Amazing first car

I got my Honda civic threw my parents. It is 2 door, silver and has everything I need. It has a sunroof and a iPod hook up, this is every teenagers dream. This car fits 4 people comfortable and 5 if needed. Overall I love my Honda. It's sporty and reliable and safe.

Minor Issues but overall very satisfied...

I bought my Civic LX Coupe new. What sold me was not only the look of the car but also the great gas mileage. I have averaged every tankful of gas since new and have yet to get under 34 mpg... sometimes 38-39... and once 40. Recently I have passed 50,000 miles ... have yet to do anything besides routine maintenance... better than any car I have ever owned... Their have been minor issues... some of the clips that hold the drivers seat back on have broke so it sticks out a bit. The visor on the drivers side sticks but it stays up and I rarely use it so... not a problem for me. The blind spots are large for a car so small... but I knew this going in... (that is what test drives are for... test drove this one 3 times before purchasing.) The manual shift could be more precise. Finally, the plastics scratch way to easily. Other than that I am totally satisfied and would recommend with confidence.

Solid, dependable, great mileage.

Overall this car is a great commuter, or family car. It is sluggish at times, and lacks the power to shoot into a gap when joining freeway traffic. On the other hand, the trade off is the incredible mileage. The worst I have done (and I drive 135 miles each day for work) is 40 mpg on that trip, and the best is 56. Weather, wind, temperature, and whether or not I can draft behind a tractor trailer all affect that. I like this car. It's not "fun" to drive, but it is nice and comfortable, and does what it's supposed to do. Nice features, 2 power jacks, input jack, changable displays. Feels like the dash of a spaceship sometimes.

Everything is excellent except...

...clock on the stereo of the EX Coupe is less acurate than the clock on my cheap coffee maker. I adjust the clock only when daylight saving begins and end and when I adjust the clock, the clock is about 12+ minutes faster. The clock on my 1993 Acura Integra was never more than a minute off. Digital clocks have been around before personal computers and they still haven't perfected the clock yet?

feels like plastic

Not for people over 6-feet tall!!!!!!!!!! Feels like a plastic car with a plastic engine, and VERY high retail price (well, it's good if you're buying a new one).

Not the best car on the road.

Despite making the top ten list of cars Tom and Ray hate, my 2006 Civic has been a disappointment, and the dealership just shrugs when something else happens. In it's well treated life it has had: the engine block replaced (there is NOW a recall on them), both sun visors replaced ("We know there is a problem with them."), major front end work (I got the extended warranty which helped), the wheels repainted and they are rusty again (and we don't have salt on the roads in SC), and the paint scratches when you look at it ("They don't put a good sealant on the paint, so it does scratch easily."). Oh, and new brakes at less than 20,000 miles and new tires too. Oh, the battery died early in the 2nd year too but it was still under warranty. I will probably not buy another Honda unless they come out with something truly impressive.

Civic Is the best

I have had my civic for over 4 years now. i have 120,000 miles on it and it has barely sniffed the inside of a mechanics garage. Only for oil changes and regularly scheduled maintenance. I still get 35mpg on daily use and have gotten 42 mpg on a nice trip to new york via the highway system. The car is sharp looking and very comfortable. i got compliments all the time on how smooth the car runs and how little road noise there is. I cant wait for 200,000 miles to come because i will buy another one of these then. Of course i am not going to trade this one in because it will still have a long life after 200,000 miles.

the most reliable car I ever had

After 60,000 miles I had to change the front brakes once and change the oil every 6 months. The car gives 40 MPG on the FWY at 65 MPH. The only drawback is the cabin noise on rough roads, other than that, this car is just great.

Warranty not worth the paper its printer on

Until recently, I was mostly satisfied with my Honda Civic Hybrid (although the fuel mileage isn't as good as they claimed). The car started rusting slightly three years after I bought it new, despite being kept in a garage every night. (I have owned it about 4.5 years as of now.) Just recently, I brought it into the dealership as both front wheel-wells and the trunk has started to severly rust (looks terrible!) With the 5 year Corrosion Warranty, I didn't expect a problem. However, I was told that a Honda manager would have to ok the fix and would have to bring it back in a week and a half. (Annoying to make a return trip, but not a big deal.) The first customer service guy said this is typical now, since Honda has become more strict and have changed their corrosion policy since I had purchased the vehicle. After a lousy bout of customer service after dropping the car off the second time (after several unreturned calls), I was informed that the "Corrosion Warranty" only covers rust that has completely rusted through, not surface rust. I was told that only the one wheel well would be covered and it would take a week and a half! The service guy said I really needed to have the other well and the trunk replaced, except that that work would not be covered by the warranty and I would be responsible. The only reason Honda would have changed their rust warranty is because they know its a problem. Until they quit being slimy with their warranty, I'd recommend avoiding their cars.

My First Import

The only reason I rated this car a 4 on comfort and price, is well....I'm very thrifty and I didn't expect to spend over 14k on a used car, and for the comfort, the headrests are a little inclined towards you, so being a female who wears a ponytail requires me to set the seat back to the headrest isn't pushing into my hair....but I drove the car on a cross country trip a week after I bought it and had no issues with cramping or discomfort or maintenance for that matter. It is, however, very quick. I got my first speeding ticket in ten years and I was going well over the posted limit....you just don't feel it and this beauty and it just wants to go go go! I should mention, I have the si version, not sure about regular civics, but my 6 speed begs to be driven! I would recommend this car to anyone without a lead foot!
