I bought my 2014 Cherokee Trailhawk V6 certified used and has already had the transmission replaced 3 times. While this has been covered under warranty and my dealer has been great, its not something that you should expect with a $30K car less than 3 years old and under 36,000 miles. Actually, I just had my last transmission replaced in Feb 2017 and its now in the shop for... a transmission issue, which they said, will most likely need to be replaced. Google Jeep Cherokee Transmissions issues and you will see that this is a very common problem. I will say that before the last transmission failed, it was light years better than the first and second one. So performance wise, it got better, but the poor reliability has stayed the same. Will be trading it in shortly and unfortunately someone else will be getting this mess...

This car has had at least 6-10 recalls. Burns oil and was told that's normal and to check the oil monthly (it's under 3yrs old). Transmission now has an issue. A tire company can't get it to be aligned correctly.

it does shrug off snow and mud and handles very well with a comfortable highway ride. the interior is pleasing with good comfort and an excellant tech interface. the nine-speed Z F transmission is a failure. very slow shifts can make passing at speed harrowing, if not dangerous. the tranny shouldn't show itself at all but, this one is really ugly. nice car, let down by this nine-speed.

My daughter was stranded on the highway and a new transmission had to be put in. The car was taken to the closest dealer as opposed to the closest dealer to my house (roadside assistance dictates 18 miles from incident) which made this very inconvenient - this would have been a nightmare if the issue occurred in a different state. I have two months left on my lease and the engine light just turned on - I will definitely not buy or lease a Jeep again.
