Transmission issues like everyone else
After 6 months and 7,000 miles started getting malfunction lights. This oddly started an hour after my first oil change at the dealer. Took it back and they re-flashed the control modules. Still had issues. They replaced the trans control module. Still had issues. Now they are replacing the transmission. Definitely the transmission is unpredictable as others have said. Shifts roughly, but sometime wont downshift leaving you with no torque or power when pulling out into traffic. The transmission issues are unfortunate as this is a stylish and capable lit SUV when it works. Mine is a limited and loaded with handy features. Unfortunately it is loosing a lot of value due to needing a new transmission.

I regret buying this car
Don't get me wrong, it is a nice lovely car, BUT with huge transmission issues, I had recalls had to take back having shifting problems and finally transmission died with only 6,000 miles on it and less than a year old. Please be advised stay away from the 9 speed transmission, all they need is put back 6 speed transmission and I will be happy with this car, unless you are welling to deal with taking your car to the dealer on a bi weekly bases then go ahead and buy it.

BEYOND UPSET
I love the way the car looks, the size of it, and all the inside features. BUT THE TRANSMISSION IS GOD AWFUL. I've had a brand new transmission installed after 25,000 and it still bucks when pulling onto the road on a slight incline. CHRYSLER NEEDS TO FIX WHAT THEY HAVE DONE HERE. I've paid a year on a car that is a piece of garbage.

Worst Car I've EVER Owned!!!
On the First year my Drive shaft had to be replaced. I bought a Jeep with a nine (9) gear transmission, this should've been a red flag. I found out 9th gear don't work in most Cherokees. WHAT!?! Then the Transmission Module Component (TMC) was replaces twice, and still I have the same problems with all the other reviews on this sight. Lagging 1st gear, improper down shifting, and all the lights on my shifter flash on & off frequently. If I want to keep this car, I'll need a liftime garentee on the transmission alone. DON'T BUY IT PEOPLE!!!

1 week review
I jumped into this vehicle from a 2007 Cadillac CTS. Took getting used to the suspension, however, small price to pay to go threw potholes instead of avoiding them. Comfort is excellent, comparable to a luxury car. Sound is great and feature ample for the price. Compared to a GMC terrain, the acceleration is incredible. Everyone who has been in the vehicle to date believe it's a six, but it's only a four. Sound insulation is also similar to my Cadillac CTS. You can't hear much around you until you open a window. Very important when you work in your vehicle like I do. I will post updates as I go forward, but as it stands, you will love it.

Terrible transmission
I read some of the other reviews before adding mine. I am having the same problem that others are having where transmission shifting is clunky and also it is like there is a lag when you put the pedal down and then wheels actually engage. It is very dangerous at intersections where you really have to pull out quick and go. Sometimes the car goes and sometimes it just sits there and then wheels suddenly decide to engage on the car's terms, not mine. I did not have any trouble shifting until the transmission module was replaced by Chrysler. I am selling my 2014 Trailhawk and going back to what I owned before... a 2010 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo. I'd rather have a safe, dependable used jeep than an unsafe new one.

Nice Suv
I have had for one year. Each update for transmission has improved the shifting. It's great now. Very smooth ride, great gas mileage.

Going on 1 year
Coming out of BK, I was kind of "pushed" into this car. Of course I test drove it before buying and of all the other cars at that dealership that day that I drove, I liked this one. I was offered the option to pay an extra $250 to be able to bring the car back if I didnt want to keep it but I declined because, I already didnt want to pay more than a $500 down payment. This is what I get for being cheap...I shouldve paid the extra cash for that option! Almost immediately I noticed something just didnt feel right, but I could not honestly say that because I bought the car new so I wasnt absolutely sure if my thinking was accurate. Well, my thoughts were right! First off, I have never heard a car sound as much like a flutterring butterfly or buzzing bee as mine does. Literally. To the point that its embarrassing. But nevermind that lets talk about the transmission shifting. HORRIBLE! Like I said, in the beginning I thought, this is just the way its supposed to be. Its a brand new car and this is the makeup of it. WRONG. To my dismay, less than a year later I would egt a call from JEEP to schedule a service appointment to "update" the transmission software. My experience to this point has not been a total nightmare however, I did have purchase regrets almost immediately after leaving the lot. The interior is cheaply made but ironically enough the cabin to me is comfortable. There is a piece of the rubber trim on the car that keeps coming off, the one under the passenger rear wheel well and another on top of the back lift door has lifted. You can see that one when looking at the roof of the car because I cant push it back down into where its supposed to be. But lets talk about the real issue...the transmission. Well, to be quite blunt, it does suck. It jerks, it shifts hard, and I mean HARD. Also, when driving at a constant rate of speed through the city and having to come to a stop light, the transmission would do this funny thing. Its hard to explain but its almost like it has to play catch up with the wheels or the car for that matter. I have since gotten used to it BUT...I took my car in to the dealership on this Saturday to have the transmission software updated and got it back yesterday and now that part of the issue is gone HOWEVER...I have gained oh I dont know, maybe three more issues in place of it. Now it feels as though first gear is going out...AND, I have a different kind of hard shift when coming to a stop after traveling at a constant rate of speed. I am going to try to give it about a week before I call my service advisor to inform him of the new issues but if I just cant stand it, it'll be just a couple of days instead. My advice? Just dont buy one.

Overall car looks good But performance very very poor !!!! The transmission , all 9 speeds sucks . I had previous Jeep Patriot and I thought the CVT transmission was ' iffy' , this jeep sport tranny is 10 times worse jeep sport has hard shift , esp gears 1-5 Had the transmission ' flash ' upgrade .. Now the check engine light came on & stayed on , along with the electronic stability light flashing Car is back at dealer

2014 Jeep Cherokee Sport 2WD
I have owned this Jeep for a year. I love the exterior and interior styling, and am very happy with the interior space. I find the shifting to be more like a manual transmission, with a hard shift into third gear. The flash update made it somewhat smoother. There is a steering wheel sound that I had repaired under warranty. It was gone for three weeks, but has now re-occurred. Scheduled dealer visit, but noise is apparently only heard in cold weather, so, of course, it was a warm day, and no noise! The gas mileage is fantastic, as I purchased the 4-cyl.; twenty-five mpg, - city, and 32/33 expressway! I'm hoping we can resolve the steering wheel noise, otherwise I enjoy the car.
