SUV shopping list.

  • Perfect Vehicle

The GV80 is extremely safe and operates smoothly, in harmony with different driver preferences. It handles perfectly in the snow and ice with different drive mode options. Looking forward to another GV80 after this one !

  • Awesome car!

I have owned many cars over the years and this GV80 is by far the best car I have ever owned. Ride, comfort and handling are outstanding after 9 months of ownership and almost 10,000 miles. You can drive this car for hours and when you get out you are not tired or stiff. The sound system is excellent and the navigation system updates rapidly for road conditions.

  • Vehicle filled with Value

In today's day and age of rising prices and high interest rates , this car was definitely the best bang for my buck. The value in the technology, design, and comfort made the decision easy, throw on a great factory warranty coverage longer than most, I'd highly recommend... I'm a tall guy, it has room and comfort for days, Genesis has come a long way from its Hyundai days.

  • "It doesnt live up the hype"

Here is the real-world review after 10000kms and 9 months on the car, I think my opinion should reflect the realistic feel and experience with this car. First I think they are doing a very good job on the design which I personally think outruns the Japanese, especially on the interior. However, it does not provide the equivalent of power or driving dynamics that the Germans bring, nor the amount of reliability that most of the Japanese bring. The engine light occurred on the dash about 2 months after the purchase, and after multiple trips to the dealership including 4 month sitting in the dealership out of the 9 months of ownership. This car is still not fixed. It is hard to express the amount of frustration that this car brings, on top of that there is no lemon law here in Canada. But the story doesn't ends here, I think what really frustrate the consumers is the after-sale experience. If you take sometime and look at the google review or actual consumer reviews, you will find a hand of complains on the horrible after-sale experience. Me personally was lied by Genesis Motor Canada multiple times and was amazed by how unprofessional they are in terms of treating their customers. While expressing my concerns and frustration for my case towards Genesis Canada Motor (the headquarter), they responded with the same material (copy and paste) which left me speechless. So here to whoever is reading this and considering on purchasing a Genesis product, think twice. I think you can pay less and receive the reliability that the Japanese have, or you can step up and add a little extra for the "hospitality" and the power that the Germans provide. Sure, on paper it seems that the Genesis do provide a lot of value, but the actual experience does not live up the hype all those car reviews and advertisements. Until they figure out a way actually level themselves on part with the other "luxury" brands, save your money and time...

  • Refined Complexity

I have only had the car for two weeks so time will tell more - but so far very impressed. It is so complex it takes some time to learn all the nuances and get comfortable. It drives beautifully, is very comfortable, and I feel very safe. It’s somewhere between our XC90 and GLS450. Closer to the GLS.
