2014 Subaru Forester consumer reviews

I have owned several makes and models of cars over the years. When I was ready to buy a new car, I knew I wanted a Subaru because of it's reliability and performance.

The Subaru Forester is more than advertised! The 2.5l engine has plenty of horses when it is pared with the torque. The handling is great, and the Subaru Eyesight makes driving the Forester fun and safe!

I have owned this vehicle for about a week now. I had a 2016 Kia Forte prior. I'm a tall guy (6'2") and I wanted a mid-size SUV/Crossover, but finding legroom was an issue. Not with the Forester. Plenty of room. I have the 2.5i Limited. The vehicle offers all you will need without having too many bells and whistles. Leather, navigation, good sound system, and simple controls...except for the sound/navigation screen. It's been upgraded since 2014, but I can learn to deal with it. I'm not much of an engine guy, but this vehicle has nice pickup. I've been averaging 22.5 MPG in the city...I have a heavy foot and can be a bit assertive when driving. I have the automatic gate which I've grown to love. One complaint that I have is the the base of the driver/passenger seat could be a few inches deeper. My legs extend the base of the seat quite a bit. Not uncomfortable, just a tad awkward. Overall, I'm quite happy with the vehicle!

A lot of quirks in the blue tooth system. If I plug my n phone to charge, it won't do turn by turn directions thru radio. Needs a tech upgrade.

Surprisingly good performance for a small SUV but annoying interior faux pauxs (e.g, interior door trim, dash rattle). Relative quiet and nimble. Had 3 oil consumption tests done but so far so good. Seems to burn 1/2 quart of oil every 3000-4000 miles. Small dash display. Frustrating, unintuitive display setting steps (even after you figure it out). Settings instructions in manual need a manual to learn how to use and decipher the manual.

We really like this car outside of it needing a new engine ar 45,000 miles because of the oil consumption problem.

Overall I love the car it roomy and convenient for having children. It also gets great gas mileage. Overall we get 25mpg. Mpg can fluctuate with speed obviously. At 65 mph we get about 30 mpgs. At 75-80 we get around 27mpgs. There have been a couple of weird things that have happened with the computer but nothing serious.

The bluetooth doesn't work on the vehicle. The technology on this car was way outdated and doesn't even come with a backup camera. It has really ugly interior that looks like it was a 10 year old car. The suspension on the vehicle was extremely stiff and was really uncomfortable to ride in the back.

A front wheel drive Subaru wagon got me through the blizzard of '78 and I am looking forward to using this Forester in the snow. It is very comfortable for someone who is tall. Easy to get in and out.
