2006 Grand Cherokee Laredo w/ lift kit
I love this jeep I bought it from the dealership with less than 13k miles on it. It came with a 6" lift kit and 35" tires on mag wheels. The only thing that has gone wrong with it in the three years and 36k miles I have out on it is the secondary alarm (not stock) needed removing. An oil change every 6 months and it is good as gold. Only two downsides: due to the lift kit the Anti-rollover system and stability tends to panic when taking a corner and pumps the ABS, at least I know it works. Second is, you can almost never pass a gas station when going out on the road, with 11 MPG in the city and 17 on the highway it only gets about 450 miles to the tank, which holds 20 Gallons so it ain't cheap to fill either. I love this thing, just wish it had a navigation system, but one of those cheap Tom Tom units works fine.

LOVE MY JEEP!!
I have owned my 2006 Jeep for almost 3 years and I absolutely LOVE it! I have had no real trouble with it. Just routine repairs. The only issue I have is the seats were stained when I bought it (it was a rental), someone spilled coffee all over them. Cleaning them is very tough and if you drip water on the seat it leaves a ring. I'd go for leather seats with my next Jeep. Yes, I will be getting another when mine is paid off. I can't think of driving anything else.

Fits the Need
No Mechanical problems. 3.7 liter underpowered but OK. 19-21 gpm. Looking for comfort creature patsy car then dont buy. Nice handling (what I would expect from a Jeep) does well in mountain snow and back roads. Wouldn't recomend for off-road. No dip stick for checking transmision fluid (why)? Closed dealers except one with bad service. Poor local dealer service=last NEW jeep.

Don't buy
the 3.7 is not only powerless, it also gets absolutely terrible fuel mileage. It's constantly hunting for gears when hill climbing. It surges when trying to hold a steady speed (dealer can't find anything wrong of course), the traction control shut off due to a failed brake pedal sensor (of course not covered by warranty). It's started to rust where the rear hatch glass rubs on the paint. The seats are absolutely horrible for sitting in for long periods. The steering is twitchy. The stereo is useless. There's no room for a car seat in the back unless you put it in the middle seat. The tires are horribly expensive to replace (special order due to size). If I could go back and not purchase this vehicle, I wouldn't have.

Love my jeep
I have th 3.7 and at first I hated it. I upgraded from a 97 Grand Cherokee with the 4.0 and I felt the power was lacking. However, I have since started to like it. The trick with the 3.7 is to drive it hard. If you baby it, it does lack in power but if you drive it a little harder you start to see it does have good power. I read on the Jeep forums that the engine likes to be driven hard. The interior is comfortable and functional. I bought mine used with 46,000 miles on it and there are few little problems with the interior, mainly a squeeky back seat when its in the up position. I put larger tires on it then stock and it made a big difference. It looks much better and performs better.

listen to the expert
I have owned pretty much every type of car and if that is not a luxury you can afford i cant imagine owning anything but a jeep. I would purchase a v8 to provide enough power if towing is a consideration, and perhaps even go with the 4x4. Jeeps make great looking cars that really perform well.

06 Grand Cher.
I owned this vehicle. I have owned three Jeeps. The worst vehicle I ever owned. Transmission problems. That's why I don't own it anymore. Don't buy this one. You have been warned.

The WORST Jeep I have ever owned!!
Jeeps are not what they used to be. I always drove Jeeps. Wouldn't even think of owning another vehicle. Purchased a new 2006 Jeep Cherokee, and I absolutely hated it from day one. Back seats are like sitting on plywood, gas mileage (don't even ask), winter driving was the worst. No traction what so ever, even with new tires. Finally traded for a Chevy. Jeeps are definitly NOT what they used to be. If you want a Jeep, buy an older one. Do yourself a favor, DON'T buy the newer Jeeps!!

Nightmare on Elm Street Starring Jeep
2007 Grand Cherokee Lease: Wiring in wondows don't work despite the 4x its been brought in for repair. Gas guzzler - advertised 19 city but you actuallly get only 13 mpg - big difference when leasing. Snow/Ice - Slides all over the road - absolutely horrible - my rear wheel drive 97 Tbird handled better. Should have never traded in my chevy blazer. Please learn from my mistake. Stay clear of Jeep!
