Most Car for the Money

Looked at many comparable cars (Buick, Ford, Honda, Nissan, Toyota, Hyundai ) and found the Subaru offered the most for it's money. I also read it was car and track vehicle of the year

Perfect Time To Test Drive And Buy

Living in the lower Great Lakes region, we occasionally are subject to winter storms with huge amounts of snow. That was the case on the afternoon we took a Subaru Forrester for a test drive. We were very impressed with the comfort and style of the vehicle. However, the most impressive feature was how well the vehicle handled in the terrible driving conditions. The Forrester was sure-footed and blasted through the 7 inches of snow on the main roads plus the huge wind blown drifts on the secondary surfaces. The Forrester far exceeded our expectations and is now parked in our garage.

Practical and sprightly

Bot the LTD version to get most of the features, including Xmode, but avoid the annoying Navigation. I prefer to use my IPhone for that- more accurate & portable.

DISAPPOINTED - TERRIBLE RIDE

I've driven a 2006 Forester until now which I loved, but unfortunately hit a deer (great crash test results, however!) This one has some pros: roomy, great views, love the CVT, peppy, nice radio, but: This car has the worst ride of any vehicle I've ever driven. I don't know how they passed this new suspension. If you have back problems or kidney problems, this is not your vehicle. You will feel every tiny bump in the road. Other reviewers have called the ride 'skittish', 'unsettled', 'jittery', 'tiresome and annoying'. I agree with all of those. It is a very hard ride, very jarring - constantly bumping and jostling, while at the same time rocking side to side. It's a shame because I can't really enjoy the vehicle's many good properties because I am non-stop gritting my teeth with annoyance about the ride. Subaru really dropped the ball on this one. If I had driven it for a while other than a round the block test drive, I would have made a different choice. I've aired down the tires and that doesn't help much.

Worst car I've Owned

Car very loud, stiff drive and a very bad service. Roof racks make a terrible noise and service department just telling you to take them off without any fixing suggestions.

A Joy to Own

We love this car. It is comfortable, drives like a dream, is quiet and so well engineered. The heated seats feel especially welcome on these cold mornings and we're glad to have the backup avoidance system. Thank you Subaru for a great car.

totally outstanding

I have 8000 miles on my forester limited with navigation. I couldn't be more pleased. I feel sorry for all the people that are buying RAV4's and Escapes's and CRV's etc. I also wish that people that bought the base forester had spent a little more to get at least the premium with X-MODE. the forester with X-mode and other options has capabilities far beyond those of other SUV's. check out the videos on youtube showing the capabilities of the forester compared to others. it exposes the scam of the AWD that other manufacturers offer. other AWD systems are kluges that do nothing special like the Subaru AWD system does. also after 8000 miles I am getting mixed MPG of about 28.5 compared to the garbage 2006 RAV4 4WD MPG of 22 for the same driving. it is no fluke that the forester has won just about every award and is top choice from consumer reports. as CU said "yes, it's that good"

Subaru Forester Twins!

I can not say enough about the New redesigned 2014 Subaru Forester. We purchased it around 6 months ago and have now put 15K miles on it. AMAZING and LOVE IT! Great ride, excellent instrumentation, and best yet, runs on regular gas and we get around 34 miles to the gallon on the highway. We purchased a deluxe model with the power tail gate, leather, sunroof, etc and loved the SUV so much that we just purchased another new 2014 Forester. This one we purchased is also an automatic but is the basic model. Still has the same power windows, cruise control, blue tooth, etc features, but comes with Cloth interior, etc. Still close your eyes and it feels and drives like the same car because it is, again just less bells and whistles. Best SUV for the money. The dealers are fantastic too. The 7,500 service was around $80 and the 15K service was around $260 so I feel again it is an excellent auto with low cost service. If asked any negatives, I had owned an Acura MDX and as that SUV had a silent cab, no road noise, the Forester is not as quiet, but for 1/2 or more the price, I would buy 2 Forester's for the price of 1 MDX. Last, Consumer Reports gives it one of the highest ratings. Also, they did just offer a 100K extended warranty and have been offering from 0 to 1.9% financing. You won't go wrong with a Subaru!

Best Bang for your buck

So far I have been impressed with the 2014 Subaru Forester 2.5 premium. My review might change after I put some more miles on this vehicle but so far I cant complain much. For the price the Forester delivers the best bang for your buck. I was choosing between the Forester, Rav 4, and CRV. The forester in all wheel drive was less expensive than a similarily equipped front wheel drive Rav 4 or CRV. Here is a list of pros and cons I have noticed so far regarding the forester. Pros: gas mileage(average approximately 28 mpg) visibility is outstanding with the huge windows and higher ground clearance great traction on the road especially in snow moonroof is very large(almost feels like a convertible) interior noise is minimal seats are very comfortable and I am a shorter driver acceleration is good with the 2.5 rear seats recline for the passengers! Cons: Interior storage space(the glove box is small as well as the center console) The CVT seems to make an annoying "whinning" noise towing capacity is only 1500 lbs Overall, I am happy with my purchase. I hope this vehicle is reliable and continues to suit my needs. Hopefully after 100,000 miles my review wont change much!
