Comfortable; a few annoyances.

Positive: Slightly higher to the ground in traffic; Very comfortable seats with heat for the winter; Larger fuel tank that allows longer distances between fill ups; Winter floor mats , with the option to switch to carpet in the summer; Like the backup camera; Stick shift still available. Negatives: Surprised at the relatively poor fuel milage (only ~25 mpg; AWD). Don't like the fuel opening on the passenger side. VERY ANNOYED that I cannot just use the key in the door without the vehicle screaming at me. The key does not fold so it can easily rip a hole in the pockets of jeans. Safety features EyeSight driver assist, Blind-Spot detection, Rear cross-traffic alert were not available for stick shift.

My first New Car in 20 years

Like the Special Edition extras like the sun roof and trim... I especially like the wheels are different from the standard models (leftovers from the 2016 hybrid?). Good gas mileage and room inside for stuff, like my keyboard and other band equipment.

safety first

couldn't find a reliable first car for under 10. at 15, nice cars, but technology beckons. now with collision mitigation (eyesight in case of Subaru), you have to ask yourself which safety features you DON'T want for your kids. we used to buy cars with the best impact reduction (concealed roll cages, etc.) so that in a collision, occupants are best protected this is really the first generation where we can do something to avoid the collision in the first place, including the texting perdiatrain that might stumble in from of the car... Although he is more conscienscious that we were as kids, as my sons first car, the sin of inattentiveness might be forgiven with collision avoidance... and he loves the rims and the look, and can expect to make it to the ski slopes when conditions are at their worst (and we don't have to worry, nearly as much! sounds like a good deal to me (PS, I bought a Mazda CX-5 for my daughter, similar reasons... ps watch the details - they all don't come fully equipped with all safety features

Love this car!

Love this car! Have only had it for a month but so far it's been great. Cleaver design, spacious and comfortable. Performs well and looks great. Many great optional features to choose from but you almost don't need to add on because of all the great features that are included. I highly recommend the Crosstrek if you are looking for a small SUV.
