Great Commuter Car

Needed a car for a 60 mile round trip, daily. Also needed to fit my two teenage sons in the back on weekend trips around town. I selected the Versa over several other make/models due to huge leg room in back seat, super gas mileage, comfort in handling (hey, it's a commuter car, not a luxury sedan, but I don't get a sore back or butt from driving it). It came with a great stereo package including i-pod connectivity, cd player, and steering wheel audio controls. Integrated bluetooth that works really well and the cargo area is fine for this class of car (subcompact - hatchback).

Good Car for the $

We purchased a Versa 1.8S hatchback with 6 speed manual transmission about 6 weeks ago. Pros: Good value for the $, Nissan reliability, great safety ratings, excellent head and leg room in both the front and back seats, huge cargo area with the back seats folded down, plenty of accelaration merging on to the freeway, solid ride for a small car, turns on a dime, fun to drive. Combined gas mileage so far of 33 MPG. Cons: Although I have plenty of leg room, I have to slide the seat further forward than I would like so my arms can reach the steering wheel. A telescoping steering wheel would be helpful and solve this problem. Also, no center console/arm rest (we purchased an aftermarket arm rest on ebay for $70), and because the backseats don't fold down flat, there's about an 8" difference in elevation in the cargo area. The upholstery is made from a velour-type material and everything sticks to it - especially dog fur!

Not Sure

This is the first Nissan vehicle I have purchased. I have owned my Versa for approximately 2.5 months. My most recent cars were a Corolla S model and a Camry LE model. Each driven 4-5 years. I do like the look and feel of the Versa. I purchased a Nissan Versa 1.8 SL HB with CVT after reading reviews and test driving several comparable vehicles. Although I enjoy driving the car I have been disappointed with the gas MPG. I got much better gas mileage with the Corolla. I currently am getting an average of 24 - 25 MPG instead of the 28-34 MPG the EPA website lists. This was one of the comparison factors I used in order to purchase the Versa. I paid extra to get the SL with CVT because of the estimated MPG savings by the EPA. My other concern is I am already having an issue with the Versa interior. The headliner in the car is coming loose and fraying across the front by the windshield. This is a new car and new cars should not have this type of problem. If this is happening after such a short time, it makes me question the overall quality and dependability of the vehicle. Driving the Versa is fun but I would hesitate to recommend this car to a friend based on the less than stellar MPG and the issue with the car's headliner.

More than I expected

Much more car than I expected for the quality. Fun to drive, good on gas, the hatchback holds plenty, and is good looking. I am really surprised for 16,000 all in you can get this level of goods. Go buy!

Love, love, love this car!

I just purchased a new 2011 Versa SL Hatchback with the CVT. I drove the base model and the SL and was sold on the SL with the CVT. It's so worth the extra money. The ride is incredible, so smooth! This great little car is so much fun to drive. The visibility is great. You can turn on a dime, and get in and out of parking spots with ease. The seats are so incredibly comfortable, and so much leg room in the front and back seats. Also has good headroom. Safety is important to me, and this car has everything I wanted. Front and side curtain airbags, ABS,EBD, and traction control. I couldn't find another car in it's class that had all of these. I'm coming from a Subaru Outback with all wheel drive, so I'm a little concerned about how it will handle in the Minnesota winters. I've talked to a couple of people who have told me that if I put on Blizzack tires, it will ride just like an all wheel drive. I'm going to give it a try as soon as winter approaches. I love the versatility of the hatchback. The back seat folds down for lots of cargo space. The front passenger seat also lays flat to give you 8' of cargo space. I don't use the back seat much, but it's nice to have such a roomy back seat when I do need it. The only thing I would like to see changed is to have the arm rest/center console longer and deeper for more storage. The way it is now, you can't reach the steering wheel while your arm is resting on the arm rest. It' would also be nice to have a telescoping steering wheel, but I guess you can't have everything, especially in a car in this price range. I did a lot of research and drove a lot of cars, and I think this car gives you the most for your money, and rides better than any of the cars in it's class. I highly recommend this car.
