A Mountain Goat of a Car

I moved up to the top of a steep hill last Winter and sold my '97 BMW 528i to buy a Legacy Premium. I think it's one of the best decisions I ever made. When you drive the car normally, you don't mind the CVT transmission (though when you give it a shove it winds out like an old Evinrude). Still, I was able to get up the hill and home every night last Winter, the snowiest in recent memory, and I didn't even plow my driveway! The power is there and Subaru even recommends putting your foot to the floor once or twice to see exactly how quickly it can move. And it does move out. I like the quality feel of the Legacy. The doors go "ka-thunk" when they close, there are no rattles or shakes, it's remarkably quiet compared to my Dad's '01 Outback, and best of all -- I feel safe in it. They've put together a winner here.

Wow

Just took delivery a few days ago and I have been impressed since the first test drive. Put over 200 miles on it the first day (mostly highway) and can report that this is an extremely fun car to drive. Highway speeds and handling are great - you will feel safe in this car no doubt. We got the 4 cylinder model, and while it's not the most quiet of engines I've driven, the power is great and fuel economy superb. AWD system is excellent and noticeable on tight curves. We've owned mostly Honda and Toyota over the years, but are looking forward to what the Legacy will do.

A Subaru guy for live

This is our second Subaru... the first one is at 165,000 miles and still going strong. I'm convinced these cars are some of the best engineered cars for the money you'll find. This Legacy is much roomier and feels larger than my 2001. Good news and bad news, I suppose. Less sporty feeling but extremely comfortable and reasonably responsive. I suppose another factor contributing to the sportiness was our decision to go for an automatic tranny instead of a standard transmission. Of course, the all wheel drive still makes the car one of the most sure-footed vehicles you'll ever drive. I've driven my old Suby through some pretty bad snowstorms and a) have never been forced to chain up and b) have never felt like I needed to. The leg room in the new Legacy is much improved over the older models as well as the feeling of comfort and space in the cabin. If there are two areas which I might consider to be subpar, they would be fuel economy (which is no doubt related to the full-time AWD) and the power. While the 2.5 litre 4 banger is adequate and the new 6 speed chain-driven A/T is reasonably responsive, it certainly does not have the torque and acceleration of a V6. I've always been a M/T kinda guy where you have greater control over the power curve. An A/T is always going to be mushier and less responsive than an M/T... period. There is an cool "manual mode" on the new Legacy which allows you to simulate a manual transmission with conveniently located paddle shifters in the steering wheel... still not the same in my opinion. Overall, a fantastic value for the money and we are very happy with the purchase.

My next car will be another Subaru

This is my second Subaru, and I already have 8000 miles on it after 4 months. Everything has been perfect. The CVT is smooth, quiet and with zero hesitation. The interior is the quietest of any vehicle I've ever been in (including some higher-end Benz & BWWs), even when the engine is revved to 5K on a quick acceleration down an on ramp. The interior could use a bit of a redesign to gain more storage. The armrest is useful, but slightly undersized, and the cup holders block it with anything larger than a can of soda in them. Subaru's AWD is #1. I have a very steep and windy hill leading into my subdivision, which is always the last street in my city to get plowed in the winter. Whenever we get 6+ inches of snow, there are no fewer than 12 cars parked at the bottom waiting for the xxxxxxto come. This winter I successfully drove past all of them and right up the hill like it was dry on every occasion without even spinning a tire. I highly recommend the new Legacy - it's a redefined car that deserves praise. I passed up the Altima, Accord, Camry, Fusion, Malibu and Impala to pick the Legacy, and I'm 100% satisfied I did so.

Scooby-Does!

Our family has owned the 2011 Subaru Legacy 2.5i Premium All-Weather Package for two weeks now. The more I drive it -20% of the time as the wifey-boo uses it as her commuter car-, the more I love. This car is ridiculously easy to drive. At times it feels as if I'm connected to the road like a locomotive on its tracks. The paddle shifters are fun for dad when he's alone on a curvy road; down-shifting into turns produces the exhilaration I need from time-to-time. In sum, one of the things I love most about this car is that it sticks out in a good way due to the fact that it's not a late model Sonata or Accord, which really seem played-out to me at this point. There are so many Sonatas, Accords, and Camrys on the road these days! Be unique, buy a Legacy, and I promise you will not regret it.

Tremendous value

I've owned my 2.5 Premium since December and my love affair continues to blossom. I really don't understand why some complain about acceleration as mine hustles along quite well thank you and she will cruise at 80 mph all day long. I am from the mountains of Eastern Kentucky with lots of curves and steep inclines and where there are several places without guardrail if you venture off the roadway. My Subaru handled all the ice and snow this winter with ease. The seats are supportive and controls are easy to operate. I love this car.

Awesome Car That Can Do It All

Now, I am going to start off by saying that I am 22 years old and this is my first brand new vehicle. So, obviously I do not have a vast level of experience with new cars, but let me tell you something, this is an incredible vehicle that brings (in my opinion) probably the most bang for your buck. Especially for a younger person like myself who is just getting started with work and saving money. I have a job that requires quite a bit of driving, and I also live in a North East state where there is quite a bit of snow. So I needed something that would be a great every day vehicle but could still handle tough weather. This was it. Not only does this car get awesome gas mileage, have an incredibly roomy interior and trunk, and a really sharp look to it, IT IS ALSO AWD. I've driven a Honda accord since I got my license and what I tell people is, this car is literally a honda accord with AWD. Its durable, reliable, safe, great gas mileage, holds its value well. All of the things people look for in an accord, plus that AWD. And it's SUBARU AWD, so about as good as it gets. Also, with the CVT engine, the ride in incredibly smooth. I got the base model, and it comes with a lot of nice things in it. Overall, I would say please, take a look at this vehicle. You will not be disappointed. I honestly can't believe that I do not see more of them on the road. So, to sum this up, the Legacy...gets great MPG, has a great style, drives so smooth with the CVT, lasts forever, holds its value as good as any car out there, has an incredible amount of space in the car as well as in the trunk, and AWD. What more needs to be said?

a better A6 and 20,000 less

First Subaru ... 3.6limited... bottom line is that it is a great car ( we are skiers ).. it has things in it that you don't think about when you buy but love- fold down back seats, heated seats, decent (not great ) leather- lumbar support -- the 3.6 really makes it a performance car and the handling/interior size is like our BMW... Only short comings are delay on headlights after turning car off , and memory seats--3.6 clears 25mpg on road-- but down in 17-18 range around town- own 5 months 7000 miles

2011 Legacy Limited 2.5

Beautiful car. Finally a stylish Subaru with the classic durability. This is my 4th Subaru and my favorite thus far. The good: Easy on the eyes, comfortable interior (the leather is excellent), stereo is dynamite, hands-free phone handier than expected (pun intended), excellent in ice, snow, slush and rain, huge trunk. The bad: My only disappointment is the road noise. Noticeable, but luckily the stereo drowns it out. I drive this car roughly 100 miles a day and enjoy every moment. The black exterior with the tan leather interior is gorgeous. I researched a number of vehicles as I always do, Hyundai Elantra, Honda Accord/Civic, Toyota Camry, Mazda 3. There may have been features of individual cars that I preferred over the Legacy, but as an overall package (safety, performance, design and fuel efficiency) there was no contest in my opinion.
