For the best Fit, opt for the Sport

I think if I had to do it over again, I'd opt for the Sport. Though I had to stick within a strict budget and the price of the upper models were a bit out of my league, I feel like I'm missing something that people who rave about this car are experiencing that I'm not. Now, don't get me wrong. My Fit is very handy, versatile, has great styling and a fairly well-featured interior for the price point. It is great on gas and, so far, has been easy and inexpensive to service. It swallows my dog, my groceries, and the stuff I get at the home improvement warehouse without a hiccup. What's more, it wasn't treated as a "loss leader", either...Honda dealers know that these cars are popular and there is a huge community of aficionados with great affection for this little car. After 5 months with it, I would have to say that it is definitely a capable automobile. But fun? I don't know if the Base model is fun so much as it rather chooses to be good at grocery-getting and all-round reliability... I just think the Sport may be what most people are looking for when they hear extreme superlatives about the Fit. If you are thinking about buying one, drive BOTH models and then make your decision. I think if I'd done that, I'd have ended up with a more-grins version - a manual transmission Sport rather than an automatic Base. But again, I've got to stress...this is a versatile, reliable, well-built car whose interior room and consummate great overall value and general send of being well-screwed together make it a must-consider in this segment regardless.

Great Commuter Car with Pep!

I love this car - it's perfect for what we needed. We already have an Odyssey for when the whole family goes out, but we needed a commuter car for us adults to use when we swap off going to work (one stays home with the kids and we take turns). It's a great little car with lots of pep... it's fun to drive, handles turns great (Fit Sport model), LOVE the USB connector so I can hook up the iPod - and the cup holder by the driver's door is a great change from the tiny ones under the dash (which this car also has - and I don't care for). The interior lights at night are nice, they glow blue. The sound system is decent with 6 speakers. Love the hatchback feature and the ability to fold the seats into all different configurations. Very comfortable to sit in - my back never bothers me in these seats (and I have chronic back problems). I notice a slight blind spot when turning around (backing up or looking to check for cars) - mainly by the headrest of the passenger and drivers' seats. I haven't tried doing much adjusting to see if I can fix that problem yet. The overall styling of the car is really sleek and sharp - I am very happy with my purchase! We were really thinking a civic would have been perfect for our needs (and I've owned one before and loved it), but I'm really happy with the choice of trying something new - the Fit will be around a long time in our family!

Most fun you can have for 35 mpg and $16K!

I traded my Honda Pilot for this fun little car, and have no regrets. My Fit Sport drives like a go-kart (serious fun!), and gets about 35 mpg for me in a combo of highway and city driving. I love the paddle shifter option with my auto transmission too. I had a sunroof put in, which adds to the fun but remember to add a deflector to the sunroof. It has great carrying capacity with the seats down, and is pretty comfortable overall. I feel 20 years younger! Cons: This car could use more available luxury options, such as leather seats and seat heaters, more power outlets, and a better nav system, and steering wheel controls for the stereo, but I guess that will show up eventually. Beware, it is hard to drive this car slowly:vroom vroom!

Outstanding, versatile, stylish

I did a lot of research and compared many makes/models. I bought a 2010 Fit Sport automatic. It hit the sweetspot as far as price, cargo room (actually more than a midsize SUV), reliability, driveability and features. The only things I don't like about my Fit are the relatively slow acceleration in low gear (it's a compact, whaddya) and the road noise (85dB at cruising speed, ouch!). The acceleration is actually about the same as many sports cars past and present, and once you get the hang of the throttle you can get going smoothly and swiftly. That's more of a learning curve issue than a drawback of the car itself. For 90% of your driving, the Fit will do everything you want it to. That said, at the bottom of a steep hill I almost need to get out and push, especially with passengers or a heavy load. Again not a showstopper, just something you have to learn to manage in your new Fit. The road noise will be the one thing that through the years I really won't like about this car, but that's a tradeoff I was more than happy to make given its massive usefulness and flexibility. The Fit's exterior looks like an alien starfighter, with a nice edgy hi-tech appearance. Interior is much nicer than I was expecting from a compact. My only wish would be for a choice of fabric color, all-black is a little stark. But that's a very minor downtick. What you'll get from your new Fit is a well-constructed, ultra-versatile stuff-hauler that gets great mileage (so far I'm getting 31-32 in combined city and highway, and with a little more experience finessing the throttle I'm sure I can get that up an extra couple of mpg), looks great, handles well enough, and takes very, very good care of you in case of trouble. Highly recommended!

Best small SUV type by far!

The fit is small enough for City parking, has ample features, seats 5 comfortably, has great fuel economy and low emissions, huge cargo space through the large hatchback, and is a great value!

I love my 2010 Fit

I love my Honda Fit. It averages 33 mpg on the highway. I love the hatchback for easy loading. It has a sporty feel - and the pad shifters give you complete control. It handled extremely well through awful snowy mountain blizzards in Arizona & Colorado. My only complaint is that it's a noisy car - you hear the road, bumps, ect and the engine always sounds strained while accelerating - but hey, what do you expect for 117 horsepower? I bought this car for reliability and it's been great - with the exception of the recall.
