Best first car

While it was in bad shape when I purchased it after a little fixing up and a new paint job it has become the best daily driver and hasn?t given any trouble

Fun to drive and reliable

Great vehicle for someone who needs and SUV but doesn?t want to give up the ?cool? factor and wants off-road capabilities. Very reliable, hardly any issues in the four years I drove it.

Most reliable car I have ever owned

My jeep does everything I need it to do and more , mixture of power and fuel economy is great! I would definitely recommend a Grand Cherokee to a friend.

Love the boxy look

While it's not for everyone I loved the rectangular look of the car. A good seating space with a large trunk area make it great for road trips and it lasts a long time. It's not the most fuel efficient but it's not that bad either.

Saved My Life

When I bought my Grand Cherokee, I was continuing a tradition. Both my Dad and Uncle had them at one point or another, and my Dad still had his. So, it was my turn. It was fairly reliable. A few things I had to fix here or there, but nothing crazy. 4.0L straight six and the trans were great. Four wheel drive saved me a time or two in the snow and off-road. Sound system and leather seats were excellent. Then...tragedy struck. A '96 Mercury Villager pulls out in front of me...I was going 62 mph. No time to react. Shortened the frame of my Jeep eight inches, cracked the block and transmission case, even the rear suspension buckled back almost an inch...but I walked out with a sore shoulder from the seatbelt and the imprint on my kneecap of the manufacturer emblem of something I had wedged in between the seat and center console (flew out and bounced off the dash). It was not a pretty ride, it wasn't even fast, but it did save my life, and never broke down on me until it turned a minivan into a half-crushed soda can.

I love my jeep

Grand Cherokee, Last Jeep Wagon With Solid Axles And The Legendary 4.0 I6 ? Performance is great, the Legendary 4.0 is just an amazing engine. very reliable, and torquey, plenty of power, and reasonable gas mileage. The interior is extremely high quality for a Chrysler product. I've never had much trouble with Jeep interiors, but this one takes the 1st prize. The ride quality is also very smooth. For a solid axle Jeep 4x4, it rides very nice. It actually rides a lot smoother than my buddy's 4x4 Liberty with IFS. I think it's one of the best looking Grand Cherokees, the only thing I don't like visually is how low the gas tank hangs, to accommodate the spare being under the rear floorboard. Like I said, reasonable mileage, I can get 22 or so on the highway, and up to 18 on the streets, though I usually don't. It's a blast off road, the full time 4wd option makes it great in foul weather, it's an awesome Jeep I definitely recommend it over any other mid-size SUV in it's class.

nothing can stop a WJ.

This vehicle is the best vehicle I've ever driven in my life. It's been the most reliable vehicle to me and other i know who own it. I got it as my first car and I'm still driving it 3 years later. Mine is currently 18 years old with 256,000 miles on the 4.0 I6 and i recently drove it to colorado from wisconsin and back without any trouble. The car never uses any oil or any other fluid at that. Only downside is the gas mileage isn't the best. This car can virtually go through anything, I've taken it to truck jams where lifter trucks have gotten stuck in the mud when my jeep made it through no problem. The one time i slid into a ditch was when I hit black ice, the jeep had snow up to the doors so i couldn't get my driver door open. I threw her in 4wd and reversed right out no problem. There is no stopping this vehicle. If you're a parent wondering what vehicle to get you teen driver, i'd get the 99-04 grand cherokee because of it's reliability, toughness, and power to do anything you tell it to.

297,000 Miles

We put a lot of miles on our vehicles, commuting to work in the Twin Cities. Our Jeep Grand Cherokee was certainly reliable and stood the test of time in Minnesota through blazing hot, humid summers and frigid winters. The vehicle was very reliable and required only minor maintenance , with the exception of CV joints. Only issue was the air bag sensor, which had an intermittent alarm signal that we chose not to repair. The body had started to show rust due the he heavy salt used in our area, but nothing excessive. Excellent vehicle for longevity and reliability.
