1st Suburu
Ill I always had high expectations for Suburu and they delivered. BEST customer service i have ever had in my life!. I bought this Forester for my wife about 4 months ago. Overall it is really nice, good MPG. We enjoy it a lot for long trips and in the city of course. I found that the Heated seat buttons where in a weird spot. But that's a minor thing!. They also should of gave it a little more kick to the HP, even 15 or 20 hp would of made a world of difference. I would recommend this suv to anyone of my friends.

Ok, But I Preferred the Older Forrester
I wanted to replace my 2004 Subaru Outback wagon with a car like my wife's 2006 Forester. I wanted a stick and AWD, which pretty much leaves me with Subaru. Unfortunately, they made the Forester a lot bigger in 2009, and I ended up with a much larger car than I wanted. I think it's oversized for the power train as well, because you can feel it hesitating when the A/C kicks in & out. It's OK, and all I really want is safe reliable transportation. I'm certainly not as happy with it as I had hoped for the money spent, but there weren't any other options.

best visibility of any similar car
I was disappointed in the newer small SUV's on the market because they all sacrificed visibility for style. All the Lexus wannabes have a sloped roof and the larger rear pillars (as well as those high headrests in the front and back seats) which make for large blind spots. I found it difficult to safely change lanes for lack of a clear view. I was actually amused that Mazda recognized the problem, but instead of redesigning the car to solve the problem, they added a blind spot sensor and alarm on the side mirror to let you know someone is there, even if you can't see him. The sloped roof also cuts the distance you can see behind your car. My Forester has virtually no blind spots! Also the hatch back area with the higher roof makes an adequate space for my 2 dogs to ride so I don't have dog hair all over my car seats. And the car doesn't look like all the others. A plus!

Good car Horrible radio
The car itself is great. Good visibility, great handling and plenty of power. They really dropped the ball with the stereo. The worst radio Ive ever had in a car.

Best value for the $$$
2.5X auto for $20,788. AWD, 26mpg, comfortable, stable handling, and plenty of cargo room. You wont find an AWD this good for anywhere near the price! Only suggestion would be to have a 5speed automatic and a "low" gear for trails and this would be the ultimate mountain vehicle!

Good and reliable
Forester 2012 is worth every penny you spend on it. The gas mileage up to 27.0 and more on the highway, good acceleration and a touch of luxury if you chose leather interior. The only drawback -- they removed interior cover in the luggage compartment so everyone may see you luggage on the parking lot. Very bad idea!

An Almost Perfect Car
I've had my Forester for almost 3 months now and I've driven it about 4k miles. Overall, I love this car and the reasons I love it have been mentioned in other reviews; performance--esp in bad weather-- , the view from inside car, the brand's proven track record, a very comfortable ride (I'm 6ft), space, intuitive dashboard etc. My only real complaint thus far is the gas mileage. But then, my last car was a much smaller Toyota and really, 25-26mpg isn't terrible. And it's not as if I didn't know what the gas mileage was before I bought the car. But, as I said, I love this car and do not regret my choice. In fact, I am now a proud member of the "cult of Subaru" and plan to stay with brand.

I hate this car
When shopping for my new car I was looking at several other brands as well as Subaru. The two front runners were hybrid suvs, but neither company could get one to me in under 3 months. I regret not waiting. The dealer wowed me with safety talk and blah blah and what ever they tell a person. Then we took it on a short drive. It was nice, better even than I expected. The problem is that the test drive was on back roads. They would not let it out on the interstate, and I thought nothing of it at the time. So here are my complaints. The car is under powered. Not a slug but it sure takes a while to get up to speed. And as underpowered as the car is, it sure could get better fuel milage than it does. Mid 20's driving the speed limit with cruise control. It only has a four speed transmission that stutters and pauses a lot as if it were confused. Also my car is three months old and already I have had trouble starting it in the morning plus lots of minor body parts falling off or coming loose and rattling. I have a 30 year old truck that does not rattle as bad as this car.

Love this SUV
My job requires me to be at work regardless of weather conditions forced me to sell my 350z in lieu of an AWD car. After testing several different SUVs I found the forester to stand out from the crowd. Power is decent, but not lacking on the base 2.5x. Handling is superb, and Subaru's symetrical awd makes you just want to push it harder. It handled remarkably well in snow as well, even on the stock all season tires. MPG is average, I tend to get 23 mpg combined with upwards of 27-29mpg on the highway. I'm amazed by the amount of space this vehicle has. The interior has that premium feel as well. My only complaint, as a previous reviewer noted, is that this car could certainly benefit from a couple extra gears on the AT. I bought this car on the day of a massive hurricane on the east coast and drove straight through it. The car performed amazingly.

Excellent!
This is my first Subaru, and I am sold on the brand. The vehicle rides smooth, and handles bad weather like a champ. We had a few inches of snow here in CT this winter(Which isn't much!), and while everyone else was sliding all over the road, I was solidly in place, driving up steep hills and stopping and going with no problems. The interior is alright- a previous poster stated that the seats were terrible, and I can definitely say that is NOT the case. I am 6'2" and weigh 180 pounds, and the seat is just fine for me. I think maybe there is a difference in the 2011 to the 2012 seats? Not sure, but it is definitely comfortable for me. That poster also talked about the radio- they are about right on that mark. The stereo is weak compared to others. It will play a CD or MP3 player decently, but switch to the radio and you have the weakest sound I have heard in a vehicle in a long time. I will definitely be replacing the head unit. The all-weather package is a must, too. Love the heated seats and heated mirrors. The gas mileage is alright- I drive about half high way and half city, and I am averaging 24 mpg, which is what I expected. The visibility is amazing. The engine is pretty responsive- not the most punchy car, but enough to get around a truck on the highway or get up to speed on an on ramp. Overall, an amazing car. Best vehicle purchase I've ever made.
