2000 JGC 4X4

This is an okay car. Although I liked the look of the older jeeps better, my mom had given me this car so I can't complain much about the outward appearance. The car is 9 years old this year and has about 111,000 miles on it. It has been giving us a lot of problems in the past couple years, and the A/C has never worked right. This car was bought when my family lived in Alaska and needed a good winter car. All in all it gets you from point A to B. Fuel economy on my car is 17.5, which is decent for a V8 engine, but still not great. It is a very comfortable ride as well. It was rebuilt last year when it was considered a hazard to be on the road due to some missing parts in the transmission. As far as the car handles, I rarely drive over 70mph, but it does get harder to handle at higher speeds. It is also a bulky car and has a very touchy steering wheel.

Bullet Proof

I bought my 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee in 2006. I replaced my 2001 Blazer which was costing my over 3 grand in just 2 years at 29,000 miles in maintenance. I pull a 20.5' boat about 8 times in the summer 140 miles one way to the Ozarks. It was underpowered with the 4.0 liter going up hill, but has never complained. It has just over 150,000 miles on it now, I bought it with 60. In that time not including tires, brakes and general maintenance items. All I have done is replace the battery, alternator and water pump. I have owned 14 cars over my 30 years and by far this has been the best most reliable vehicle I have ever owned. Buy one you will see.

Nickel n dime

First off I LOVE jeep. I had 2 older jeeps with the Straight 6 cyl. I bought the I6 in 2004 with 30,000 on it. My wife just ran a stop sign and totaled it with 130,000 miles on it. The powertrain has been perfect. Never had an issue. But just about everything else went wrong. Radiator fan twice, door handle assembly, water pump twice, O2 sensor twice, blinker switch assembly, rear wiper, suspension at 50,000, two power window motors. Again, nothing wrong with engine/transmission. Just a bunch of little things that got annoying year after year. Its enough for me to not buy another Jeep for a while.

Feels like you are riding in a safe

Bought this JGC about a year ago from the original owner with 74000 on it. I don't drive it many miles per year since I have other vehicles but when the weather gets nasty, out comes the Jeep. It drives rock solid and as I said, it feels like you are riding in a safe. Very solid build. Tires make the difference in snow I think and with new Michelins, it is unstoppable. We just had a 26 inch snowfall and it made it's own roads long before the xxxxxxdid. As far as breaking things, nothing has gone on it yet. It goes back and forth to CT. in the summer like a trooper and gets about 20 mpg doing it at 75mph. And this is the V8 version, albeit with the Select Trac set in 2WD. All in all, you can do worse I guess. No vehicle is perfect. If you want a no maintenance vehicle, there isn't one. If you want something that is comfortable, has a pile of power and makes you feel secure, buy this Jeep. Yes, you will have some problems probably, but nothing major and the returns are well worth it in my opinion.

Most reliable vehicle for New England winters!

The mpg is not great, but it's a comfortable drive, reliable on unplowed uphill roads in winter, and roomy-enough to transport 5 people and their suitcases on a day-long drive to a conference. My wife and I enjoyed the view with the high front seats.

Made me a Jeep Lover

Mine is leather and loaded. The most comfortable SUV I ever owned. If you live in snow country you really can't do better. SUV's are generally sluggish beasts; not the Jeep. My 6 has plenty of power to pull my 20 ft. boat almost like its not there. I'm waiting for the new GC styling to grow on me (4 yrs. isn't long enough) before getting another. The new style is smaller inside and feels too Chrysler. I'm holding this one as it has cost me very little in repair and still runs like new at 8 yrs. old.

JEEP

My wife bought this 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo 4X4 I6, never have regretted it. it's made for off road, but drives great on the highway. we are making 20-23 MPG overall in our JEEP. If you know a little about cars, when you buy used you need to know you are buying someone else's problem. I'm not complaining because I'm the tech in this case, I've replaced the radiator-due to pavement incident, wheel bearing and left front axle assembly, trans flushes, engine oil flushes, all the preventative maintenance you should perform on ANY used vehicle you buy!

Happy with my 2000 Laredo I6 4.0L 4X4

I bought my Jeep used with 89,000 miles on it.now 3 years later it has 150,000 on it and still runs strong.for 3 years I had to replace radiator fan,2 times radiator fan relay, alternator, dashboard speakers, hood support struts.total money spend for those repairs $900,not bad for 3 years 60,000 miles driving.no other problems.great 4X4 for winter driving, never stuck in snow.little bit bumpy ride, but it is offroad truck though.average 17-18 mpg combined city/highway.very reliable suv.IT'S A JEEP and I am happy with it.

Not Bad

This car handles great and has a pretty powerful I-6 engine. As far as reliability goes, it depends on you. I had to change the fuel pump because I let it run out of gas and trash got into the fuel system. The ride quality is superb for the 2WD. One thing I am disappointed by is the fuel economy- in mixed driving you will average about 18 mpg. This SUV is excellent I recommend it for anyone looking for a good vehicle.
