Reliability Slipping

2nd time with fuel injection problems. First time at 21,000mi and then at 51,000 miles. Replaced all 6 injectors. Only warning is engine light goes on then car won't accerate. Learning to have little confidence with major repairs although dealer cooperative while trying to sell me a new Genessis !! No more Hyundai's here...

I love this car...

I've got 26K on my 2006 Azera Limited, and it's likely to become the first car I've kept long enough for the warranty to expire. Considering the 10yr/100K deal, this is new ground for me. The good: The space. I'm 6'2" and 250 lbs and I fit without a problem. I've also got a couple of teenagers who don't have a problem fitting in the back without requiring anyone up front to move their seats forward. The exterior styling. Even after a year and a half, every time I leave a carwash I get people asking me "What kind of car is that?" or "Is that the new Lexus?" I love it. The comfort: The seats are fantastic, the climate control system is top notch, and the heated seats are excellent. The value: All this for less than a semi-loaded Camry. My negatives: The center console: It looks piece-meal. Everthing that is lit is lit in different colors. The gauges are red/white/blue. The clock is green on black. The radio is grey on green. The climate control system is grey on orange. What's up with that? The radio controls on the steering wheel: You can not change the radio station up or down or change the track on the CD player. Instead the buttons switch you between FM1/FM2/AM/CD. Poor design. The panic button on the remote: Yea, it's nitpicky, but I've set it off at least a dozen times on accident trying to put my keys into my jeans pocket. It's annoying enough to make this list. The gas mileage: I'm not getting what they said I should. I took a 200 mile trip with the cruise control set at around 67mph and only averaged about 26.4mpg. Anyway, enough rambling. The negatives are all minor inconveniences. I love the car, and plan to drive it for years to come. Outside of oil changes and tire rotations, the car hasn't been to the shop. I'm hoping it stays that way. So far, so good...

Nice nice car for the money

Bought my '06 used about 4 mos ago and overall I love it. Plusses = Styling, acceleration, comfort, legroom and headroom front and rear, climate control system, trunk space, mileage is 21mpg combined on regular gas, trim, electric rear screen, highway cruising, decent handling, Sirius Starmate unit fits nicely in dashboard cubby, good braking, leather and wood (faux?) interior, great bun warmers and an nice dignified feel overall. Minuses - for me the most glaring is the front end engineering that results in noise and bumpiness over rough pavement, almost like the springs are too soft and the shocks too abrupt. The rest are minor annoyances; rear screen button can be pushed by accident too easily, cup holders grab at bottom of some containers, that accelerator pedal delay that others have mentioned, inability to program auto climate control to output to dash vents. Overall, a very civilized vehicle!

Awesome car for the $

Got mine in June 06'. Now has 13K miles. Have had no problems. I have the Limited model with the "Ultimate Pkg." Test drove many other cars costing far more than this one and I came back and bought mine. Paid $25,200 ! The only things I think should be changed are the steering wheel mounted audio controls. You should be able to change channels not just the mode. Also it should really have Bluetooth capability so hands free calling would be possible. The features you get for this price are phenomenal. There are nice little touches all over. Perhaps in the newer models they will make the passenger front seat 8 way power like the drivers seat, that would be nice. For the other reviewers who complained of the mileage, you have to expect that at 265 horsepower, you need to go a little easy on the gas pedal. This is a powerful car. Feels like 350 horses. Because Car and Driver magazine said it could do it, I had to try. Had it up over 140 mph. ! Smooth as silk. Also, to the guy who said it should have power mirrors, well it does, he needs to look at his manual. To the guy who said the power rear sunshade is a dubious feature, well, its nice to put it up when you have to park the car where the sun is shining in the back window. Keeps it a lot cooler, and if the sun is low and at your back while driving you will enjoy having it, as will your rear seat passengers! To the guy who said it should have auto locking doors. It does, but perhaps his dealer did not activate this feature for him. They plug a small computer like device into the dash and they can activate or deactivate many different things to your liking, such as the alarm sounds for seat belts, key in, etc. A full size spare ! With matching alloy wheel, allowing you to do a five tire rotation, who else offers that as standard ? The 10 speakers in eight different locations and a powered subwoofer in the rear deck, and an equalizer too ! Great ! This stereo kicks !

Best value in its category

We own a 2006 Limited model. Our only complaint is that suspension tuning is about 15% too soft. The car tends to float and bounce over large road crests and bumps. Otherwise it is a great value and very reliable. Hyundai needs to a better job in marketing the Azera. Print ads are few and far between.

Hyundai Azera - a fabulous car

I never thought I would purchase a Hyundai product. My previous car was a Nissan Maxima. When I compared Nissan, Mitsubishi, Saturn Aura and domestics- I was sold Great car; many compliments on its looks and performance I'd buy another one!

most car for the money I've owned

Only things I would add is navigation and chrome wheels as factory installed option. MPG could be better.

Acceleration delay is only drawback

Azera has half second hesitation after the driver attempts acceleration. The mechanism, copied from german automakers is intentionally built that way and cannot be adjusted by the dealer.

If you want quite this is it

Never owned a better vehicle and I usually change automobiles every 2-3 years. I looked at between 8 - 10 manufactures with cars in the 30k - 40k price range and kept coming back to the Azera for price, performance and comfort. The car has been a real pleasure to own and drive. I can't wait to own my next one. If Hyundai ever offers blue tooth and navigation with this vehicle, there will never be a need to look at anything esle. The best compliment of all is that when someone gets in the car they ask who makes this vehicle and after they ride in it the comment is " This is a Hyundai! "

Elated with my purchase

my previous cars were Lincoln , Cadilac, and Chrysler, All of these cars were fully equiped and very expensive. I drove these cars until the extended warante ran out (100,000+mi) . When I shopped and drove these and other cars I found that the Huyndai Azera offered so much more for the dollar that I purchased one. At least equal in features, ride, and comfort and definately superior in price and warente, I feel that the Huyndai has saved me at least $5000 (probably more) over comparables. In order to get the things that I was seeking in a car I would have had to buy an Infinity G, Lexus 350or a BMW 3 series. I am elated with my Azera purchase, the best dollar for dollar car that I have ever bought.
