Bang For Buck in Mid Size Older Sedans!

Owning this car twice over for 11 years, It is my preferred drive of the family vehicles. There is also a Subaru Legacy Premium circa 2011. I will not compare an 11 year old car to anything produced in the last 5 years. In its class for what it represented, (entry lux I believe), at the time this car was about as good a choice as you might make...in MHO. That fact that the interior just differed from Honda, Ford and Toyota vehicles was dare I say noticeable. Nothing over the top, clean rounded lines in the dash, with one of the most ergonomically fitconsoles you had seen. Everything seems to be where you need it to be without operational stress. I own the Limited Edition and the factory stereo was more than a surprise. In a few words, it sounded way better than I was expecting. AC system was frosty, heating system warm. The heated seats worked well. While the leather is low grade, it is leather. In most places. The seats are not very supportive on the sides or front. You start to notice after about 300 miles of a long trip. Just average for comfort. They are big though. Just like the cavernous trunk. I packed everything but furniture and dishes when I moved from Florida to Pennsylvania. It all fit inside the car and trunk. Nope, no room for passengers, LOL. I like the vehicle enough to drive it daily. My first vehicle I owned for 8 years. It was in an accident and had roughly 75,000 miles. The only things that wore or broke down were the driver side armrest, the driver seat left side and upper back, from getting in and out. and the rear sunshade quit. Small wonder as I would amaze the cars behind me by raising the shade everytime the car stopped at a light or for traffic. As soon as the car started moving, bam down it went. Like it was automatic, I used to smile when they would to point at it. As for the exterior. We all know our vehicles are a personal choice. Call me anti-angular. This car has one of the last rounded rears seen on cars period. The back view is the BEST! The rest of the car seems sort of french vanilla, as for styling. I chose the Aubergine colored exterior, beige interior and tinted the windows. The car rode on factory Michelein's in 17 inch size. The car when new was something different. You were able to do things wth a flick of the wheel and some throttle. BTW... 273 HP here, in an '06. The steering was very powered yet you kept control. The tires were a good OEM choice as they did well in all aspects. Even Pennsylvania snow. Very nice riding tire. Quiet too. You always seem tempted to hustle in this car despite its size. Everyone please remeber we are talking 2006, 11 years ago. I got a second Azera, same model after the crash. An older woman had hardly driven it. It had 26,000 miles on it in 2013. I drive this car today. It has 96,000 miles on it. Knock on Azera fake wood, the car never left me stranded. Neither car required any major item replacement. I did have to replace two plugs on the used one. All minor or service work only. This does not include the one occasion where I went to a local store, and the car would not start without a jump. Had the problem again and it was found to be a Hyuandai recall on the ground plug. Nothing else. Rock solid car! V-6 takes regular gas. Wishlist - Better leather. Not so overly powered steering. More solid rear shade system. More Supportive, Comfortable Seats.

Ten years old and still like new.

My SE is now almost ten years old, though with only 56m miles, purchased used three years ago. If you read reviews ca. 2006 / 2007 you will see a number of issues, not major, with the model that was new in 2006. All were taken care of by the previous owner under warranty, and there has been nothing for me to fix since I purchased at 39m miles. Bought this because I previously owned a 2002 Sonata that was comfortable, very competent and absolutely trouble free over my 50m miles of ownership. Sold it to a friend, and the car had its first real needed repair at 92m (alternator). The Azera is just very nice, fast when needed, still in like new condition inside and out. Only problems are noted elsewhere: mileage could be better and the front suspension is sometimes clunky. Love the car.

Among the best I've owned

Purchased used- high mileage 134K. No mechanical problems- mileage town ~22; Highway as high as 29, usually 27. Very good handling, brakes, steering excellent, interior temperature control very accurate and comfortable, quiet with many fine touches - window controls, hood and boot lids balanced and doors all close easily. Fit and finish excellent. Seats very comfortable. Some faux wood surfaces- steering wheel - pocked and deteriorated -looks shoddy. A civil action against Hyundai re: airbags is settled. The company's customer "service" are the most difficult xxxxxx that I have ever encountered. It is an very good car even if it was built by lawyers.

Nicest car I've owned

Like the title states this is the nicest car I've ever owned. Even more so than my old Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited, which I absolutely loved. Great features, rides very smooth, looks very luxurious. So far very very happy with this purchase.

Awesome Car

The 2006 Azera has been a pleasure to own. I am 7 feet tall and it is one of the few cars that I actually fit in. I have had nothing but good experiences with this car. The few issues that I've had so far have all been covered under warranty by the dealer for free. Everything about the car is superlative: front and rear lights, rims, the leather interior, the dashboard lighting and controls, the A/C system is great, the premium sound system rocks, the acceleration and the braking. I just wish the suspension was a little bit firmer. The engine on this car pulls like a tug boat and the car is incredibly smooth and stable at high speeds. I currently have about 64,000 miles on it, and I plan to run this car into the ground. I am very happy with this purchase and just wanted to say "Well done Hyundai!"

A very nice car, but minor parts are unreliable!!

I bought a 2006 Hyundai Azera, Limited in Jan. 2012. Before purchasing this vehicle, I checked many dealers from NC to northern VA to find one that I would like to have. From these visits and various test driving experiences, I found some common issues with the 2006 Azera: malfunction CD player and rear sun shade curtain. Also, mine has a problem with the right-side rear handle knob. When my 8-year old daughter pulled it out to open the door, it broke into three pieces. I later found from the Internet that it is another common problem reported by other owners of Azera. Also, the clear coating of mine begins to fade off some areas. Other than these relatively minor issues (?), I am pleased with its internal and external designs, interior comfort, and its smooth ride. In terms of gas mileage, it has about 18 miles in a city, which is very flat and 25 on a highway. Regarding the price, I think this Azera is a much better choice than a smaller, yet newer, vehicle, such as Corrola, Civic, or Elantra. Thanks

2006 Hyundai Azera Limited...

with a 260 hp engine, this car leaves my c240 in the dust, and it feels like you're floating down the road because it is so smooth! it is incredibly roomy in both the front and back seats, as well as in the trunk. For barely over 10k used, you get features like a premium sound system, power, leather and heated seats, a power rear sunshade, and many more convenience features found around the car (i.e. removable ash trays on both back doors and in front center console, sunglasses holder, etc.) We did have a little computer problem shortly after the car was purchased, however the problem was fixed after 2 visits to the dealer. The gas pedal didn't seem to be giving the car any gas, while the check engine light was on, and the fastest i could go was about 20 mph with the "pedal to the medal" but no worries! its fixed! I feel hyundai could have made both the interior and exterior of the car more attractive, though.. this car definitely isn't a head turner, which is why i gave it less than 5 stars in those areas. Also, although the car rides incredibly smooth, powerfully and comfortably, something about this car just doesn't have the same quality as my two german cars! although i still choose the hyundai over the other two! For the price, you simply will not find a better car :)
