wonderful vehicle

2000 purchased as a certified used in 2001. now has 120,100 miles. never any problems. only is that the angle of the plastic cover over the speedometer reflects dash light up onto the windshield for night driving if you sit at just the wrong height. move chair up or down to fix it.

Toyota Avalon

Good car bought new ten years ago only the button to open the cup holder cover broke. Seats six, the extra seat is great when you have an extra person

It is the most reliable car I've owned!

I found a very low milage 2000 Avalon on cars.com in my area. It turned out to be as good as it looked on-line. Excellent vehicle value.

Near Lexus quality

The Avalon has been the best car I've owned. Very comfortable and extremelty quiet. Plenty of power when you need it. Reasonably gas mileage for such a large car. Rear leg room is amazing as is the huge trunk. I don't believe there is a sedan in this price range that provides more value for the dollar.

A bit overated.

The Avalon is designed to be an old person's car (that's me). It's easy to get in and out of because of high seats, has large outside mirrors, etc. I've owned three Toyotas and this is easily the most disapointing in some ways. The ride is choppy, noisy, sloppy. Too much road noise at high speed. Handling is poor. The dealer is in the middle of town making a good road test very difficult. Air conditioning is weak and the climate control system is worse than useless in hot weather. It came with "performance" tires, a really bad idea in this climate. It has lots of nice features but is oddly missing a few (minor) features I had on older Toyotas. Still, I bought it for comfort and it has plenty of that. Reliability has been good but not perfect. One sensor has failed 3 times, I had a cracked spark plug, and a bad wheel bearing. In case you think I am being picky, you can prowl the auto newsgroups and you will find my complaints mirror those of other owners.

Superb car

Very comfy. One major problem, but other than that the wear and tear and it runs GREAT! The engine sounds like a sports amost when it is in park and you're reviving the engine.I'd recommend to a friend new or used.

Most reliable car I have ever owned

I bought new and now have 86,000 miles on it. Outside of routine mainenance, the only thing I have had fail is a radiator hose. I get about 17 mpg city and 27 mpg highway for an average of 21.5 mpg. If I lost the car today, I would buy one just like it before sundown. There is one flaw: from about 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. the tilt of the plastic covering of the gauges reflects the sun onto the windshield directly into my line of vision.

1 month and still smiling

First off, I can't believe I am the first to write a review for this car... Anyway - just bought this 2000 Avalon with 67000 miles on it to replace a 1999 Forester with 124000 on it. What an upgrade!!! Who needs gas eating AWD (that you really only need once a year when the blissard blows through) when you can have quiet VSC? MUCH more space for the Kid and the stuff. The car is like new and I hope it is as reliable as it is comfortable. And that smooth engine...WOW! I have owned a MBenz before and this compares well to that car. I can't believe how cheap this was either. In my view a used Avalon (well-maintained) is a great value. Like a Lexus without the pricetag.
