Good car just underpowered

by not the happiest from Va on Sun Jul 13 2008

this car is a very nice car, it handles well it has a great amout of room in it. though when it comes to power, its incredably under powered, the 3.4 has such a hard time climbing hills, i dont know if its just that it has 103,000 miles on it but my jeep with 263,000 does better with acceleration and is better on gas. we drove 93 miles and were below a half a tank talk about bad millage

Great power, fun to drive

by Street Glide 06 from New Hampshire on Mon Apr 02 2007

I got mine used, has 100k and I just replaced all the shocks, tires and front windshield (pitted). Had a problem with the hood not wanting to catch when it was shut. Easy fix with some WD-40. I have the 4.7 V8 it is very quick and goes down the highway nice.

Bulletproof

by Defconeli from Menifee, CA on Sat Jan 25 2020

Such an iconic and reliable offroader with a bullet proof engine that will continue to keep on trucking for years to come. Couldnt reccomend a better used SUV.

Our Take on the 2001 Toyota 4Runner

“Sometimes you feel like a truck, sometimes you don’t.”

That’s how Toyota division general manager Don Esmond explains why the Highlander sport-utility vehicle joins the 4Runner in the lineup for 2001.

4Runner is built off a pickup platform and as such acts more truck-like with firm ride and handling. Highlander is built off the Camry platform and behaves more like a sedan in terms of road manners.

“For those with a bias toward rugged use, we have 4Runner; for those demanding the image and versatility of an SUV but who prioritize the ride, handling and comfort of a sedan, we have Highlander,” Esmond said.

With Highlander, the Toyota lineup... Read More
