Very stunning to look at!

I'm in love with it. I enjoy being high off the ground and she doesn't have any blind spots. Great vision 360?. Fantastic choice in color, Barcelona red! Smooth ride and very quite. Great sound system. I still have lots to explore. Looking forward to it. I drive with a smile on my face continuously!

Exceptional, but not Perfect

Overall, this is an exceptional vehicle in all regards, but it does have a few imperfections that I will discuss. To begin, I will discuss the vehicle's strongest points. I believe resale value and reliability are second to none. I have owned two 2016 Toyota 4Runners. The first was a 2016 SR5 and the second was a 2016 Trail Premium. I "upgraded" the the Trail Premium because I wanted some additional features (locking rear differential, KDSS, Softex seats, no third-row seats, improved exterior). The SR5 had almost 10k miles when I traded it in. I negotiated the sale price of both vehicles to ~ 85-90% of MSRP. The depreciation was so low, that I ended up "gaining" money on my trade in, as if the vehicle had lost no value. I made the transaction almost a year ago, so I don't remember exact details, but I was impressed with how well the vehicle held value. I look up the value of my Trail Premium every few months, and the value has been consistently around $34-35,000 (MSRP ~ $41,000, and purchased for ~ $37,900). It is pleasurable to drive around in a vehicle with positive equity. In summary, the vehicle depreciates much slower than average. To see proof, compare used 2015-2017 4Runner prices to brand new 4Runner prices. The reliability of my 4Runner(s) has been exceptional as well. In the 18,000 combined miles, I have not had a single mechanical issue. Nor have I had any defects from the factory. For comparison, I had a brand new 2015 BMW 3 series that had several "small" issues in the first year. The issues were the horn would not work, rear tail light housing came loose, and the radio buttons broke. I sold that 3 series back to dealer after less than two years of ownership. I also owned a 2013 Scion FR-S (traded in for the BMW). In the first year it experienced condensation in the headlights, door open/close sensors malfunctioned, and worst of all a major engine component failed (had to wait two months for a back-ordered part to arrive from Japan). My point is that among all of the new cars I have had, only the 4Runner(s) have been free of issues as delivered from the factory. I will now briefly discuss other positives of my 4Runner. It has excellent visibility, interior build quality feels excellent, seats are comfortable, it feels solid, has ample acceleration, very functional, very easy to lay second row seats down, and extremely resistant to becoming "stuck" when using in off-road or hazardous weather conditions. In addition, interior knobs/buttons are extremely intuitive and easy to use. As far as off-road performance, the Trail Premium is much stronger than the SR5. I managed to get the SR5 stuck a few times. The lack of locking rear differential (and the running boards) contributed to it being stuck. I should have taken the running boards off I just never got around to it because I didn't want to have to store them somewhere. This vehicle does have some room for improvement as well. I am 6'1" and the headliner does feel very close to the top of my head (if I don't have the seat adjusted just right, my head does hit the ceiling). I wish they would have offered the 2016 Trail Premium without a moon roof. Gas mileage is low (but expected). If I take it very easy on the throttle I can average up to 20.5 mpg (I exclusively use non-ethanol gas). The hood of the vehicle does have some flex/vibration when traveling above 45 mph (does not make any noise, but can be a visual distraction if you think about it). It would be nice if the second row of seats could slide back and forward (only the back of the seats are adjustable). Water can drip on to front seats when opening doors if it has been raining. Front passenger seat does not have as many adjustments as driver side (typical in automotive industry though). There is a limited number of interior colors. The Entune system is out of date. The navigation system is not intuitive and graphics are poor. Overall, when comparing this vehicle to others that have similar features and purposes (these are loose examples and have obvious differences, but Tacoma, Tahoe/Yukon, Pilot, Ridgeline, etc.), the 4Runner is hard to beat when looking at the total package of functionality, ability, reliability, and overall value (initial price and resale value down the road). I would absolutely buy another one. The only reason I may not recommend them to people is because I don't want to see too many people driving them when I'm out on the road!

I Love Toyota

My 4RUNNER SR5 is fantastic, it has everything I wanted when I was looking to trade my other vehicle in. Anwar showed it when I told him I wanted 4 wheel drive and fell in Love with it Immediately and bought it. I have owned Toyota's in the past and never had problems with them.

Great truck

It's a good SUV that is reliable and came equipped with many nice options. The vehicle handles more like a pick up than an SUV.

so far so good

The Toyota 4Runner is known for solid reliability and off road excellence. We have only 12,000 miles on this one, so it's early to rate reliability, but so far this vehicle is exactly what we hoped for. Our comments would be 100% positive if it weren't for the horrific buying experience we suffered at Larry H. Miller and Liberty Toyota and Festering Cesspool in Colorado Springs.

Best offroad SUV around

While most manufacturers have turned to all wheel drive and unibody construction for their suv's, Toyota has kept the 4Runner more traditional with body on frame construction and actual 4 wheel drive. This makes the 4Runner more useful offroad and gives it a nice truck feel withiut being harsh. While you can get the Wrangler in this configuration, you wont be able to get the reliability offered by the Toyota. The 4Runner was just listed as #1 for reliability. Resale value is also very high for the 4Runner, as with most Toyotas. The only downside is the slight desire for more power. The 270 horses that come with the 4Runner is adequate but a few more would be nice for highway hills. Fuel economy is exactly as advertised and quite good for a 4x4.
