I was always a fan of the 5th generation especially the 02/03 models I had a 2000 many years ago and it was great I just got a 2002 se about a month ago with only 128k miles!!!! That’s low considering it’s almost 23 years old it still rides fantastic and the power is very impressive even by todays standards gas mileage is decent it has aged just a bit but still modern enough to not feel super old I definitely recommend this car if you can find one in good shape

The car is not a bad car and for the year 2002 came fully

The car is not a bad car and for the year 2002 came fully loaded. The security system in this car absolutely destroys it and once you begin to have problems with it it’s a rabbit hole of trying to trace the problems and replace the required parts to make the car driveable. Specifically the immobilizer it seemingly just goes bad over time and I’ve never experienced such a thing in any other vehicle ever. Nissan is by far the most disappointing automakers out there, Kia is far better quality and Kia is cheap Korean junk.

Reliable if taken care of.

I bought a 02 maxima se with 215,000 miles on it. whoever had it before me did not take very good care of it but I rebuilt the whole engine and is as smooth and good running as a brand new car. Love that thing, great power when you need it and gets fairly good gas milage if you don't hotrod it around all the time.

Awesome Max the 4 door sports car!

I had a 2002 Maxima my second maxima btw, sold it with 265000 miles on it. See it from time to time, wish I had kept that one! Fun to drive, very reliable everyday work ride!

I just love Maximum

So far, I've only had my car since Aug 15,20 and I've replaced the starter, rack pinion, bushels, front end alignment, but no worries! I bought it because I noticed the low, low mileage. I did believe the original parts, it's just time to replace them, but I am very grateful to just have my old school, the older cars are better for me!

I’ve owned since 2003.

This car still drives really well. It shows its age , but, it has aged well. I’ve done the required maintenance since day one. I just installed a new alternator and battery.

Very realible, just done minor issues

Very good car, currently own a 2002 Nissan Maxima SE with 216,000 miles on it, the only complaint I have is when it gets high miles on it there’s a little ticking noise when you start it because the oil is it getting to the injectors right away and when you wrap on it it gets like 7 miles to the gallon

Catalytic converter problems

I had an '02 maxima that rode well for the first six months. It got good gas mileage for a v6 and handled very well. The problem I had that I'm surprised no one has talked about the 3 catalytic converters that clog. I also had an '01 that had the same problem. All in all I have had 3 maximas. The '96 maxima was the best of the 3, (which I had until 244,000 miles). I got rid of that because it kept shutting off during left turns.

Fast and sporty

I own a 2016 stingray and I get a better kick racing and winning in the 2002 Maxima. It stuns people. Don’t like the Shifter(automatic) the slots are aggravating. Overall love it
