lemon xle v6 6 speed tran

Purchased the v6 with the (new) 6 speed transmission. Major dissappointment!! Serious slippage in middle gears. The first time I took it to the dealers service manager he said this is probably normal. After researching reviews which were also showing this problem with other buyers I returned with reviews and he aknowledged this by calling the national headquarters. They said a major problem exists and they are sending new transmission parts. I also had problems with tire pressure sensors on two wheels, it resulted in three trips and six hours of waiting before it was corrected, new sensors were installed. This is my first import purchase and may be the last one. The transmission problems alone are reason enough to avoid the xle v6 model, 2007. I have read reviews from New York to California and they also have had major transmission repairs that did not correct the problem. Be aware that the slippage does not appear until there are 300 to 500 miles on the vehicle also inform yourself of the applicable lemon law in the state where you live.

Safe & Stylish but Toyota can do better. Camry-LE

Camry LE-Auto-4cyl 2007 purchased July, 06. Camry luvver is somewhat disappointed in Toyota on this one. Gas mileage is 10% lower than on my '02 Camry which got 31 mpg. [ FAVORITE FEATURES '07 ] :: SAFETY/CONVENIENCE: Longer/wider wheel base, 4-wheel disk brakes, ABS, 7 SRS airbags. Engine immobilizer (key chip). Smooth/quiet ride. Telescoping steering-wheel, Tire-Pressure-monitor. On-Key-Remote-Controls. Driver Lumbar control. Instrument cluster. Camry ride is quiet, smooth, stable, and comfortable. [ MY BEEFS / IMPROVEMENTS NEEDED ] :: 1) automatic transmission has very noticeable gear changes ( both up or down shifts ). Tranny has noticeable hesitations in up-shifts up to around 38 mph. Using engine braking ( i.e. foot of accelerator ), tranny downshifts with a surge below 35 mph. And I don't care for the "gated" shifter. 2) Acceleration performance is lacking. '07 needs a lot more pedal than my '02 did to get to highways speeds in the usual time. There may even be a "dead" spot on the electronically controlled accelerator pedal. This could also be due to transmission problems I mentioned. 3) Using the cruise-control at highway speeds ( ~70 mph )is really annoying. When on just the slightest of inclines ( i.e. overpass ) the transmission downshifts and the engine revs to over 3000+ rpm due to lack of power. The tranny upshift on down side is overly delayed and quit noticeable too. This causes decreased MPG ! 4) Camry tracks straight, but steering wheel has noticeable play" (+/- 2 degrees to "feel" road). 5) driver seat belt latch cramped to release. 6) Smaller trunk. 7) Large coffee mugs not accommodated. 8) Difficult release of fold-down, rear-seat ( in-trunk ) . 9) Accessory 12vdc outlets inconvenient for occasional phone recharging. 10) Door handle obtrusive, uncomfortable. 11) Windshield glare / extra long dash. 12) Even with seat fully-raised, front of hood not-visible. 13) Wipers not fully hidden. 14) Stereo display back-light is way to bright. Need seperate dimmer. 15) Horn activates only in middle of steering wheel (can't use thumbs as on '02). 16) I miss the small shelf above the center vents. 17) Temporary Spare-tire. Mr. Toyota, I hope you are listening.

2007 Camry SE

I recently bought the 4-cylinder SE model, and I am extremely happy with it. The ride is smooth and it handles very well. It is very spacious and comfortable, and the stereo is easy to use. The interior lights up beautifully at night, and even with 4-cylinders it has plenty of power. I've gotten great gas mileage too. I'm sorry to hear about the lemons some people have experienced, but there are lemons in every type of car. I also had a great experience with my dealer, and got it at a great price.

Camry Hybrid

I just purchased this vehicle last week, replacing my 2005 Camry SE 4 cyl, and can't stop showing it to my friends and coworkers. The hybrid Camry comes with XLE trim standard, and looks more like a Lexus inside than a Toyota. The ride is amazingly smooth, even over bumpy road, yet it handles corners at high speed with ease. Wind noise is almost non-existent due to the special glass and sound proofing. The stereo is unbelievable. The hybrid system takes a little getting used to at lower speeds, but on the highway, it feels like a 4-cyl Camry with a supercharger (Plenty of power). I'm currently averaging 37.4 MPG (according to the computer) on my first 200 miles in this car. Absolutely no complaints so far. In my opinion, very worth the price and wait (if you are on a waiting list).

2007 LE Camry - disabled in our driveway

We brought our brand-new 2007 LE Camry home two weeks ago and already it sits unusable in our driveway. For some reason the security system malfunctioned yesterday. Every fifteen minutes or so the horn began to blow and would not stop until the key was inserted into the ignition and turned. Multiple calls to the dealer ended up with the only solution possible on a Saturday afternoon: disconnect the battery and take it as soon as possible to the nearest dealer. We have a 2005 Camry and we love it; thought we were being smart to choose a Camry again. And it is nice: more interior room, or at least the feeling that there's more, and a comfortable, quiet ride. Making side curtain airbags standard was a great move by Toyota. Thanks, guys, and please do the same for stability control. I don't like the automatic 'stick shift', the new exterior styling is less appealing to me than the 2005-6 style (I feel like I'm driving my grandparent's car) and in my opinion the smaller side windows make viewing the outside world a bit less safe. Low objects from the rear window are out of sight, but this is also a problem with our 2005 Camry. For those of you with young children, be very very careful when backing up!! But this surprise electrical problem exactly two weeks after paying for this brand-new 2007 LE model leaves me wondering what else is in store for us with this car. I'm hoping we're not stuck with a lemon.

Actively retired

I purchased a new 2007 Camry XLE 4 cyl. to get cloth seats rather than leather. This is my first Toyota and we are very pleasantly surprised at the ride, quietness and performance of the car. I would recommend this car to a friend or relative without question.
