Love the car, but.....

I am simply in love with my recently purchased, pre-owned Jeep Renegade Latitude. It is everything I was wanting in a Jeep and more. However, I've had a bad experience with it and am wondering if my joy may been too soon. Went riding in it today and needed to back onto a slight hill. Once sitting on the hill I put it in park and got out. When I got back in I started the vehicle and reached down and tried to shift it from Park to Drive. It wouldn't move out of Park. Long story short, I had to have it towed to the car dealership. Since it is Friday night, I won't know what the problem is and/or if it can be fixed until next week. Regardless of this problem, I still love the vehicle but will be somewhat leery of it I guess. I hope the mechanics that fix it can reassure me it won't happen again.

Treat yourself. Try one

This is a smallish SUV. It is not a big SUV. Unless you have a large family it is sufficient. It is well species, comfortable, quiet, cheap to insure, cheap to run (57mpg on mixed driving) and most importantly TOTALLY reliable. I have had mine for two years (bought it new) and it has had no faults. You can pick up a new or nearly new one for a reasonable price. Forget your bias. It doesn't matter whether you like Mr Trump or not. Go try one. You might be pleasantly surprised.

Had a lot of problems but has been worked on

I like it as the sizing is perfect for me. Parks easy and gets me where I need to be. Every time I take it in, repairs get done correctly

An Actual Death Trap and awful customer service.

The word Renegade means "traitor". I thought this was odd when I bought my 2018 Jeep Renegade. I wondered why Jeep would give such a title of betrayal to a vehicle. I've only owned my Jeep for a year and a couple months. It has a little over 30k miles on it. Everything was working fine until last week. Last week I was driving down the road and my Jeep suddenly completely shut off. While I was driving. It took several minutes of trying before the Renegade would start back up. I checked the oil and the Jeep was completely empty. Not a drop of oil even though I had just had an oil change at the Fields Jeep dealership 1,000 miles ago. So, I put some oil in and immediately drove it back to the Fields Jeep dealership. I told them what had happened and the mechanic informed me that it was "super common" for the 2018 renegades to burn oil. I was told that it wasnt a "big enough issue" for them to use my warranty and fix the problem. Instead they suggested I check my oil every thousand miles and keep it topped off. I left the dealership and poured THREE MORE QUARTS of oil into the Jeep before it met the minimum level on the dipstick. Then I did some research and the story gets even more horrific. A quick Google search of "2018 renegade burning oil" will lead you to numerous nightmarish stories. One person said their renegade shut off on the interstate causing an accident. Tens, if not hundreds, of horror stories are on the internet. Out of all of them, none of the engines were replaced but one. Jeep tells us all the same exact thing. "It's not that big of a problem". Really? It's not an emissions scandal? It's not a safety hazard? It's not worth recalling and owning up to your fault? JD Power.Com has recently wiped their reviews of the 2018 Jeep renegade. Did you pay for this, Jeep? To have your negative reviews removed so you can continue to sell these ticking time bomb death traps? I'm absolutely appalled by the boorish customer care Jeep offers. I did the only logical thing left to do, and traded the Renegade in for a different car from a different company. Unfortunately, the problem is so common and well known, that the Jeep Renegade I paid 28K for last year, is now only worth 13K. I lost 15K but it's better than losing even more money in the future, or losing my life when this thing shuts down on the interstate. I now understand why Jeep named this vehicle the Renegade. Jeep the company will without a doubt betray their customers as soon as you sign the sale papers. Shop somewhere else.

Not very happy

I had purchased a Chevy Cruze and started having some issues with it after taking it to memering to be looked at I found out that it had been wrecked and it was going to cost around $500 to fix properly. Pretty upset by the whole thing I loved my car but it turned out it wasn’t safe to drive. So they talked me into buying another vehicle which I still have but I will not be making another purchase from them I’ll be going back to memering.

Uses oil

I am a senior citizen. It stopped on me. No oil. It uses oil. Do not need this headache. Uses a quart between oil changes. Would not recommend this car.

Sporty Sharp looking Great interior

I drive a lot. Had a few flat tires but Renegade has NO spare tire, NO "dummy" tire, and NO jack... so not very reliable for tools to use in emergency!!! Also not "gutsy" so not sure how 4-wheel would really work. Nice interior, rearview camera, and amenities, but lacking in emergency tools/supplies which is concerning for my daily 75-90 miles driven. Gas mileage Ok.
