I up grade from the Tercel to the Corolla and then to the Camary. My Corolla was my favorite out all. I had the 5 speed and the car moved. It was great in snow. The backseat was a little cramped when you had to adults in the back.

Got mine used, I use the ECO and get 44.1 mpg and still going up. I am very happy. Love it Great headlights and Lane departure warning helps on highways with no raised markings for center line.

Netherlands, Europe. Minus 20 Celsius or +40Celsius, the grey 1999 1.6 Automatic Corolla I own doesn't care. Always, always running with the first flick of the key. My previous 1989 Corolla had a 4AF engine and 310k kilometres, I sold it after 9years because some export dude would pay the same amount as I bought if for 9years earlier!! Of course I bought another Corolla and '99 with 98k kms, in 2014. Six years later I only did yearly MOT with replacing oil and sparkplugs. And gasoline, tyres and windshield wipers. The Rolla acts exaclty like 6 years back, and I expect it will continue till the year 2100. Reliability 100%

Wish Toyota still made them like this. This car runs for next to nothing. I feel bad that all I do is change oil and basic maintenance . You keep thinking that a water pump or A/C will go out but 21 years later still going strong

Best Car I've ever owned. Only part replaced is the starter. Rear brakes never replaced. PAINT LIKE NEW'. Starting to burn oil. No other problems.

I already owned a 1998 Toyota Corolla with close to 200,000 miles and still going strong and reliable. I purchased a 1999 Toyota Corolla with 102,510 miles on it. The sellers were very nice and even had the car taken in for the Missouri State Emissions and Safety inspection and as it passed both and the repairs they shared that were needed and the work I knew it would need (new battery and tires) they were willing to come down on the price and made a happy meeting of the buy/sell price. I then took this car to my mechanic for the past 30-ish years and he, unfortunately, informed me (and showed me) that the car should not have passed the Safety inspection because the steering control bar castors (where the steering control bars essentially connect to the wheels to control them) were both cracked and had to be replaced. He also pointed out were the radiator had issues and needed to be replaced. So, that added a significant unplanned additional cost to the total purchase price of the car. This was is no way any fault of the sellers as they did what I requested by having the Missouri State Emissions and Safety inspection done (and it passed per the place they took it) so, unfortunately, neither they nor I were aware of the additional repairs that would be required. So, lesson learned: Always take a care you are considering buying to your mechanic and have it checked out before buying. However, despite this unexpected addition to the total purchase cost to me, my mechanic assures me this vehicle is now in great shape and will get my son through college (which was my reason for purchasing in the first place) and many years after that. Thus, I am very happy and know from personal experience after owning 3 previous Corollas (including my current 1998) that if you take care of these cars they will last pretty much forever. Corollas are great cars and I feel completely comfortable and confident that this 1999 Corolla will be a very reliable vehicle for my son to use to commute to college beginning next Fall.

Love my corolla but the engine went out at 164,000. Put a rebuilt 2 years ago and now the timing chain and timing shaft have broken. Waiting to see if mechanic will fix again for cheap. Bought a 2019 RAV4 to replace it. But I hate having a care payment.

It was nearly new when I bought it and at age 20 it is still my main commuter and transportation about town. Fun car to drive, and almost no repairs.

This is a great car for a first time driver or as a second car. Overall, it is a wonderful car for efficient transportation and will not cost you an arm and a leg.
