JGC Laredo Limited

Bought this as my first Jeep in September 2010; have had some glitches such as the 2nd smart key not working, Dealership ended up replacing the whole unit that manages the push-button start; also the hands free phone doesn't work often, and even with a technician coming out to our home they could not get the programmable remote to work, even though the garage door opener is brand new. All that said, I am grateful that I purchased this vehicle because I was in a bad car accident in month #3 and was not injured. The airbags did their job and the car was easily repaired - the important thing was that we were all safe. Will probably be a Jeep customer for life.

Worth the wait

Ordered a new fully loaded hemi overland in October and just got it 10 weeks later. Drove the X3, X5, Q5, Tiguan, 4-runner and RX350, etc. Looked at the fords and chevy's but they had zero interior appeal. This vehicle has everything - best interior of all we looked at, reclining rear seats, air conditioned seats, heated steering wheel, backup camera, navigation, is extremely offroad capable, tows 7200 lbs. and is the quietest of any vehicle we have ever driven, all for at least $10,000 less than the equivalent competition. No buyers remorse here!!

Best looking SUV on the Road

I began by researching @ 12 midsize suv's. Made a spread sheet of specs. Didn't even consider a Jeep product because of past complaints in reviews of older models. Then saw an article in Popular Mechanics magazine @ the new completely redesigned Jeep GC. Then began researching it on the 6 major auto websites. What a surprise! After a few test drives fell in love. Now own a new 2011 Jeep GC Laredo V6 4x4. Only two things could be improved. It is a solid heavy vehicle without much torque at low rpm's so quick acceleration is not strong unless you tap it into the next lower gear. Also there is little stearing feedback at low speeds due to the proportional steering which increases sensitivity the faster you go. I've always driven small sportry cars. It is quiet and comfortable. There is no body roll on the winding country roads where I live. Aggressive cornering maneuvers are completely under control. This was surprising considering the tall ride height. Bumps and potholes are nearly unnoticable. Love the standard electric seat position and lumbar adjustment and telescoping steering wheel. Standard Sat Radio is a bonus since there are no classic rock FM stations where I live. I got the most basic model available w/no options and yet it's still a high end luxury suv that performs better the harder you push it. Much cheaper than BMW, Lexus, Volvo or Mercedes. And the best looking suv on the road.

Engine Trouble

Traded in my 2008 Grand Cherokee and purchased the new Laredo version a few weeks ago and all seemed to be wonderful with this vehicle until mile 300 when all of a sudden the vehicle stalled out. Once I was able to get it to restart it acted like it was only running on a few cylinders. After extensive diagnostics and consulting with Chrysler factory engineers the dealership ?thinks? there may be a problem with a camshaft position sensor and/or the related components. Do not have the vehicle back yet, I have owed this Jeep for about 3 weeks and dealership has had it for 1 of those weeks, so I cannot comment on if the suggested repairs have work. There is also a squeak in the dash that makes noise anytime you hit a bump that gets a little annoying after a while. In the end I wish I would have just kept the 2008 that was reliable and running fine, as I feel I may have a problematic vehicle on my hands. Also, I am not too sure if I feel comfortable taking this vehicle on our road trip coming up. I would hate to get stuck on the side of a wintery road with the family. My suggestions would be wait a year or so before purchasing this vehicle so Jeep has a chance to work out issues that always seem to popup with new redesigned vehicles.

6th Jeep and the best by far

I recently bought the 2011 GC Limited. I wanted the Overland but was given a better deal on my trade if I took the limited on the lot. This is my 6th Jeep and the best by far! I love this Jeep. It has everything I wanted and I am still figuring out how to use some of the features. My husband as a 2009 Dodge Ram so some features are very similar. I love the automatic hatch, rain sensing wipers, auto headlights and much more. Gas mileage has improved over my 05 V8 that I traded. I have owned GC since they first came out in 93 and none compare to this. Since my purchase 2 of my co -workers are considering buying one. If you are on the fence, drive one...then buy it! You won't be sorry.

2011 Grand Cherokee - Wait until 2012 and beyond

I purchased my new 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee three months ago and have not been able to really enjoy the feeling of having purchased a new car. Since day one I have had nothing but issues with this newly redesigned Jeep. Some of the interior buttons that illuminate throughout the vehicle did not work and had to be replaced. One of the two cup holders in the center console jammed and broke and had to be replaced. The automatic rear hatch has an alarm beep that goes off when the rear hatch is opening or closing. That alarm beep shorted-out and had to be replaced. The iPod player shorted out as well and would not play or bring up my playlists. The car continually veered to the left & the steering vibrating a lot when driving at highway speeds, therefore I had to have the car aligned and the front tires balanced. Once started, the vehicle has stalled on my twice and had to be restarted. This vehicle is big on looks, and I get a lot of compliments on it, but being a redesigned vehicle, I recommend waiting until this Jeep has gone through a few production years and all the bugs have been worked out.

Best Jeep I've Owned

The 2011 Jeep GC is, without a doubt, the best Jeep I've owned over the last 20 years. Love the key-less ignition. Handles like a much more expensive vehicle and the gas mileage is a vast improvement over previous Jeeps.

Best bang for the buck in luxury SUV

Last week I purchased a brand new Jeep Overland in Black and Tan interior it did not have the offroad or sensor package but came with dvd and mutliple other options. After shopping EVERY other SUV in the 40-60k price range (and some in the 60-70) the jeep stood out and everything my wife and I looked at we compared to the Jeep. The other contenders were Audi Q7 / Mercedes / BMW x5 / Volkswagon touraeg / Tahoe / Yukon / Escalade / Porsche Cyanne etc.. After having it for a week here are the main +'s and -'s. Pros - Can go offroad (I climbed a serious offroad hill the first night I had it since it inspires confidence in offroad capability) - Great Ergonomic Design everything can be done from the steering wheel (volume/channel buttons are on the backside which took me a bit to find) This is BMW style in the fact it is all about the drivers comfort and ease of use. - DVD media system is very functional and lots of storage with 30gb hd. - Love the storage bins around the spare tire, I put my hitch there and a flashlight and emergency kit so they are out of the way. - Air conditioned / heated seats, very nice for the summer on the leather. -110v 150w power inverter built in (nice to charge stuff while en route like a laptop without having to buy travel plugs) -Good ammount of room in the back with the seats down - Hemi is really powerful.. and for 15% less gas milage I think it's worth it since you can put regular unleaded in the car. - Can tow a 19ft Fiberglass Bass boat like it's not even there. Cons -Flimsy latch on the ipod cover (which is out of sight though) it feels like if you open/closed it a couple of times it would break off exposing the pins etc. - No front sensors for parking, my garage is barely big enough to put this car in with 2ft of clearance on both sides I have to pull pretty far forward... Can be resolved with hanging a tennis ball etc, but I would rather have sensors like my previous car.
