Still a joy to drive after 15 years
We bought our 2002 Civic EX used in 2009. We've NEVER had to have any work done on it (other than routine maintenance). It's also just fun to drive. I don't care about driving fast, or pay much attention to the performance, but it is "zippy" around town, and the shifting has remained smooth after all these years. There is a lot of road noise, and you feel the bumps in the road more than the average car (maybe I just need to update the suspension), but to my wife and I, these are minor issues, and they only add to the character of the car. We have 150,000 some miles on it, and it still runs like a champ. My biggest complaint is the radio--the clock runs slightly slow, so after a few months you have to reset it (one job, clock!), the track reverse button for the CD player has never worked since we purchased it (used), and now the forward button is beginning to be be difficult to depress. That sounds like a lot of complaining, but overall it is by far the best car I've ever owned. The quality of all the interior/exterior materials seem high, and the overall experience of driving is just plain enjoyable. We will run this one into the ground, and it might be a LONG time before that happens.

I love this car.
I purchased my 2002 Honda Civic LX 4 door sedan in 2002. I am still driving it today, 14 years later. It has been EXTREMELY reliable and EXTREMELY economical. In the first 14 years the only thing that had to be repaired (replaced) was the front struts. I did have the usual maintenance done of timing belt replacement at about 110,000 miles, one battery replaced at about 7 years old, one set of brakes and then of course the routine oil changes and fluid flushes and fills as recommended in the manual. Oh, and one or two sets of tires. At 14 years old I did need to replace bushings and links and the oil pan gasket has a very slight minimal leak that does not drip on the garage floor but was spotted by the dealer. Also, at 14 years I purchased the second battery in the life of the car. So the average cost of the actual "repair and replacement" (not counting tires, batteries, brakes, timing belt and fluid fills and flushes) for 14 years was less than $10. per month. The only regret I have is not changing and lubing the screws to the air filter area (for the engine) as the screws have seized and I am told that I need to replace the entire assembly for about $300. This could have been avoided had I known such a thing could occur and just removed, lubed and replaced the screws regularly. Also, I did not have it tuned up ever so now, unless it starts to have trouble it is recommended not to do this as the threads in the plugs may be seized in place also and that repair would be costly also. But, live and learn. All in all an extremely reliable and inexpensive car to drive. It handles very well, has NO rust at all, goes really well thru deep snow and pretty much drives like it did when I bought it 14 years ago. I would HIGHLY recommend a Honda Civic LX to anyone. I did hear that for a few years (not quite sure when-maybe in the 2010 range) that they were having some issues. But the year 2002 sure is a winner.

Best Car Ever
I bought my Honda civic lx new, in 2002 in California. I drove the car from CA to Virginia with 100K miles without a problem. It has more than 200K miles now, and it runs great. I plan to keep driving this car for many more years, as it seems to be better than recent Honda models.

Loved this car
This was my first car. I'd driven other cars before, but this was the first car I'd bought, owned and taken care of. It lasted us almost 190k miles, and only didn't last longer because I took a corner too fast on a slippery day and totaled it. In all that time, I never had to do any major maintenance on it. I think I was at the point where that would have started coming up, but after 12 years and 190,000 miles, what car isn't going to need some work? Anyways, this was a great car and it will be sorely missed.

I love my Civic!!!
I bought my 2002 Civic used with 137K miles! No problems at all, it's very reliable! Got the EX Coupe Red with the 5 speed and boy is it fun, slick shifter, nice handling! Seats are super comfy and trunk is big for a small coupe! it really is an amazing little car! I also have a 2006 Pontiac Torrent that is also a great vehicle, very roomy and versatile, but the Civic is more fun! I love it!

Best Car Ever -- I've Owned Two!
I bought my first LX with 130,000 miles on it because the price was right and I knew it would be reliable. Between lots of weekend road trips and 10-12 hours a week commuting, I put 15,000+ miles on my LX in the 7 months I owned it. Other than regular oil changes and two new tires it ran like a charm. Unfortunately it was totaled (snow/ice conditions). I went right out and found another 02 LX, only difference being the new color and lower miles (100,000). LOVE this car! I know it will get me from point A to B with no problem and if I keep up with maintenance I have no doubt it will reach 200,000 miles or more.

Live Large By Spendng Small
The gas mileage is even better than promised (36mpg-city/44mpg-highway). Adjustable heights for driver's seat and steering wheel are good safety features, as is the rear window visibility. Dashboard shows gear positions, so there is no need to glance down at the shift lever. The seats are comfortable, even for long drives.

One of the BEST cars!
I purchased a Civic after I totaled my first car and I have to admit, this is the BEST car I have! Despite some peeling paint, I've had no maintenance trouble for the past 3 years. I highly recommend it for everyone!
