Glad I tried it

I had been driving a 1996 GC limited I bought used over 11 years ago and was happy with it. My wife decided I needed to look into a new vehicle. I checked out several vehicles including the GMC Terrain, which I liked. I decided it was really time when the new GC's came out with the new body style. I drove one and bought the Limited edition with the HEMI the same day. I am glad she pushed me into it, it is such a pleasure to drive. It is a little pricey, but you get over that after driving it.

Repeat JHC Buyer . . . Blown Away with 2011!

I purchased the 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee Overland. I recommend the Blackberry Pearl color, it's a beautiful dark, metaillic blue in in the sun and can turn into black on a cloudy day. The Jeep came loaded with everything but skid plates and safety sensor group. But, the 20 inch wheels do look nice (if I had a need to go offroading all the time, the 18 inchers with the Off Road 2 package would probably be best). The 20 inch all season tires will be upgraded to All-Terrain when I need to switch them out. But, as wife won't let me take this $44,500 Jeep offroad for a few years, I'm not worried about it. Everything you've read about this jeep is true. I owned a 2005 JGC and, the 2011 is light years ahead of it in every respect. I went with the 5.7 L V-8 over the V6 (which is good and better than the old 4.7 L V-8 I had in the 2005). At the end of the day, $500 more a year isn't enough to get me to lose performance; off the line, it's a screamer. The interior is well executed, best I've seen from Chrysler on any vehicle. The premium leather is great and the interior is quiet when its supposed to be. But, floor it and you can hear the wonderful Hemi going to work. Haven't taken it off road, but the air suspension, selec-trac, and quadra-drive two should make easy work out of Winter driving. I shopped other SUV's including the BMW X5, Lexus and Mercedes. Basically, for 10-15,000 less, I got a vehicle that has built-in-quality that meets and exceeds these vehicles with more off road capability. Yes, the Mercedes and Jeep and cousins, but, IMO, the Jeep is the stronger, more tight vehicle of the two. (I've read that there are 1000's more safety welds in the jeep frame vs. the MB frame.) All in all, I'm delighted that Detroit and Chrysler can make a Jeep like this. If Fiat/Chrysler are able to execute like this in their other cars, Chrysler will be back soon and more relevant than ever before.

Stoked on the new Grand Cherokee

I have the 4x4 overland. Beautiful SUV inside and out. Very solid ride and build quality. THis is not your typical jeep, they have stepped up their game a thousand times over. Dont have time to go over all the +'s. Only thing to improve would be a better/newer nav display (chrysler has had this same one for a while), its still good but feels a little dated compared to the rest of the vehicle. V6 is a little week, but the trade off in gas mileage is worth it. Only question I have in my mind is how dependable will it end up being from a mechanical standpoint. Overall I would highly recomend it!!!

Love the quiet ride

I purchased the 2011 GC Laredo X 4X4 with the 26X Package. This SUV far exceeded my expectations after driving many other luxury SUV's. I never thought I would trade my sports car for a GC Jeep but after a test drive I had to have it. The ride is smooth and quiet. Comfortable leather seating, easy to use hands free phone, remote start, wide back up camera, and clear SIRIUS sound. Great value and bold design. I'm getting 22-24 mpg for city and interstate driving with regular unleaded gas. E85 gas gave me 16-18 mpg. I'll stick to regular unleaded gasoline. The cargo compartment cover is great for keeping items hidden. Cargo hooks and knobs...Still can't locate a cargo net!

So Glad the Wrangler was delayed!!!

I had ordered the 2011 Wrangler Unlimited and it kept getting delayed because of the body colored hard top. After I was told that it would be another 3-4 weeks, I couldn't wait anymore. I went back to the dealer and test drove the GC Laredo X and loved it. For the little bit more I was paying in price, I got a whole lot more in options. I love the quiet ride and being up higher than my previous sedan. The V6 really responds when you hit the gas!! The upgrade in the interior is amazing compared to what Chrysler was putting out before. I live in Michigan and was not going to buy a Chrysler product for a long time. This Jeep has truely changed my mind and I am glad to see that Chrysler is getting back into contention with the other auto makers. Looking forward to many miles with this Jeep!

Best Jeep GC Ever

My partner just traded in a 2008 Honda Accord for the 2011 laredo base model. I asked her to check it out first because she is a Honda loyalist (she never owned anything but a Pinto before). She went along with me because we had a crash with a drunk driver over a year ago. I totaled my Dodge Charger (2006) but we made it out alive. We both have numerous injuries and still healing. She has had knee replacement and may need the other knee replaced soon. She was not able to get in and out of the Honda very well even at 5' tall and tiny. I go 235 6' so you know what I was going thru with a bad back and 2 bad knees. She got the GC L and is very well pleased for the money it is the same as a well equipped Honda Accord and check out the standard equipment you will be amazed at what you get and 4x4 ability plus a much better ride with very little road noise the mileage so far is 19-22 in the city have not had it on the hiway but going to Colorado in a few weeks and I am happy it will be in the GC L. I don't think we could have done well in the Honda Accord. She is little but handled it very well, and LOVES it.

Very Impressed so far

I actually traded a SRT CHALLENGER for this Jeep (Laredo X). I blew out my left knee and the CHALLENGER was a manual tranny...needed a new driver. Being a Chrysler guy, it was a natural choice. This is my first jeep and I just picked it up today, but so far I am VERY impressed. Just wish that you could get NEV with the pano sunroof?

Just discovered a water leak in the back end. Had to wet vac. the thing. Water was standing in the spare tire area!! Very disappointing. Vehicle has 2000 miles on it. Back to the dealer,

possably The Best 4x4

I had been thinking of buying an SUV for a while but since my wife bought the Seina XLE and I have other vehicles I had laid off the idea for a while. I first saw a 2011 Grand Cerokee on the highway and was impressed enough to go to the nearest dealer to drive one. They had a Limited V8 that I test drive and decided I wanted a Limited with the V6 instead. I took delivery on a Limited, Blackberry Pearl paint with beage interior with the open roof, towing, nav with 30G stereo and of course standard all terrain selectable all wheel drive. Love the performance of this Jeep, it is very quiet and rides like a luxury car, handles like a sports car and has a hidden agenda for ruggedness. Gas milage is better than stated so far and with only 700 miles on the clock I am seeing 19.5 to 25.1 on the onboard computer. I usually only purchase foreign vehicles, never thaught I would buy a Jeep, however doing the proper research and knowledge of mechanical engineering assured me this is a good purchase for the scarce dollar.

only one major flaw

Really looked forward to the redesign. They did a great job improving fit/finish. Rear leg room was better than the old, still could be a little bigger. Only reason I did not purchase on the spot is the panoramic roof. While many people like this feature, I prefer my autos without the hole in the roof. Problem is there is no delete option for the sunroof out side of the base model. This is something that should be an option in my opinion. Will wait to see if this changes midyear to be optional. Others may agree with me, some will not.
