Well worth the money

This car was our 1st foreign car and was purchsed for my wife, then when she wanted a new one I began driving it. In the past I have gone through a car in about 2-1/2 years I average 40 to 45K miles per year, so I thought I'd only have this car about a year. I now have 140K miles on it and really don't see any reason to get rid of it. I hope to be able to put 200K miles. We have had NO PROBLEMS; can't say that about any of the American cars I've owned.

nissan is not the best but it will do .

118,600 miles and I have only had minor issues . The crankshaft sensor went twice in 10 months and nissan would not repair it for free or meet me half way and I was only a little passed there 12000 miles so called guarantee . Other than that I had to replace the battery , and the right rear hub bearing . I will never buy new again the 1st year depreciation is crazy !

Wish I took it with me

Had this car for three years and the only thing I could complain about was the payment (was set to a 72 month plan). Don't be fooled: Foreign cars will cost you, but well worth it. In the first 6 months, I replaced the spark plugs and wires, sensors, battery, serpentine belt and a coil or two--total over $500. (The previous owner, I came to learn, was an elderly woman who never did more than change the oil--still had all of its factory parts). Regular maintenance will keep the car running like new, even when over 125K miles. Handles rough terrains like it's nothing (e.g. winding hills and back roads in Kentucky) and loved the ABS brakes. Just moved from the mainland and while I had the vehicle ready to be transported, I later gave it to a family member who had trouble financing a car of their own...

This Altima is a Rocket!

My first Altima was a 1997 with the 2.4 liter 4. Nice car, reliable, but nothing great. When the 2002's came out, I was able to rent a few on business trips. Much better product. A couple years ago, the car bug hit me and I test drove an Altima with the 3.5 liter V6. It was a Rocket! I said to myself (as Will Smith did in Independence Day), I gotta get me one of these! Eventually, I did. Bought a 2005 Altima 3.5 SE 15 months ago - used - with 47,000 miles on it for $11K. This one is silky black and is just as much of a "rocket" as the car I test drove a few years earlier. It has excellent acceleration, both from a standing start and when needing to pass at 70+. Handles very nicely also. If I do give it any bad points, it would be not-so-good inclement weather handling. No ABS on this car!? C'mon, Nissan!! Kinda hard to believe they left that off, especially a car with this much power. Nonetheless, I LOVE this car. It's been a blast to drive and very reliable thus far. Go Rocket!

Altima SER Potentials

SER is an inspiration for those inbetween a sporty ride and family concerns. Highly spacious 4dr sedan wrapped in high quality leather. Simplist bolt-ons to your engine would devastate Mustang GT's and 350/370z's. I had installed Nismo CAI (Cold Air Intake) Nismo Camshafts, and Nismo Fuel Pressure Regulator. These items combined with factory installed Sports-Tuned exhaust and suspension make this car a true experience. Also when it came time to replace the tires I went wider from a 225/45R18 to a 245/45R18. This increased it's traction for better acceleration and cornering. Also made for a more aggressive appearance. Highway gas mileage is excellent and very very for city, maintenance has been very easy with no major issues or concerns after 5 years. Especially after 5 years this car still looks like new and performs as well. I would like to replace this vehicle for a more current version of an SER.

There's NOTHING like an Altima

When i was thirteen, the 2002 model year Nissan Altima came out. I told my mom that i WOULD own that car. So when i was 19, i bought a 2005 pearl white 3.5 SL with auto trans. It had every option except navigation. The layout of the dash controls are so perfect its not even funny, and the steering wheel controls make it that much easier. The xenon headlights help you make your way no matter how dark it is. The V6 engine is like a dream, all the passing power your could ever want! Even with the V6 engine, i consistently averaged 42mpg on my way home from work with the cruise set at about 62mph. The BOSE stereo is so amazing, even for people who like some bump with their tunes, there is no need for an amp and subs! I love being able to lower the windows with key fob, so convenient on a hot day! The only downside to the V6 is that it needs premium fuel, however the gas mileage is so good it more than makes up for the difference. Also, winter driving with the stock all season tires was not the best. The exact same tires came on my previous car, a Ford Taurus and it was much better in the snow, so i would suggest buying winter tires. But if your a careful driver you should be fine. Overall however, this car is perfect! i had no problems with it. Unfortunately, i was laid off from one of my jobs and could no longer afford my Altima. i traded it in for a Mazda 3. Oh, how i miss my V6 and BOSE stereo! My Mazda is a beautiful, sporty, and reliable car, but you can bet your bottom dollar ill be in another Altima when i can afford it!

Great car!

I bought this car almost a year ago with 24,500 miles on it for almost $14,000. It now has about 32,000 miles on it and I love this car so much. Before this car I had a 1995 Camery with 200,000 miles on it when the transmission broke. While reseaching other cars for my price range I came across the Altima. I have always loved the look of the Altima but I had never driven a Nissan and I was shocked when I test drove my Altima how it drove just as good if not better than the Hondas and Toyotas my family has always had. It has great pickup and an amazing amount of foot room and space. My friends always wanna drive in my car because of all the room. It easily sits 5 very nicely. With three in the back its usually squshed but not in my Altima. The seats are so comfy and great fabric on the seats. I also love how sporty it looks on the outside. I was worried with it being a sadan that it would like a mom car and being that I am only 21 I don't want that look quite yet but I feel like it looks cool and sporty!! I love this car so much and will more than likely own a Nissan for the rest of my life! I totally recommend this car to anyone looking for a great nice car!

Excellent Sedan

Have owned my Altima for 3 years, put about 40,000 miles on it. No problems of any kind, just routine maintenance. Great acceleration for a 4 cyl. Very nice handling. Interior is rather plain but well put together. Much prefer this rascal to a Camry or Accord.

Good Car... only a few problems

I bought my 2.5 S a little over a year ago for 12,000 w 47,000miles on it. I love it, it is my second car. I had a v6 chevy blazer before this(loved the power, but lemon of a car) I've really only needed to do regular things to it (brakes, 4 tires, transmition flush, oil changes) but there are two problems that arnt so regular. The rear springs are bent, meaning that my back end it lower then my front, even though, im a teen and haven't stressed the suspention w moving or anything. and bought it from a mother w a 3y/o. i was asked if it was owned by a salesmen that loaded the car down normaly. So when ever i go over certain bumps or drive ways i scrape bottom. =( The other is my speed omiter is off. It says i'm goin 4mph faster than i really go. i found this out due to my gps. For it being a 4 cylinder, it has get up when i need it too. its not a corvette but im aware of that. I really wish i had better gas mileage for the lack of power, i get a average of 25mph, i get normally 385 miles on a full tank. I love the look of the car, i'm 19 yo male. i think it looks sporty, yet classy. my friends envy my car. As one person told me, oh, you got a grown up car... lol even tho i have the 2.5 s i have the extras like wood grain and sunroof. i dont have ABS, wich is HORRIBLE. that is the one thing i think should be standard. I've had a few close calls i think i wouldn't of had with ABS. Liek i said, i understand its not a sports car and only has 4 cylinders, but it does well power wise. it handles amazingly holding the corners like my frinds scion tc (btw i prefer this over the sport scion tc) OVERALL- I love my car, i think i got a good deal, and know i have a good car for a long time as long as the regular maitnece is taken care of. P.S. My mom loved my car so much, she went out and bought a 2009 Nissan Altima 2.5 S
